1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.5 Released! on: February 02, 2014, 04:19:21 PM
There's some people whose purpose is to manipulate the Doge price and to keep it down.

Last week several altcoins have been artificially pumped up, trying to divert the public from Doge.
Now their objective is, I guess, to make the illusion that Dogecoin is not progressing. Creating lassitude.

We can see that Dogecoin has been already chosen by the people. Dogecoins daily number of transactions surpassing Bitcoins transactions. Some people seem to disagree with that fact.

Am I paranoid ?

Yes.

You think Doge is the first to climb this high?

Too bad, cause of it's horrible name it'll evade serious investors. I mean, even I'm intimated to invest cause of it's horrible name.

Can you frame this --

"DOGECOIN will surpass Bitcoin"

With this logo -- ...
?

People will call you paranoid.

I agree with you. I think that the logo is not very serious. While it may be all and the time will come and we will see dollar dog)))

Keep 700,000 coins and keep mine

A huge reason I got involved with DOGE is because it didn't take itself too seriously. That is why I invested. It was fun; it was a joke; it was all good things about cryptocurrency wrapped up in a jolly little shibe meme. I hope it does scare away "serious" investors. If we take these things too seriously, they fail. Joy is what makes DOGE go around, what encourages people to tip each other, what makes people perk up when you start talking to them about crypto. Everyday people are scared away from BTC because it's too serious, because it's too much like investing in stocks or mutual funds or forex. DOGE doesn't have that issue. Everyone wants a piece of it, and it's so cheap you can feel good about putting a little bit of money into it. If it fails, oh well, you paid for some fun and tipped your friends. If it succeeds, wow! such moon.

scrypt asics only help with power reduction, not overall performance than what a gpu card/rig can do.. Prices nearly match for that amount of kh's anyway. So overall if you want scrypt asics all its benefiting is power reduction.
what about space savings, and cooling savings too?? even hardware saving if you just keep adding hubs and usb sticks, vs. motherboards, psus, cpus memory and expensive GPUs..

I'll be really surprised if we see more than a few functional scrypt asics in the wild this year. Most of them are scams, like http://kumquatminer.webs.com

we need more more more possitive pr...everybody need to know about dogecoin!

Well then we should think what is our next charity to make. I think charity business would be really good for doge, cute doge helping those who need help. And I'm not talkin' about any bs unicef charity when the money doesn't even go for the target.

Step 1. Find our next victim who needs a lot of money, philippines or is that out of date now? Or something like that.
Step 2. Dogecoin funded events, around the world. We collect charity like money and with that money make huge events.
Step 3. Dogecoin ATM:s and DOGE<-->USD exchanges.
Step 4. etc.

Everything is possible when community is strong, and I feel our community is.

DOGE: DJpqwezzrdg6E8vNxqM6FBdXSMQrEd35bj

Thats what I was thinking, so the obvious choice would be animals right? DOGE!? Sea shepherd? ASPCA some animal cause, let's put this Doge to good use!!

At http://doge4doges.webs.com I've been accepting doges to help homeless animals since the beginning. All of the donations so far have gone to a small humane society that operates an animal shelter in West Virginia, USA. I know ppl want to help locally, but even small amounts make a HUGE difference at a small charity like this one. The shelter - http://rchs-pets.org

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BETARIGS.COM - Lease and rent mining rigs - As simple as adding a pool! on: January 29, 2014, 01:19:03 PM
Feature requests:
1) Sort list of available miners by hash rate, availability, price/day, price/mhs, etc.
2) Clicking "Lease your rig" should show me all my registered rigs and allow me to edit them with a button on that page to add a new rig
3) Pool all my rigs together into a super rig
4) SHA256 support

Thanks!
Great service!

Solo mining appears broken in v1.5..

When server=1 is set in the dogecoin.conf, an error will appear stating to set RPC user and password, which I already have set, and it closes down.

Same config worked perfectly under prior version. Please fix. Much thanks.

I haven't seen that problem here. Are you on Linux?

Maybe it can't find or read the datadir/dogecoin.conf for some reason.

No, windows. Can you please set your server=1 and of course the RPCuser and password and see if you get it?

You need a really secure rpc password for it to allow it.

This is great! Can't wait for SHA256, so I can point my ASICs at it.

Hey. I am new in Dogecoin and today I was read about it in wikipedia. And I found:
Quote
The Dogecoin network was originally intended to produce 100 billion Dogecoins, but a bug in the code made the production of dogecoins never ending
It's true?

I've never heard it until now:/  Someone more computer proficient will have to answer us.

It is true in the original code. It is a known bug, and it may have been fixed in 1.5, but certainly will be fixed before we get there.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 27, 2014, 09:08:19 PM
Created a Dogecoin application. Provides live stats, news, official pools, exchanges, comment page, signup page, custom dogecoin theme, stores which accept dogecoin, future ambition for dogecoin and MORE!

I've contacted the owner of this thread to see if he can make this official. Here is the release:

Feel free to scan it.

Source? Don't run a closed-source dogecoin app. Could have a wallet stealer.

So how much will DOGE rise after Sochi, what do you guys think, should I buy some?

in what form is doge promoted on the bobsled?

I dont think theyre allowed to are they? But i imagine the 2 sledders them selves are gonna be in high demand for interviews, and will likely splash a few thank-you's out during that time to a couple of hundred million viewers.
Hopefully they'll talk about it. No, they are not allowed to put a logo on the sled itself.

I am going for more mining hardware as i can be sold if maked goes down.. but i think that the profit is bigger on going direct to Dogecoin

So it depens os the risk that you are willing to take. (i am keeping all of my doges for now)

Quote
both?

Thanks for your replies, I've already 3 miners because I think mining is the safer way to invest but I'm really thinking about buying directly more DOGE now... Not an easy choice anyway. Maybe "both" sounds like a good idea  Grin

I've made way more by investing directly than by mining, and it's much more difficult to mine now.

Can DogeCoin be mined with CPU ?

Yes, but it's not worthwhile. It will cost more in energy use than you will get out of it. GPU or nothing.

17  Economy / Economics / Re: How much will BTC be worth when it replaces what percentage of fiat? on: January 14, 2014, 02:47:31 PM
But even with that, I'm only finding statistics for the US. In order to answer the OP's original question, we need to know the value of the world's entire money supply.

ETA: Okay, I found an estimate of world M3 at $75 trillion, which, if it's at all accurate, makes my numbers not horrifically far off.

ETA:
http://gizmodo.com/5995301/how-much-money-is-there-on-earth
Quote
For the narrowest definition, or what's called "M0", that includes only physical money, paper bills and metal coins that constitute currency. That figure is around 5 trillion dollars. The next step up is M1, which includes all the physical money, plus quickly accessed money like that in checking accounts, and comes in at $25 trillion. M2 includes M0 and M1, but also pulls in stuff like savings accounts and CDs under $100,000. That figure is around $60 trillion. And the last figure, the $75 trillion M3, is much more abstract and not often cited in official figures. It includes institutional money market funds, long term deposits, and other stuff rich people possess that can somehow be spent but confuses the rest of us.

ETA:
But actually, I think M1 or M2 is a better measure for this than M3.
Using M1: If M1 =~ $2.5e13, then, at 100% BTC, 1BTC =~ $1.2 million
Using M2: If M2 =~ $6e13, then, at 100% BTC, 1BTC =~ $2.85 million
18  Economy / Economics / Re: How much will BTC be worth when it replaces how much of fiat? on: January 14, 2014, 02:34:03 PM
Thanks for that post - now that's something to work with!
The Gross World Product (GWP) is currently around 80 trillion US$. (That's a US trillion, a British billion.)

Wouldn't the GWP be all the money the world economy turned over in a given period of time? How is that related to M2, M3 or whatever?

When you got some money on your account or under your mattress, it counts for the M's, but doesn't do anything, so doesn't count for the GWP.

You're right. Monetary Base (MB) is probably the best bet to figure this out. MB of the US is supposedly $3,736,101,000,000. What about the world?
19  Economy / Economics / Re: How much will BTC be worth when it replaces how much of fiat? on: January 14, 2014, 01:48:08 PM
True, but it will matter how much buying power I have in a fiat-free future.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: How much will BTC be worth when it replaces how much of fiat? on: January 14, 2014, 01:41:06 PM
The Gross World Product (GWP) is currently around 80 trillion US$. (That's a US trillion, a British billion.)

So, if today you managed to mine the entire 21 million BTC and replace all fiat currency with it, 1BTC would be roughly equal to 3,800,000 US$.

However, the GWP grows approx. 3% per year, making BTC worth way more by the time it's all mined should it replace fiat.

And, despite what we all wish, unless you had a hegemony that adopted BTC, you wouldn't replace all fiat. And, BTC being a pretty libertarian currency, I highly doubt most BTC proponents want a world government.
