4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee will rise, regardless of blocksize on: December 03, 2015, 09:54:03 AM
In a discussion about transaction fee, I just sorted out these facts:

For example, if a full 1MB block containing 2000 transactions will broadcast slower than an empty block, thus raise the block orphan rate by 1%, then the pool will lose 1% of the block reward..

Please can you elaborate on how you concluded the 1% rate ?

Run out of addresses ?? i believe addresses are infinite

They are not infinite, there is just so many possible addresses out there that for all intents and purposes, it is infinite.

Please can you clarify more? is the statement "running out of addresses" true or false ?

Its false. There are 2161 possible addresses. 2160 for the way the hash ripemd160 works and double that for the two possible prefixes '1' and '3'.

Even if every person (assuming 10 billion) on earth uses a million addresses per second it will last ~ 9,268,782,580,738,856,660,348,077 years

Thank you , its clear enough.

Hey,

Many thanks to all and mostly to user "Quickseller" who got the answer I was looking for.   This finally does all make sense,  I was expecting a payment from them only in the morning, they just paid out sooner I guess.  Also, if anyone would like to give a go at my question in mining that would really help me.  A nice Sunday to all, Louis

As a general rule I would suggest that you not have more then one person/entity send BTC to the same address. That way you know with a greater amount of certainty as to who exactly a certain transaction/payment came from. This is especially true for if/when you start dealing with people who are less then as reputable then someone like antpool/bitmain

Unfortunately I am not familiar with the S7, nor familiar enough with mining to be able to help you with your other question.
This is very stupid.  Making a new address for each transaction is wasteful.  If you do this, we will soon run out of addresses.  It is better to use the same address many times.  Then, transfer those multiple receives to a paper wallet in the cold.  Don't use up tons of addresses for no reason.  This is very wasteful.  We must protect the blockchain and stop over use of too many addresses that don't need to be created for every new transaction.

Run out of addresses ?? i believe addresses are infinite

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts regarding "satoshis" post today on the mailing list? on: August 15, 2015, 09:40:33 PM
Here's an interesting addendum - https://www.mail-archive.com/bitcoin-development@lists.sourceforge.net/msg06194.html

According to that Satoshi never added a PGP signature to anything.

If that is the case then there's no real way of ever proving who Satoshi is beyond moving the relevant coins. Even then that would only prove that someone had access to those coins.

Satoshi has reached permanent ghosthood.

thanks for sharing Smiley
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the MSc of Digital currency ? on: July 02, 2015, 09:53:07 AM
yes agree that everyone should take the free online MOOC, the information on the MSc is available online and free , its the whole arrangement and presentation of the material that i like. Pus the forum and the weekly meetings with Andreas Ant. makes it worth to go for it.
University of Nicosea is not the best in the world , but still its the first to offer blockchain based certifications instructed by reputable experts such as Andreas Ant.

Thanks for the shout out, RockHound!

Bit_Happy raises an extremely valid point.

For me, applying for this MSc in Digital Currency was a no-brainer.  I plan on eventually going to graduate school and I need a Master's to "make up" for my abysmal undergraduate GPA Tongue.

Tao67, I'll address your cons list one by one:

Cons :

- the University of Nicosia is not the best university in the world

That might be true...  Even through the incredibly "objective" paradigm of college rankings:  If and when an actual "best" university in the world, such as MIT, launches a MSc in Digital Currency... UNic will still be #2; furthermore, Unic will still be the 1st University to have started the trend.

- i am afraid it will be only a vague introduction and not enough technical

I think this concern is unfounded.  The courses are not going to be code-intensive so there is that intrinsic cap on how technical things will be getting; however, with Andreas heavily involved in the curriculum design I have no doubt that I will be challenged, regardless.

- it is quite expensive for an online program

The distance learning is a feature and I don't think we should compare UNic to UPheonix online courses.  Furthermore, compared to other Master's programs, UNic is cheaper.

- the best way to work in bitcoin industry, is maybe to do your normal job applied in a bitcoin company

I graduated in May 2013.  I didn't yet exactly have a "normal job" that I could transplant into the Bitcoin industry, which is something a LOT of y'all do.  I think anyone with set skills that they know can be applied in a Bitcoin company right now should try to go that route with the next 18 months.  I would recommend those that are currently finishing their undergraduate degrees, or those that recently received their undergraduate degrees, apply for the entire program.

I recommend that everyone in the entire fuckin' world sign up for the free Introduction to Digital Currency course.
