7  Other / Beginners & Help / BitCoin Business Idea For Free! on: July 15, 2011, 11:59:23 PM
I have an idea for a bitcoin based business.  I have no interest in pursuing the idea for myself, so I'm posting it here and maybe an enterprising person will do something with it.

We have the Silk Road, and that is absolutely wonderful.  We need to use bitcoins for prostitution.  I have in my mind a site something like priceline, where prostitutes put up profiles and set a secret price.  Their customers can log on, and "bid" just like priceline, pay in bitcoins and then be connected with the prostitute to complete the transaction.  I realize that this has its risks, and certainly some things could be done by the site to minimize those risks.  It is worth pointing out that this isn't illegal everywhere in the world (and shouldn't be illegal anywhere), but would probably be most popular in the US where it is illegal.

The site would take a commission, and everyone would be happy.

Please, someone set up a site like this!

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Organized campaign to discredit / destroy BTC? on: July 11, 2011, 09:00:37 PM
I'm not sure that there is currently an organized attempt to bring down bitcoin.  From what I understand, the Mt. Gox hacking was an attempt to steal bitcoins.

That being said, there will most definitely be an organized government effort to bring down bitcoin.  Probably won't happen for another couple of years because the government is slow and reactive rather than proactive, but it will happen as long as bitcoin continues to grow in popularity and use.  The people who run our government can't stand that something might be outside of their control.  Nothing makes them angrier.

I think bitcoin will rise to a substantially higher price in the next several years.  I suspect that the majority of this price will be drive by black market demand, though I see non-black market uses for bit coin as well.  I suspect it will be a slow rise in price, but I wouldn't be surprised to see $500/BTC by 2014/2015.  I don't see it being universally adopted for another 10 to 15 years but this could change if easy point of sale bitcoin acceptance starts to propagate.

Well my name isn't really Francisco D'Anconia, but I just learned about bitcoin and I am fascinated!  This is really an amazing way to circumvent the statist apparatus and I am pleased to see what is happening!
