1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NXT Asset LQD SHARES NOW AVAILABLE on: November 07, 2015, 05:06:19 AM
Damn, visual111, now you've made me wish I'd bought more!  Cheesy

There's a hefty chance I'll go for seconds, later today.

I can vouch that the Liquid asset has been a solid business since its inception. The monthly figures speak for themselves and libertynow is often hanging out at SuperNET slack, letting asset holders know how each month's trading is going. I'm in.  Grin

Thanks to the Blitz devs and all of the team for the Blitz reward. Good effort!!  Grin

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Teleport/Telepathy/Ramchains/SuperNET Core on: May 15, 2015, 09:59:44 PM
I like the idea of a pass phrase based wallet, which would attract Nxt users to BTCD and vice versa.

Would the wallet work deterministically using the pass phrase? So if my computer went on fire I could log in on a brand new PC with just a pass phrase and my BTCD would be there? If so, how would this affect the current wallet.dat system? Will we have to generate a new account and send our BTCD to it?

Ah. Thanks for the reply.

If BTCD is said to be InstantDEX's reference currency and needs more time to be finished, can we extrapolate that InstantDEX cannot be finished until BTCD is finished?
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have 4 bitcoin What should i do. Should sell or hold on to the price increase? on: February 20, 2015, 12:14:27 PM
If you're wondering if you've wasted your money then I'm speculating that you aren't super wealthy. So I'd advise to just keep the 4 BTC and carry on with your life.

This should provide adequate security in case a global economic crisis happens. A little piece of mind stashed away, just in case.

Yeah, I have a tendency to stare at the greater green slope and think "why isn't price going up?".

That's about the limit of my trading knowledge!  Grin

i'm still a noob here but our current situation kind of looks like a buildup of buying pressure at the trend line. as if it's about to explode. maybe?

I'm far from being an expert but the buy/sell ratio on bitcoinity looks slightly bullish to me.

Does anyone expect a pre-weekend mini pump tomorrow, like what happened last Friday?

I've got a small amount of BTC I want to use to buy alts and don't want to exchange today if we get a little bit of action in the next 24 hours.

Chances of happening? Crystal ball? Cheesy

An sd card is also less tempting for thieves and robbers (private sector or public) than a suitcase full of cash.

Make it a microSD card and if you land into trouble it can be quickly swallowed.

Providing you have a backup card stashed somewhere safe Smiley

Would there actually be a market for a Bitcoin whale to travel to an economically stricken country with a trezor wallet packed with 100s+ BTC and sell them locally?

Anyone think this sort of thing happens? Serious question. Just musing on the idea.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Keep Calm only a 7k Dump is causing current BTC crash on: February 15, 2015, 08:50:07 PM
7K doesn't seem like enough to cause such a price drop. I expect there are other reasons that have nothing to do with the hack.

It may be a psychological effect of the news, causing people to exchange back to fiat, but I don't think this is anything to do with 7K BTC.

I'm looking at coinmarketcap and all major cryptos are down, which is unusual. Normally when one of the major ones takes a drop the volume is made up in others. In the short time I've been using coinmarketcap as a rough guide I've never seen so much red.

Can anyone hazard a guess why?

Is it likely that lots of money is being exchanged back to fiat for some reason?

BTW I *highly* recommend "Snowpiercer" ... it's perhaps the best movie i've seen this year it's post apocalyptic and it's all on a train ! you'll love it ... i assure you ...

I saw it a couple of months ago. It was good, yeah. Interesting idea for a film.

sooo hey im a little lost on the ccmf abbreviation - is that "closed casket mother fucker" - as per urban dictionary or some other meaning - just asking

It just means the same as "To tha moon!!!!". It stands for "Choo-choo motherfucker!".

Personally I find it funnier than "To tha moon!".

Where have all the trolls gone?

Is this small climb, coupled with missing trolls, indicative that they were trolling all along to try and suppress price and now that they've loaded up on coin it's time to CCMF?

Well China bout to wake up.  Who wants to speculate on what they do

Another bunch of shorts just closed and longs are up another 200k in past 2 hours..

I'd like to think that since we've had a mini-pump today that China will go with that. We've seen a China dump every night for ages now: is it going to be like that forever?

I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll change their tune.

^that's pretty much the attitude I meant: that you'd use whatever it takes to achieve financial gain without changing the world for the better.

Thanks for illustrating my point.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 13, 2015, 10:24:37 PM

I'm not 100% convinced on XRP as an investment long term tho.

The distinction I'd make with this point (even though I agree with what you're saying) is thus:

Most of us want to see great returns from Bitcoin and we therefore see it as an investment. But even if Ripple were to gain you a return and was therefore a "good investment" would it trouble you that you'd used a protocol that has establishment links and is possibly a threat to the decentralised, free spirit of crypto?

I don't necessarily want to come across as a crypto-anarchist, but I'd rather support a genuine alternative to the economic system that's failing us.
