I made the mistake of using a weak passphase and some douche has been stealing my Burst.
Is it possible to change the passphrase for the plot i have already generated?
From my understanding it's not possible and i would need to create a new account with a much stronger passphrase then start from scratch.

Although it's kinda my fault for only using a crappy password really i just put a simple password in to try and get this mining working and would have changed it later if it worked out to be worth it. Still disappointed in humanity though.

Yes it has a similar level of profitability however takes more Power to mine, because of this your cost of electricity has a more significant impact. If you have free/very cheap electricity then Scrypt-N could be the best choice, but if it's expensive you would be better off with a different algorithm like x11.


It looks to me like GPU's will still be around mining for a while yet, whenever an ASIC is released for an algorithm there will always be alternative algorithms around that have no ASIC's. For example SHA-256 (Bitcoin) and Scrypt (Litecoin) already have ASIC's so people mine other algo's like X11. If X11 has an ASIC released GPU miners will just move to X13, X15 or any of the available options, there will always be an algo that is ASIC free for people to move too.

As for GPU's actually being worth it.... well it will probably be that the very best mining farms with the best electricity rate will always remain profitable, however for the average joe paying a normal power bill... things are not looking so good unless you are happy be earning <$1 per day for all your trouble.

X11 X13 X15 NIST5 SCRYPT-N Keccak SCRYPT-Jane all pretty much the same profitability wise.

X11 is probably the most "Mainstream" and it's true right now Cryptonight is the most profitable...but it will probably be even with all the rest very soon.

GPU mining profitability is very slim currently and thats the simple truth.

In regards to Monero (Cryptonight) hashrates the Google doc does have another tab at the bottom for GPU's however it's not very up to date.

expect 400h/s-500h/s for a 280X and scale to your equivalent hardware.

I personally am mining monero right now but i don't really expect that to last that much longer ... i am just trying to hold on till winter and also hoping the current trend is going to reverse.

when x11 came out it was true thats it was ~40% cooler than scrypt, but since then an improved miner was released and it's now more like 10-20% cooler only.

Heat wise you can lower you memory clock as like i said it does help hasrate but not but by a huge amount. Other wise its the same old lowering voltage, mine are currently running at 1.1 volts but you could still go lower than that if you have heat problems. Mine where at 0.9v i think for scrypt mining which is much more energy efficient than default voltages.

Of Course if you lower voltage then you will need to lower you core clock too to maintain stability

eg if you run at 1.00V you will probably need to set your core clock in the 880-980 MHz range, you will lose performance but running at 90C is not cool.

To my knowledge X11 and X13 jump around in profitability, one day X11 is better the next X13 so really just pick one and in the long run the results would probably have been the same.

There are a few pools now that use sgminer 5 which can automatically change algorithm for you to the most profitable but you should probably try and get them working efficiently before thinking about that.


You might be getting slightly confused about hash rates for x13 8mhs would only be possible with a very hefty overclock.
For my 280x's (same as 7970) with around 1100 Core clock (slight undervolt) and low memory clock i get ~3mhs each so you would be looking at more like 6-7mhs depending on how high you clock them.

Also i will offer some advice that if performance per watt matters (you said not for you) i found increasing memory clock does improve hashrate but it's not normally worth the extra power/heat.

I actually found x11/x13 mining much easier to set-up than scrypt mining, there is no voodoo of getting the right clock speed/and Thread concurrency. It just worked on pretty much the default settings and any increase's in clock or memory clock are linear improvements in hashrate.

only running at 800 Mem clock right now mainly due to it being Hot atm and that it is better Hash per watt.

Really crashes, HW ect probably just means your clocks are too high, just try lowering your core clock abit more and it will probably be ok :X

Might just need to fiddle around with afterburner abit.
on the Afterburner settings menu make sure to tick/select:

• Force Constant Voltage
• Extend official overclocking limits
• Disable ULPS
• Unofficial overclocking mode "without PowerPlay support" (i think this is the most important one)

Could also try uninstalling/deleting the MSI Afterburner App and folder.
Another thing worth trying is enabling/disabling Overdrive in the CCC.

Will the asset still remain open or will it all be frozen or de-listed on November 1st, as an European i would prefer to keep my shares on Bitfunder if that is still an option. Well there are a lot of Assets with great potential but pretty much everything has a high risk associated with the "potential" high reward.

If you want to take less risk there are the much more stable and reliable Bonds issued (i.e Ukyo.Loan, Graet.Loan, BTC-BOND, LTC-ATF.B2 or Coinlenders) with interest rates around 18% Per Annum. But you not gonna get rich over night with these and to be honest not sure the risk of investing in BTC/Stockexchanges is worth the relativly small reward or not.

I read this thread and it got me thinking about my own GPU's that i had noticed had gotten much louder in the past couple of weeks, i did blow the dust out a couple off weeks ago but they still seemed louder than before. So i ordered the Phobya HeGrease Extreme

Before cgminer target temp 74 Degrees auto-fan:
MSI HAWK 6870 Temp=77 Fan=4500rpm
XFX Reference 6870 Temp=73 Fan=2460rpm
Powercolor 7950 Temp=73 Fan=2550rpm

I first used a Vacuum cleaner and then a foot pump with plastic nozzle to blow away dust the best i could on all 3 cards (have used compressed air sprays before and not impressed)
The MSI HAWK was the card concerning me the most(used to be quiet) so i took off the heatsink removed the old paste and applied a thin even coat of the HeGrease. Also gave the Heatsink another blast with the footpump while it was detached.

After:
MSI HAWK 6870 Temp=73 Fan=1829rpm Huge improvement
XFX Reference 6870 Temp=72 Fan=2106rpm Small improvement
Powercolor 7950 Temp=72 Fan=2570rpm No improvement

Very impressed with the change to the MSI HAWK running 5 Degrees cooler with less than half the fan speed. But was disappointed with the Powercolor 7950 considering the apparent success of the new paste i thought i would try it on the 7950 too. So took that apart and cleaned off the old paste and was surprised at how rough the heatsinks contact area was so decided to sand/polish the base to a nice shine and apply the HeGrease.

Powercolor 7950 Temp=73 Fan=1600rpm Big improvement

So overall i am very happy with the results however it is hard for me to conclude what processes caused the improvements as i cleaned away dust/applied fresh/different paste and smoothed the heatsink all at the same time.
Well that's my experience i hope it's useful to others.

Reserved are shares that you have put up for sale, they still belong to you but the system has separated them so you know how many are you have in the orderbook and to stop you double selling the same shares. It is normal for you to have 0 reserved share if you are NOT selling.

The dividends will be sent to your Bitfunder wallet, you will probably see in the top right corner a Balance of 0 currently but when the dividends arrive next week they will be visible up there. You can keep the BTC on Bitfunder or if you want to withdraw them you need to create a Weexchange account and link it up to Bitfunder.

1st: I have a powercolor Boost 7950 and there is a very small switch near to the crossfire connection that switches the bios to (non-boost) your sapphire card might also have a bios switch.

2nd: My card did do the same thing while mining at stock clocks try using one of the overclocking programs to change the clock, i use MSI afterburner and as soon as i change the engine clock it will then stay constantly there. My card can go over 1100mhz without changing the voltage but you could be conservative and change to 930mhz for example.
