So I thought at the very least I'd share my experience here on the Bitcoin Forum so far.

I came here looking for advice/discussion on selling vs. peeling vs. holding my 1 BTC fully funded Casascius coin.

I joined and paid for a copper membership so that I could communicate with less latency (limits on newby accounts).

I found two relevant threads on the subject (this one and another), and joined in the conversation.

I had one person reach out offering to purchase with a physical meetup, but did not hear back after agreeing on conditions.

I had a different person reach out to "warn" me off meeting people to sell the coin, and asking if he was too late to make an offer.  I tried to respond and the account had blocked my account so I couldn't.  (Interesting that THAT account was a brand new account as well...interesting.)

A few people sent helpful messages and a few replies to threads were helpful/useful.

In celebration of Elon on SNL tonight I'm just going to peel this and go that route.

So thanks(?) for the help.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Hi.  I'm considering selling/peeling a 2012 CAS 1 BTC that is funded.  This is my first foray into this, as the Cas was given to me at Defcon many years ago.  (You can find me all over the web, check out "Defcon" and "1o57").

I also spent some time reading the forums here, and have just ordered a Ballet wallet for the purpose of peeling and sweeping my CAS.  If the Ballet wallet gets here before I sell the coin, it's getting peeled.

I'm in the US, on the East Coast.  From what I've read here I won't consider selling without using Escrow.

Happy to discuss if you are interested in my Cas.

5  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Really need some help selling a 2013 1 BTC brass Casascius coin on: May 07, 2021, 02:22:47 PM
From someone who holds a ton of Cas:

If it is this urgent, peel the damn thing. There are plenty of wallets that will allow you to do so. No offense, but the world won't be missing a 2013 brass Cas; sell the peeled coin here if it will make you feel a little better. Don't compromise your financial/life situation to preserve a piece of history, which in the case of this coin -- is abundant.

I'm considering doing just that with my 2012 Cas.  Thoughts on that?

Well, I just found this thread and this forum.  I too have a 2012, 1B funded coin.  I'm considering peeling it.  To be honest I don't know what my real options are that are considered 'safe'-   The coin was given to me at the DEFCON security conference back when these were first being created.  Thoughts?

This coin has the added bonus of having been on stage at DEFCON.
