1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO, IEO, IDO, STO which best? on: May 31, 2021, 09:13:28 PM
The main difference between ICO and IEO is that during an IEO, exchanges actively participate in the fundraising process, ensuring that only the most promising and viable projects are listed. As for me, IEO better than ICO for following reason.
The other difference is the agressive marketing strategy of IDOs providers. In fact to be able to participate in IDOs you need to buy and hold their native tokens. Which means that the number of people willing to do so will be reduced. Now when you have a token for sale and a restricted number of people (knowing that theses people have already spent around 500 $ to get in) the price will go up  (yes IDOs token price is not fixed)because of demand increase. Then when the same token get listed in exchanges thus a more important number of people concerned if the project gets ignored then the price will drop. result you would have bought an expansive token during IDO because of big demand and then loos your money once it get listed.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO, IEO, IDO, STO which best? on: May 31, 2021, 08:55:27 PM
Interesting subject, I was going to create a new thread and then found this one.

So it looks like IDO is the trend theses days with polkastarter, ignition... However you have to buy and hold their token.. 250 POLS for polkastarter and 1000 PAIDS for ignitions. Now as prices are low let's say it's a good option to buy theses token now. One bought you get whitelisted and can apply but you have to be lucky enough to win the lottery. Then depending on the platform you will get a certain allocation. You will then buy the token you want and pray you make money but also pray that the tokens you are holding are will not drop in price. It's a double risk. Another parameter to take into account is that while not yet listed the token price could increase as buyers are limited but once it get listed the price could drop... Too complicated for me I prefer IEOs
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Correlation between circulating supply, total supply , project and price on: May 30, 2021, 05:20:36 PM
supply should not even be in the top 10 things you look at. price is a representation of value and value is achieved only through utility which is the only thing that matters in a cryptocurrency. you have to see if that project is actually providing any utility or is it just fake to fool the newbies into buying it.

with that said, in altcoin market all bets are off. there is no rule about what coin can or should grow. we see the worst coins go to the top of the list and stay there. coins with huge supplies and massive premines. coins that are centralized, buggy, scam,...
this proves that "analyzing" an altcoin is so much more complicated than just looking at its supply. you have to see who is behind it and how much experience they have in pumping it.
Although what are you saying is true, I believe that with time only altcoins with real utility will stay in the market, scams shit coins will disappear meanwhile they will for sure make some lucky people realise gains but I personally prefer to bet on real value tokens. So this analysis I am talking about comes after doing a real deep fundamental analysis to choose project with real utiity. Once that done if I go and buy theses tokens it would be a mistake, because I need to consider two parameters : entry and exit price. For entry price it's quite easy just look to ATH and make a threshold but for exit price and that's when my analysis could be interesting. If you don't look at supply you could say that ADA could reach 10K but if you apply my analysis you would find out that it's impossible because if on ADA = 10k then the capmarket of ada would be 450 trillions dollars bitcoin's market cap is now 900 millions so then you can have at least an idea on what target you could set by comparing like-sized projects.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long until the "we're in a bear market" people admit they were wrong? on: May 29, 2021, 10:09:13 PM
Lots of people saying the bull market is over and we're in for a crypto winter. I think this is plainly obviously not true for numerous reasons.

How long until these people realize we're still in a bull market and market sentiment shifts from "oh no bear market" to "oh that was just a major correction"?
Actually, these people are just playing their minds. They tried to manipulate their own and themselves believe that the market is already in the bear season.  Okay, let's say that these people are premature and they only realize once they become mature...that it takes so long, I don't know.

Until such a time that there is no criteria or chart to know if we are either in the bull or bear season some people might blindly see it and think in a different way. Have someone could show it? coz I'd never found it, maybe other members here have already seen it.

The past days bitcoin drop can be called a bear market season already but what good thing there is it happen on short time period. Maybe the amazing adoption happening this year help bitcoin to recover fast thats why we see it now slowly pumping up and maybe we will see it touched at $50k this year again.
I really think that many people do not even know what a bear market is, a drop in the price no matter how big cannot be considered to be a bear market, a bear market means a negative tendency, with the keyword here being tendency, we need to see several months of downward movement before we can even say this is a bear market, for all what we know this could have been just a heavy correction and if the price goes up once again during the next weeks then any chances this was a bear market will evaporate at that moment.
Well in fact the bear market term is borrowed from stock market however crypto currency has its own rules and I personally don't know what defines a bear market in crypto.  What I do know though that if you look to the chart of bitcoin (and almost all other altcoins have skyrocketed) the price has gone from 10K to 50K between September 2020 and April 2021 this is the biggest increase so far by price volume. Which means that if this correction did not happen the whole crypto market could have crashed very violently. This correction was a bit late in my view and this could be explained by the euphoria around crypto. Now to get the price going up again we do need an important demand, good news  from crypto projects and money pouring in by investors. This will happen but it will take time. I hate feeling the gamble sensation when investing... So far what is happening is logic so let it be.

In this dip so far BNB has been the most profitable coin.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which best Altcoins to buy & HODL for some months on: May 29, 2021, 09:48:14 PM
Can I know which best Altcoins to buy & HODL.
Right now my favorite is Swipe. I know it is not a big one and I know there are a long way to go for it and that's understandable. However I feel like if they can do what they are saying they will do, it will be a higher known coin. I am not expecting it to be like a top 10 coin, but I think it will go into top 100 as well, it is top 171 for now and that will get higher. That way we are going to end up with something better in the long run because it is on development right now and when it goes up that means there will be a good amount progress made as well.

Let's hope that we will get news very soon because so far it looks like there hasn't been any good noise so far and that's going to matter a ton. Nothing can change anything right now with the way it is, that's why there needs to be a big news about the upcoming stuff or we are going to just have many people bored from team not doing anything.
I had a look at the project I am concerned on how a card can be used by companies when the crypto prices are so volatile?
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Correlation between circulating supply, total supply , project and price on: May 29, 2021, 11:28:13 AM
I think the main indicator of altcoin value mirrors its value to people. The options and opportunities it provides. The problems it solves. Inflationary vs deflationary assets and currencies. Circulating supply. And similar facets which separate inflation protected assets from ones that are susceptible to hyperinflation and devaluation. These variables are certainly priced in. But emphasis and price projections based on these price points is discouraged. For the same reasons bitcoin being an inflation protected asset is seldom acknowledged. Even in the face of ever increasing fiat printing.

Aside from the fundamental market mechanics. Circumstances revolving around politics and world affairs definitely matter. There is a human condition element working in conjunction with metrics and statistics to determine how much an asset is worth. We can easily solve for the statistical elements. Identifying narratives and talking points which also factor into price valuation, is a little more difficult. And as relevant.
I do agree with you indeed that this calculation reflects only one side of the price prediction but at least it could give me an indication of an expected return. I don't see crypto as a gambling game where I throw my money randomly on some coins and wait for the hype but maybe I am wrong.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Understanding a bear market. on: May 27, 2021, 03:53:05 PM
You don't have to make a single choice as when to buy, the best strategy is to spend small amounts and spread the trades, for instance if you buy every week for 100$ while the market is crashing you can make sure that you are not putting all your money on one go...
This could actually be better than just putting it all in when the prices dip because you get more value out of your money as the prices continues to dip. I might try to employ this strategy in the future.

Maybe you mean about buying during a sharp decline in prices for a while and waiting for the price to return to better or exceed your desired prediction. It becomes something you believe in to see the good. Although everyone will think about the losses that are pictured in the head.
This is more about buying with slots while the market is declining, when a crash happens it does not happen in on hour but it takes time, during the this time you don't know if the price will continue to drop or it will bounce back so to avoid betting on one shot you spread your trades over the declining period....

However I do have a question, could we apply his strategy for selling too? I mean let's say the market started bouncing back, should we sell in slots? example I have 500 tokens. The value of my tokens are now +60%. Should I sell 50 tokens and wait for the market? If it increases more and I am at +120% I sell 50... If it gets +200% I sell 50.. the if it crashes I have already secured 150 tokens for an average gain of +70%. I know that most of you prefer seeing +10000% but to be honest I prefer small gains good liquidity then big risks and big losses....
9  Economy / Economics / Correlation between circulating supply, total supply , project and price on: May 26, 2021, 09:20:59 PM
Hello,

I have been analyzing successful or promising projects recently and I would like to share with you my thoughts and get your opinion.

Let's take for example some successful or promising projects, here I am excluding bitcoin simply because its a coin that outstand all other coins and has its own logic and parameters.

I am taking for example :

Link : Max supply   1B ATH : 43 euro
ADA : Max supply 45B : 2 euro
ETH : Circulating supply : 116.0M ATH:3607 euro (no max supply)
SOLANA  Max supply 488.6M ATH 47 euro

Now when analyzing new projects if we think that the project is good and promising could we estimate the ATH of that project when it matures by assigning it to one of theses intervals, I mean if this project has a max supply of 45B which is huge could we says that we estimate its ATH to be between 2 and 5  like ADA? In the other hand it it has only 1B max supply could we predict its ATH to be around 43 euros like Link? Does this make sense as an analysis? Am I missing some parameters?
Matic is ~ 1/4 ADA's max supply = 1B but it did hit already 2.14 euros ATH!! is this saying that my analysis is wrong or is it because ADA is still not delivering?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Matic Network coin is consistently outperforming on: May 25, 2021, 03:27:42 PM
What kind of future will Matic have with ETH2? Not much need for it after. Matic is good only for short term IMO. For longer term I would go with complete blockchain like Harmony ONE or even Ada.
Im not sure about that. ETH 2.0 will change nothing for those platforms. Matic and ADA will still exist even when ethereum already fully migrated to the POS system.
Even when the tx fees on ethereum got cheaper again and people are still using BSC, ADA, and matic. it's not only about the scalability solution for ethereum will change anything and it's not possible to make it back to the condition before so many people faced a big problem with ethereum tx fees.
But Matic depends tightly on Ethereum it has been built to make Ethereum scalable. Even though they explained in their white paper that they can also scale other blockchains like polkadot or ADA in reality those recent blockchains (polkadot, ADA... ) don't need polygon they are already scalable and interoperable with other blockchains...  Polygon is trying to resolve an old Ethereum issue that new blockchain promise to deliver, the only difference is that polygon has already done it and it's used and other are just promising or testing so I think we should follow closely how this will evolve...
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Matic Network coin is consistently outperforming on: May 25, 2021, 01:39:42 PM
MATIC is a development project on Ethereum's L2 layer and was chosen by Ethereum as a solution when launching ETH 2.0
We are seeing a lot of tx being done on MATIC. I think MATIC's capitalization will increase even higher in the future when ETH 2.0 comes out.
The recent declines show MATIC's strength as it consistently bounced above the $2 level and failed to drop below $1.
Why ETH 2.0 would need polygon once it switches to 100% POS? I was thinking that by doing so Ethereum2.0 will enhance scalability and decrease fees and therefore there is a risk that polygon will loose its utility... I am a polygon holder by the way but I want to understand the future of polygon... Are you sure Ethereum has chosen polygon as a layer2 instead of its own?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Matic Network coin is consistently outperforming on: May 25, 2021, 10:10:40 AM
How much money/stake is required to be fully part of the Network and take part in consensus/governance? Should be very affordable for most/all visitors who wish to be fully part of the network. If not,  you can't really call it a truely Decentralized Network. It has to be Decentralized enough to let anyone easily run full node and take part in full network consensus. That's a good Principle (Satoshi's Bitcoin standard) truely Decentralized Cryptocurrencies should be based on.

That's the dark part of this project as per their latest token economics paper before moving from matic to polygon 80% of tokens are team, founders and network related. They did not update that paper since and there are questions on network sustainability once token supply stops.
You can find infos here : https://blog.matic.network/matic-network-staking-economics/ but again this is not updated.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Matic Network coin is consistently outperforming on: May 25, 2021, 09:10:47 AM
I have been following this project for a while, what is really impressive is that it's developed by a small bunch of developers with good advisory board and a small funding. It's true that Polygon is just a protocol to connect Ethereum with other blockchains while some would argue that other big projects are promising full interoperability and lot of other services.
However this project is concise but do deliver a product that works and has already a number of customers using it. ConSensys has already partnered with Polygon so this is delivering from both technical and business sides.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ETH surge to $6K this week? on: May 24, 2021, 03:26:38 PM
I have seen many dAapps focused blockchains using two tokens one for accessing the blockchain and one for using it, this is to have more control on fees without bothering about the main token price... How is this handled by ETH? If ether reaches 10K will this mean that fees on the network will also increase?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why altcoins are backed by Bitcoin? on: May 24, 2021, 03:06:21 PM
Bitcoin accounts for 46% of the whole crypto market cap, as long as other crypto will increase their market cap we could either see a decorrelation between bitcoin and some altcoins or the correlation of return could be reinforced if bitcoin is chosen as a refuge asset.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which best Altcoins to buy & HODL for some months on: May 24, 2021, 02:53:00 PM
I think ADA will be the next Altcoin to shine in the cryptocurrency market, technically the project is solid plus as an asset , ADA is one of the most solid coins it never goes up or down violently so it's a long term investment. The only challenging point in Cardano is the market supply which is huge. I guess this has been set as the project is also huge.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Im Surprisd btc still alive on: May 24, 2021, 02:45:14 PM
You will have an answer to your question when you find an answer for why gold is expansive? could you give me a utility for gold? Only one....
I am a big fan of altcoin as they resolve many other problems however as said on other replies, it's a shame that altcoins are not following a fair lunch anymore... I mean what is the point of all this if it will end up with no hard capped tokens where the price is set randomly and the distribution is more the 60% to founders...
