First to Market is Usually Not Best in Market

There is a very common misconception in the innovation world that being first to market translate to being best in market. However there seems to be a much more decisive factor to being best in market and that is best-fit-implementation.

Similar to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution the best fit survive. Here are some out of many examples of very successful companies/products that were far from being the first to market:

Microsoft — DOS (Disk Operating Systems) IBM had DOS for its then-small System/360 mainframes as far back as 1964 Microsoft did not invent it but provided better implementation (some would argue that J)

Facebook- was not the first social network

Google- was not the first search engine

iPhone — was not the first Smartphone (remember Blackberry?) Actually the first Smartphone (that also had touch screen!) was by BellSouth under the name Simon Personal Communicator (1994).

Chrome — was not the first Internet Browser (Remember Netscape?)

Point being that rather than focusing only on being first to market we should place more weight on understanding/ figuring out the best implementation that provides the fittest product/value to user’s need. Proof of Stake is the best implementation imo.

BlackCoin started off as POW for about one week then switched to full POS after all coins were mined.

I considered this myself a few weeks ago when looking into the cost of billboard advertising in Africa. BlackCoin will likely do very well in emerging markets as smartphone use is gaining traction quite quickly in both Africa and India. We could benefit immensely if we focus on long term goals and target market these economies early in the game.

I understand that there are a lot among us that want to see this coin jump in price within the next few months. I am not one of those. I rarely even see the price until I buy. What I do see is real world value and believe we should also focus on long term goals that are 4-5 years out.

BlackCoin needs to be used for what it was designed for. Currency. People need to sell eggs for BC so they can buy milk or firewood with BC. And although 1% interest doesn't seem like a lot to most of us, it's an incredible amount to someone living in a third world country whose fiat currency keeps declining in value. We need to capitalize on our strengths: Confirmation speed, 1% interest and our ubiquitous name.

This is another good question and the reason I contacted BitcoinTrezor regarding security to see if they supported POS. They responded to my email with this:

TREZOR is BIP0044 compliant wallet, this means it support any number of bitcoin-like coins or altcoins. It is only on developers of each altcoin and wallet service whether they are going to support TREZOR in their software.
So, you need to ask developers of a Blackcoin wallet.

For those who missed the South of France event.

I agree. As ironic as it sounds, this forum is actually better than Blkfeeds's forum as an education tool because of the trolls.

Whenever they post their provocative BS it allows someone to respond and in turn educate everyone. XBladeX does a very good job doing this. I've learned a lot bc of his replies to the trolls.

The Blkfeed forum seems like a place for BC fanboys (of which I am one).  How long will it take before people start getting banned on there for not towing the party line? Blkfeed is good as an information tool for people who want further information about Blackcoin.

Divesting away from this forum is a really, really bad idea.

I'll admit I prefer the price at it's current state as well, or even lower, as I can mange to buy more and continue to support David with projects like Blackhalo and Nightrader.

When these two utilities go mainstream, fast coins like BC will absolutely flourish. It's not what you can buy with crypto, it's what you can do with it.

Just imagine sitting in a pub with your friends watching the NHL playoffs, pulling out your phone, launching your Blackhalo app and getting people to put their crypto where their mouth is. You will be able to make short, quick bets not just on who will win the game but who will score the next goal!

I agree. I'm currently waiting for my BTC to confirm on Mintpal at the moment. I buy Blackcoin weekly and this 45 to 60 minute wait for 3 confirmations just strengthens my resolve and belief in this coin. I'm looking forward to the day when people realise that POS is the way to go.
