Hi Grim,

need help again! I follow your steps to modify windows registry. windows 7 finally can see the 7th gpu.
then i start mining... but it crashed last night. I don't know it was hanging or something. As I don't have monitor
connected to it. I am not able to VNC to it. and from the pool report. it was not mining.

Anything that I am missing?

Thanks

Have the GPU's / risers known to be good?
What nvidia driver are you using ?
Have you checked logs to see how it crashed? BSOD? Nvidia driver stopped and started?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Possible Hack - Mining Farm on: March 14, 2018, 02:57:29 PM
I'm using the exact same set up with EdgeRouter X. I do use a robust VPN password (more than 20 characters) but not sure if that matters in this situation.

Upon further investigation I allowed Awesome Miner to reconfigure API access to the machines that I reinstalled firmware and changed the root password (keep in mind these 3 miners have been running flawlessly for 24 hours). As soon as I allowed the program access, the miner reconfigured to stratum+tcp://c11.mine.ahashpool.com3573

It's my opinion that the security vulnerability lies in Awesome Miner. I'm going to reach out to the company today. I will post if there are any developments.

Please keep us appraised of what you find, I am quite interested.

Do you use the web interface to Awesome Miner?  If so, change the port and reset all passwords to very long tough passwords.  Do you have multiple accounts in Awesome Miner?

Do you use the cloud service with Awesome Miner?  Change the passwords there as well.

Now, the remote site... what kind of firewall do you have there protecting your machines from the internet?  What ports do you have opened or forwarded?

I do not use the web interface. I only have 1 acct with awesome miner. I do not use cloud service. I do have a firewall in place. No open ports or forwarded ports.

Further diagnosing. I reinstalled firmware on miners and changed the password to those 2 miners and this seems to have fixed the issue. Will update if anything changes. I now am fairly certain the vulnerability was through Awesome Miner as that program had full API access.

Are you using Awesome miner from the remote location to control the D3, L3 and S9s ?

As with my setup for my farm, I have a controller PC on site that uses Awesomeminer so no API calls leaves the internal LAN and I VPN into the laptop to make changes to any of my rigs. In this setup I fully control traffic in and out via my edge router for security.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 GTX owners, what are you mining now? on: March 14, 2018, 12:31:25 PM
Currently doing ETH but I am preparing to do some testing for Equihash for when ETH goes to POS. Then probably going to do a mix between ZEC & BTG.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: March 14, 2018, 11:50:21 AM
Question guys.

Is it safe to run 4 1080Tis on 1200W PSU?
PL will be 85%.
Riser powered by 6 pin, 6 pin, 1st Molex, 2nd Molex.

My Cooler Master V1200 Platinum has 5 PCI-e cables.

You have plenty of headroom, usually want to follow 80% rule when it comes to electrical components, this includes PSUs that are under 24/7 load. With the 1080ti's, TDP is around 250 depending on model. Taking this, at 4 at 85% TDP is about 850 watts. That is 70% capacity. To hit the 80% rule you would need to hit 960 watts pulled from the PSU. If this is a mining rig, most hardware CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD take another 60-100 watts. So it would put you around 960 watts for 24/7 usage. Smiley
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: March 13, 2018, 07:47:47 PM
Are you only looking to pass the dev=0,1,2  command through AM to DSTM miner? (I will be home in about an hour and will get back with you)
Also AM can individually enable/disable GPU's as well if that is the objective you are trying to do.
Yes, just that.  I just want to enable/disable GPUs as I'm planning to do some testing and want to run AM and NH at the same time.

I don't know for DSTM but in general with miners, either you use the config file (the simply run the exe with ZERO parameter), OR you pass parameters, in a batch or cmd file.
In general, you CANNOT do both.

If you've some specific parameters, then you may try to rename the config file as *.old for example, and pass ALL the parameters with AM.
Well, I was trying with both the dev command through AM and in the .cfg file with no luck.  At this moment, I've taken out all instructions from AM but the dev command is still in the .cfg file, still does not work.

Go to Options->Profit Profiles. In the Profit switching profiles select the profile that applies to you, in my case "nVidia GPU". Then select "Edit" Click on the miner you want to use. Click on it, click Configure. Then Select "new" in which at this point you can specify the number of GPU's you want to use or detect from host per device.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to maximize profit with 8 GTX 1080s? on: March 13, 2018, 06:27:10 PM
Hi,
I am new to mining and I am currently using Awesome miner with miningpoolhub. I am getting only 12$/day with my 8 GTX 1080s after overclocking the GPUs. Can anyone suggest which miner and mining pool combination should I use so as to maximize my profit? Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

With 1080s, I would recommend ETH, and I personally use Nanopool.

On AM are you profit switching? Or single mining an Algo?

What is your hashrates?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: March 13, 2018, 06:21:12 PM
I need to add the dev=0,1,2 option to the DSTM miner in AM but I have tried with no success to get AM to pass this option forward.  I've even tried going into the actual miner folder (C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\AwesomeMiner\zm_0.6_win_2\zm_0.6_win)and edit the zm.cfg file but it is ignored when AM starts up the DSTM miner.  Any help appreciated!

I believe you can pass custom command arguments to the miner via the options within each miner on AM. I can verify the exact location once I am home.
Please confirm how to do this, I look forward to it.  I've tried in all places I could think of:

I've tried Options > Pools > Equihash MPH pool (port 17023) > Advanced and added pool specific command line parameters
I've tried Options > Profit Profiels > Custom Profile > DSTM Zcash Cuda Miner > Configure and added command line parameters to mining software
I've tried right-click on miner > Properties > Command Line and added parameters to mining software
I've tried going to C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\AwesomeMiner\zm_0.6_win_2\zm_0.6_win and editing the zm.cfg file

Nothing works and it looks like the .cfg file is ignored when AM starts up the miner or AM injects it's own commands and thus ignores the .cfg file.   Sad
