Ufasoft are you still updating the miner?

I beleive that we need to report the false-positive again. i beleive that they just don't get it.....and from waht i see most of the shitty anti-viruses just copy&pasted the detection from another anti-virus and chaged almost nothing in the detection...

Well i uploaded the latest ufasoft miner to anubis and in the report i wasn't able to detect any malicious action performed, but it might have anti-anubis or idk...
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Pushpool Web Frontend] Simplecoin v4.0 Opensource PHP/MySQL - NEW RELEASE on: August 19, 2011, 09:50:37 AM
Simplecoin i have some questions:
1.Am i allowed to mine from different ips(i mean if i'm running 4 rigs i don't want them to get banned because of different ips or so)?
2.If i'm not allowedt o mine form more ips, tell me what's the limit(i mean like 2 ips per worker or 1 ip per worker)?

I got the following reply from symatec:

So could somebody confirm that symatec still detects bitcoin-miner?
And ufasoft could you add an backup pool option, so if the main pool it's down the miner to switch to the second pool?

Ufasoft could you add an option to use gpu mining only when computer it's idle?
How do you define this state "computer is idle"?

Does it mean "CPU usage is 0% during hour"?
No keyboard/mouse activity?

Anyway you can write your own program which detects "Idle" state and runs miner. then when it detects user activity it will stop the miner.

No keyboard/mouse activity+cpu usage lower then lets say 25%.

I submited false-postive reports on comodo/symatec i hope they will remove the detection from their databases and does any other av's detect thsi as an virus?

Holy incoming updates!

I may have to deem this release 4.0 because the changes are that drastic!
Looking forward for this update.

I didn't really had time to analyze it manually but here it's the anubis report and i don't see any malicious activity:

Considering ufasoft hasn't released the new source and the recent virus warnings, i would start thinking that he is the one spreading the botnet.

He was asked many times in this thread and he just ignored the requests(didn't even bother answering). I don't really need the source, but if he is spreading the botnet, it's very likely the current exe to be "infected" as well.
Well it's not very nice to make stataments like that based on nothing, i'll analyze it tonight to see if there it's any backdoor in it even if i don't really beleive that.

Ah yes, it used to be recognized by Malware-bytes as well, but I made it very well known that bitcoin miners were legitimate programs and that the true malware lies not in the legitimate program that it downloads, but in the code executed to put it on the computer in the first place.  I imagine that if we spam Comodo with false positive messages, they will be more apt to remove it from their malware list and go after the real threat/trojan.
We should definetly do that with all the av's that detects this miner as it starts to become annoying.

I'd be glad to test you're site for vulnerabilities, just hit me up when it's ready.

Siplecoin here is a feature request:
-add an api so that an application could create an new worker when he wants(for example you have 5 computers and you want to create an application that when it's run on that computer it will automatically create an new username+password from that computer+link it to you're account, for example that worker to be linked to my account or so)&retrive them from the server.Or if i'm mining with 2 pcs and using the same username+password is there any problem?or this would work to?

While the idea sounds great, it's also seems like it might add an exploit.

However, you can use the same miner name/pass on multiple workers.
Could you please explain futher what exploit it could add?and i see that you fixed the full path disclousure bugs, good job!

So any news about ufasoft miner?
17  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ufasoft Miner Thread - SSE2-optimized for Intel CPUs, version 0.19 (2011-July) on: July 30, 2011, 07:47:39 AM
Ok, so why doesnt the user just pop open Task Manager and see which process uses them resources.
I already did that and ufasoft miner was using like 80% but now it doesn't really matter as i tested again and cpuminer with 1 thread+affinity set to the core 0 it's taking only 50% of the memory as it should.

The system related task take 3-4% always when i'm not mining and so+i don't play any games that would use resources and so.
19  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ufasoft Miner Thread - SSE2-optimized for Intel CPUs, version 0.19 (2011-July) on: July 29, 2011, 01:05:08 PM
Yes i know, it is mining at half of the speed but it still uses 90% of the cpu power....
After you have specified the number of threads, set(if possible use task manager) the cpu affinity to be at core X or whichever you choose. And that's basically it.
I have already set the affinity from the guiminer.
There's a slight possibility it's not working via guiminer. Do it via Task Manager. Also, how many cores do you have?
Only 2 cores.
Then what did you expect? I have a quad core, so if i use one thread that's only 25% of my CPU. For you, it will be 50%. Basically, that is why you have the so called "high cpu usage"
Maybe he expects 50%. That's what I get on my dual-core systems with one thread, and that is what he should be getting based on your post.  The 90% that he is getting is significantly higher than 50%  I hope someone congratulates me on making a pot as useful as yours...
Yes that's my point...
