1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: September 08, 2021, 12:10:17 AM
Fan question:

1) The fan at the top on all three of my LTCs (all purchased used, some barely, some ran quite a bit) never turns on.  Is that normal?

2) One of them, the other fan is making a noise like its bearing is going out.  Does anyone know what the sizes of these fans are and if they're 3 or 4 pin?

Thanks

Posted earlier about instability issues in balanced and a high error rate.

Screenshot from my dashboard today.  The one with the ~70% error rate is also the one that fails.  It has consistently been that unit, and the error rate has remained consistently around that.

Is this a defective unit or something I can fix?

If it matters I'm running them off of a 750w EVGA G3 power supply

Yes it does matter. 750W is imho just under-sized for three units consuming 200-250W each. Keep in mind that regular ATX PSUs are not designed to run at full load 24/7, possibly resulting in power stability issues on your devices, excess heat, louder fan noise - and consequently will wear out sooner. So it's always a good idea to calculate wattage sizing with a decent margin (+25%)

Thanks for the feedback.  This was my first time playing with a PSU. I shot for a 25% over 200x3 with the 750s but sounds like the 850 would be a better choice.

These are running in balanced (160x3) and I have no intention of running Turbo anytime soon.

I started up my standalone and add-on miners a few days ago.  Flawless the first two days (1st on Eco, 2nd on Balanced) except for the following:

1) Error rate is 20%+

2) Yesterday and today(Day 3 and Day 4) while set to Balanced, one or both of my add-ons pooped out and didn't come back, although the main continued to mine.  There was no error I could find explaining why or what happened.  Temps have been around 60c

If it matters I'm running them off of a 750w EVGA G3 power supply
