1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: El Salvador mining bitcoin on: October 01, 2021, 11:14:49 PM
Some are starting, some are stopping... I think we are all limited by the same thing : ASICS are going to be more and more difficult to find and buy. So IMO, if they stay out of production, difficulty won't be > 45 T
2  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS & Braiins OS+ custom ASIC firmware: optimize performance & efficiency on: September 29, 2021, 11:48:31 AM
Hi
I just got my first Antminer S9. It is a 2019 model.
I'm eager to try out Braiins OS+. I read lots of good about it.
However, the quick start documentation is quite confusing and contradictory. In the section RUNNING STOCK FIRMWARE RELEASED IN 2019 OR LATER it first talks about the SSH being locked with the newer models.
It talks about installing Braiins OS to 2019 stock firmware with BOS Toolbox. Clear enough.
But then it goes on to state that devices with 2010 stock firmware CAN ONLY be installed with an SD Card.
I would prefer to install with BOS Toolbox but I don't know if it will work. Can I use it or do I have to use SD card?
Please fix this in the documentation as it is contradictory and confusing.

Why don't you just try ? Wouldn't be more easy than wait the answer here ? Nothing risky to try to change your firmware to be honnest.

Hello Kano,

I wouId like to join your pool, I really like the principes and what you did for the network.

But if I join you now, I am affraid of earning "nothing" : the pool is actually over 300% shares for the current block. If I join you with my "small" hashrate, I will earn almost nothing, because I will no have the time to share suffisantly shares. Am I right ?  (= nothing on the current block + next in long time to wait for)

As i said before, the best share should be returning in the next version, you could see it in the UI before the 2021 release.

If you want to try the nightly be my guest. But it has some unfinished touches and breaks btctools.

Sorry I didn't saw that information !

I'm really happy to read that, thank you !

I would like to test your firmware and to give you a feedback Cheesy

You should post in the Altcoins mining section, people will be more helpful I think!

PS : Do you reach the minimum of withdrawal of your pool ? Many have minimum amounts before payment

Hey

I do solo mining and 90% of my ASICs are actually running with Braiinos+

Everything is perfect : more Th/s as I wanted

But could you tell how I can know my bestshare ? It's so useful to me and I don't find this info in the Braiinos+ gui

Thanks

Braiins OS seems doesn't have bestshare, unlike the stock firmware that you can find the bestshare under miner status.

There are two people already talk about this to add it on their GUI but until now they didn't add it yet.

Thank you very much for these informations !

IMO the best share info is the only missing thing with Braiinos+. Hope they will include it one day !
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are there coins suitable for CPU mining? on: September 12, 2021, 11:37:24 AM
I have a Dell 7920 workstation that has a pretty poor GPU - Nvidia Quadro P2200, with a hash rate of about 13.5 Mh/s. I'm currently using this to mine some Ethereum at 2minors.com, but only to learn the process, as it is uneconomic for me. Electricity costs in the UK are too high - only people stealing electricity, or having their own solar/wind generation, can making mining pay here.

Although the GPU in this Dell workstation is poor, the workstation has a large amount of RAM (384 GB), and a couple of 26-core CPUs, although the CPUs only run at 2.0 GHz. I would like to upgrade to some faster CPUs with more cores, but the faster CPUs with more cores are really expensive.

I'm wondering if there are any coins that are worth mining on a CPU.

Dave

Yes, if you use it in combination with Slush Pool, you get "two products for the price of one".

Anyone knows how to connect to this pool ?

I have a good return with nicehash pool tester, but when I put the stratum address in my own asics it's always "dead"

Is this pool "sure" ? news from admin ?

What are the old controllers compatible whit now days.
