1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can we do to make Bitcoin hit $100k on: May 23, 2024, 06:07:14 PM
I have always been thinking about what we could do to make Bitcoin hit a tremendous amount.

Is there anything we could do??

You or we? How many Bitcoin has you bought that you are calling for $100k? Don't you see what Blackrock and Microstrategy are doing every week, they ar buying and stacking millions of Bitcoin on their wallet everyday, they are the reason why Bitcoin in print green candle weekly because they are trying to get the price above previous all time high but there actions are making Bitcoin centralized, one entity are hiding all the Bitcoin and it's not good for decentralization.

You have seen how Bitcoin price moved from $16k to $70k right, that's how Bitcoin will move above $100k without much struggle, it will make a move own it's own, you don't have to stress it and if they manipulate it, the price will not last long, little negative impact on the market will destroy everything they have worked hard to build for many months and remember, 1 month is crypto looks more like years outside crypto if you hold Bitcoin.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A known enemy can easily be defeated on: May 23, 2024, 05:55:40 PM
I have a younger brother who lives in the US and yesterday he told me about a call he received saying that he can get his lost coins back and all he needs to do is submit his wallet address.

Before saying that I am a fool, I know this is a scam, but I need to ask about what could possibly go wrong if he submit a wallet address? I did told him to submit a random wallet address that is empty with no single transactions in the past though but I can't stop thinking what this could lead to.

Scam is a long process and the first thing they do to a victim is to initiate a trust and that is too blind you from seeing any red flag especially if you are naive and ignorant about blockchain and how transaction works on the network.

Possible scenario, they will asked for your wallet address just to prove they are starting to work only to come back later and ask for payment to buy some software packages to use to help you recover your money. If you send them, that's the beginning of your nemesis because they will request another one from you continuesly until you come to your senses.

Quote
If you know their trick you can always be ahead of them and possibly be able to Warn others too, I am just wondering what they could possibly have in mind, I think they will track his transactions to know his worth. Or there is more? What do you think?

I have always seen hundreds of same complaints of the same scams in chain abuse, they complain everyday of the scam and this is to tell you that people just want to invest into crypto but has zero understanding of the safety about their coins and this how they lose money all the time. Ignorance is a big threat to security and that's why too simple scams are paramount everywhere.
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Exchanges Nowadays on: May 23, 2024, 05:43:52 PM
Binance, ByBit, Kucoin you can trade in these exchanges very easily, you can start your trade by looking at the minimum deposit here. Moreover, we know that currently the most popular and convenient exchange is Binance, you can easily trade here in your local currency through p2p. I currently use these three exchanges I find them to be the best and very easy to trade here, and they are the top exchanges. So I will suggest you to use these top exchanges for trading and p2p transactions, you can easily make your trade successful. Moreover, if you use these exchanges, there will be no risk, rather you will not face fraudsters, so it will definitely be good for you if you follow their rules and trade here.

I have tested most of this exchanges and I love one thing about Binace which are quick update with anything new regarding any coin and withdrawal fees. Binance implemented segwit right before other exchanges upgraded their wallet, they didn't just do that for Bitcoin, they have it in Litecoin as well; If not that taproot isn't that popular yet, they would have done the same, the minimum deposit is small and withdrawal fees are small unless if the network is beyond what they can't handle for you.

I rated kucoin above Binance and others then but because they mandate all traders to verify their accounts, they join the government anti crypto space and I don't like them again. Bybit also did similar thing and the worst of their network is that they are still stuck with legacy addresses that will suck a lot of fees both in making deposit and withdrawals. Overall, I still prefer Binance but all these guys are too centralized for my liking.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If all your wages were paid in USDT, would you accept it? on: May 23, 2024, 05:31:53 PM
If your salary was not US dollars, but USDT, would you dare to ask for it? Although USDT can facilitate transfers and cross-border payments, thinking about the fluctuations and risks makes me feel a little panicked! It can’t be used everywhere in daily life, What do you think? Come and chat!

Accepting USDT for payment depend on how yiu intend to use the money. Your half most people's salary are going to offset bills right, so there is no need to panic or fear of the fluctuations since USD isn't the same as USDT, I will accept it if I'm to used it for immediately and since my country stand on crypto as a method of payment doesn't have any litigation on tax, I will happily accept because who want to pay tax though if not that it's compulsory.

I would have preferred usdc actually because it's more an angel stablecoin than USDT, I have friends that are are into freelance job and they accept usdc for payments and immediately they convert everything into fiat since they always use fiat and when they don't, they convert it to Bitcoin and withdraw money to external wallet to he dominance and custody of their money.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Disregard false religious teachings and invest for the future. on: May 22, 2024, 08:56:36 PM
.
I just hope those misleading their audience from making investment would read this place in the picture above, in their holy book (Ecclesiastes 11) where it talks about investing in different places cause you never can tell the bad luck they could have, alot of people missed an opportunity to invest in Cryptocurrency, Bitcoin especially cause they thought it was a scam or demonic but they were very unlucky to miss an opportunity to acquire wealth. Their are other people only depend on one source of income forgetting that things could go wrong and they'll be brought down to zero financial level. I'm not saying Bitcoin is the only investment option right now but people should spread their investment in different areas not only depending on office jobs, and most importantly avoid being misled by their religious leaders.

If you don't make an investment, what else will you do in this life? You want steal or depend on salary forever? I think this generation is woke and has learned from what others have profited over the past years. Many saw how Tesla alone made a mad profit for many people for the past 6 years, now with this return on investment that was all over the internet, who will want to listen to what any man of God or any religious leader will say against investments, anyone that is educated and take such advice is practicing wrong religion.

Religious leaders are just human being like us, I don't see anything special around them but just a man that specializes in making the word of his creator to people faster, my financial decisions is not his call, how I live my life isn't his concern as long it doesn't defy the teaching of creator, the day he step ahead of this is the day I stop going to such Places, no cap.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Better Money: Gold, Fiat, Or Bitcoin? on: May 22, 2024, 08:43:34 PM
All this depends on what habits we have. Personally, I would probably rank the best money as Fiat, Bitcoin, then Gold. The reason is, I am used to using Fiat, and it is very suitable for use in my environment, in fact I think all over the world. Bitcoin was created as a payment alternative, but personally, if I had a lot of bitcoin, then I would hold it and think of it as an investment. As for gold, I have always thought that it was a form of physical investment. Even though it used to be used as a medium of exchange, in the modern era, most people use gold as a long-term investment.

OP never stated exactly what he meant with Better money but Fiat, Gold and Bitcoin all have their advantages and disadvantages. Let's look at it in term of spending perspective.

Fiat: one can spend it anywhere at anytime anyday without any form of conversion, you don't need any intervention as long as the currency is recognized as a legal tender and settlement of debt.

Bitcoin/Gold: It might be easy to see Gold legalize in most countries but you wouldn't see for Bitcoin, so spending will Gold physically wouldn't be easier than for Bitcoin but the both need conversion because not everyone will accept gold because you want to buy food, there must be a conversation, same with Bitcoin.

Looking at it from asset perspective, we don't need a soothsayer that Bitcoin is the best, while Gold is good and Fiat is weak amongs all because it will likely lose value as time pass by.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Stagnant Salaries vs. Inflationary Savings Tax on: May 22, 2024, 08:23:57 PM
Which of these economic situations would you prefer to find yourself in?

A- Your salary is stagnant but prices fall. Where this happens, your real purchasing power has increased.  It's called constructive deflation. And even if your salary falls, but prices fall faster, you are still ahead.

B- Having your savings taxed 2%+ a year by inflation.

Drop your thoughts

I don't like the two. Money supply is a long chain that continues to increase and as that number continues to increase, there must be a general increase in price of goods and services, so I don't think there is going to be a way where price of things will remain the same in a year, there must be a change in price and stagnant salary is a bad idea for any working class person that depend on pay check.

In an ideal situation right, option A will help stabilized the economy but will there going to be growth without change, money will obviously be printed and more money into circulation means that we will be shifting from an ideal situations to real state and inflation  definitely set in, you don't expect not to have inflation when you borrowed money recklessly and then print more money than what is remaining in as foreign reserve, it will never work.

For the fun of discussion. I will go with option A still.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing, the Trump pump is beginning on: May 22, 2024, 08:08:56 PM
So many gullible members in this thread. That fat idiot must be laughing his ass off thinking how he successfully manipulated so many fools into thinking that he actually gives a damn about the crypto community.

Grow up people! Almost all politicians don't support crypto and the rare few that do support BTC etc have a tough time. Think!

From the look of things, it's seems Trump didn't fulfill promises he made to you the way you sound angry Grin Grin Alright, joke aside politicians are crooks, manipulative, cheaters and has zero emotions regarding how human feels, they will make plenty of promises just to gather vote only to change by the time they get to office and that's what Trump is doing right now and I don't understand how people are buying into his wide mouth lies.

I remember this same guy called Bitcoin as a scam, he said it openly that it's back by nothing when he was in power, how stupid indeed people forget so fast only to change mouth when he want reelection, this is even evidence that they don't have dignity for people, they just want power by force and that's how they do, all of them.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When investing in Bitcoin: what to consider? on: May 21, 2024, 09:30:59 PM
First how does Bitcoin operate? Bitcoin it's a digital currency uses Blockchain technology to support transactions between users. If you know how Bitcoin operates then you will also know the consideration that comes with. And critics say Bitcoin doesn't work as a currency, Citing volatility use in illegal activity, but supporters argue that it's too early to make  some of these claims, is already fixing many of those concerns. I know their are so many things to be consider with when it comes to anything investment. Mostly concerning the highest exchange in the world. So what are your opinion towards the people that are investing in Bitcoin?

You need to under that we have billions of people around the world, so it's normal for people to disagree with each other but you know one things about Bitcoin, the supporters don't argue recklessly, the argue with a fact and that's what critics don't do, they just hate because they can't win and fear Bitcoin is taking away what they dream off with their traditional finance, that been said.

Did you not seen volatility of game stop last week and how they were stopping the platform so traders wouldn't be able to trade, 40% on game stop and nobody is seeing that as volatility, they should be fair in thier arguments because the traditional market is number one place of volatility.

Illegal activity yiu said about Bitcoin, what about fiat? Money has been used in my country many times this year to settled kidnapped victims from victims. What will you call that? Sometimes I wonder who government employ in their office and just says anything without nothing upstairs.

Next please.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why use decentralized bitcoin in a centralized way? on: May 20, 2024, 09:15:57 PM
From my research recently, I have come to realize that a lot of bitcoin users are still stuck with the traditional idea of saving money with a central authority. Importing this idea to a decentralized Bitcoin, has led to the invention of bitcoin banks, exchanges and custodial wallets. Now, as the day passes, more bitcoiners are becoming centralized.  Is there a club or group of only people who uses bitcoin the Satoshi way, I will like to belong here.

I do not want to use bitcoin the centralized way, I want to have total control of my coins and be my own bank. Is this difficult to achieve? Are there prices I have to pay or is everyone eventually moving to the centralized way?

Consider people who used Bitcoin in centralized platforms as lazy and ignorant users. Bitcoin itself is a freedom but people leave the freedom behind and chose after the value it add to them and as long money is made, they be like "who cares"?

The fact that the rest chose to ignore decentralization, that's there problem, you can choose your own way, run your own Bitcoin node, buy a hardware wallet and be your own bank and support the network by running the node 24/7, you are adding value to the network and those who chose to use the centralized entities can continue to hide their password from a place they don't even own the private keys.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? on: May 20, 2024, 09:03:15 PM
I've a friend of mine who always complain that ever since he started gambling he haven't won a good amount, instead he'll be winning less money than what he expected but he can't stop. So I'm asking what do you suggest he should do at this case. For me I told him that he should know that gambling it's a game of risk and luck, but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.

Your friend complaint is normal when it comes to gambling, it's not a place where you will win and then quit, even if you win somehow gambling has a way it drag you back, so your friend might not be suffering from anything actually but with a condition where he gambles with the amount he can afford to lose. If he gamble with less amount of money, there is no harm in trying again as you never know when you will win money to recoup your loses.

The only caution I will give your friend is to improve on his gambling skills, it's not palatable for a gambler to lose money continuesly, there most be a change in your result; if one doesn't work you have to give it another way and try it, gambling has hundreds of ways to utilize options to win gambling, one must work for you.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 20, 2024, 07:44:09 PM
Chelsea can make a good start to the next season, their recent positive trend is positive for next season. This season was quite enjoyable because it was not a season where only one team was comfortable. Arsenal were closer than ever to the league title, unfortunately it did not happen this season, I hope they will compete in the same way next season and they believe in becoming champions.

Pep Guardiola did not care about anything and led the team to the championship in a professional manner.

I'm not sure they can make a good start, they were able to climb back to where they finished because other teams were making less effort and Palmer contribution was gaslighted and that helped the team even more. If he must continue the way they finished the season, he need more players and get rid of the once he never used. You see that World cup boy, Enzo Fernandez, he need to go, that $100m Graham Potter wasted is among the reason why they don't make much effort, weak midfield.

Pep Guardiola actually care, if he is given another team to coach I'm not sure if they are going to make it the way he is successful in Manchester city. He is a good coach no doubt but he has one of the best combination of players right now in Premier League. Even when he was in Barcelona, his effort alone didn't bring those trophy, he had the best players then and this is why all his clubs are not free from Financial fair play allegation, Barcelona had it and Manchester City has the same case.
13  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: High Fees on Electrum? Normal? on: May 20, 2024, 06:36:58 PM
With this, you should be able to make your transaction, the fee amount wouldn't be more than ~$2.1 or better still check mempool again if the fee rate has increased or decrease before you broadcast the transaction.
You are forgetting about the weight. In your example, that's a much smaller transaction of only 277 vBytes. Look at the picture in the OP. The weight is over 2000 vBytes as he is using many inputs. It will cost him much more than the estimate your Electrum wallet shows.

You quoted the wrong picture.
OP actually created two transaction. The first one was when he added many inputs transaction that amount to 2000vbyte.

He was then advice to reduced the inputs which I think he chose one input to spend which gave him a total size of 277vbyte with optimal fee rate of 12.2 sat/vbytes which gave him 0.00003444btc total fee.

I converted it to the btc(0.00003444btc) to usd at time which was $2.1 and seeing that it's considerable, I advice him to just use it.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Concerns grow over online gambling among teens on: May 19, 2024, 08:51:09 PM
And would you agree with him in implementing gambling prevention education in schools?
All education that can reduce the negative impacts on children both now and as adults should be given from an early age, so that they can have a good foundation about gambling so that even though later they will gamble, they will become responsible gamblers because they understand the bad risks that will be obtained if they gamble without responsibility, but parents at home should teach about this too, not just rely on the school, so education about gambling is currently as important as education about sex.

Gambling has reached a stage where it should be taught as formal education and parenting to avoid gambling, then I think the government has to ban gambling, it's like saying cigeratte increases lung infection problem and we advice children to avoid it but because we can't let go of those sweet taxes, we should put 'smokers are reliable to die young', that's bullshit because we all can see how young and adult smoke like their live depend on it because of that same addiction.

It's simple, if the government is trying to protect its people from something and education is needed, at that point they need to simply ban it and make sure all the companies are dissolved. However, I think parental guidance is more important than anything when it comes to restriction.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 19, 2024, 08:05:01 PM
Madrid is the best club in the UCL, they know how they will end the season by winning the UCL title, especially with the opponent they are facing, in my opinion it is not that tough when compared to Man City or Bayern Munich, I see that Borussia Dortmund is not a club that can beat Madrid but It's true, as you said, anything can happen even though the possibility of winning is only small because Madrid is strong enough to knock out their opponents when they are in the final.

I want to believe this is still ideal for Real Madrid but I'm not impressed with what they played today but the main squad would have done it differently, these ones doesn't look to rugged, hungry and stubborn. Vinicious would have handle them very well but I think there is nothing here worth fighting for, the domestic league has finish. Their main focus is Champions League and that's all that matters now and I don't think Dortmund will do anything new.

Quote
Don't forget Bellingham and Rodrygo who will keep Borussia Dortmund's defense system busy and maybe Anceloti will use Joselu if needed when Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo have difficulty scoring goals. Anceloti always has a way to play strategy in the UCL. He is a coach who is good at making decisions even in Even though times are difficult, I can't wait for Madrid to win the UCL title again this season.

Anceloti will not start Joselu, that guy will remain a back up but perhaps next season he is going to start. He will not make any complications, just keep it simple except for Lunin that will not be stopping. He was to open in their encounter against Villarreal, I support the motion of been bench so Courtois can actually start since he is a bit experienced and okay to fit in for the team.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 19, 2024, 07:52:37 PM
Alexander Sørloth increased by four goals against Real Madrid today, so while scoring four goals in a match is a very important thing, scoring four goals against Real Madrid means that he doubles his transfer fee. Even though his team drew, it was undoubtedly a match he will never forget.

What Alexander Sørloth did today is making me scared for what Real Madrid play today but I respect Anceloti composure for not panic in a very tight situation. The performance was poor today though even when they draw the match, it's really poor for a team that has not lose a match this season only to lead 3 goals differences and then concede this same amount of goal in the space of 4 goals, that's what a relegation team should and not a team that won the trophy.

Quote
Real Madrid could not continue the match in which they were leading 3-1. In fact, losing points is but not important anymore. Villereal's involvement in the match with the goals scored by Sørloth provided very enjoyable moments for the audience. I did not expect such a match.

I enjoyed the match but I was angry to be honest. Seeing what they were doing after the second half looks dull to me but on a second thought, I think that formation and players that played today are the worst combination this season and I get it, trying to preserve the best for the Champions League.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 19, 2024, 07:27:18 PM
Congratulations to Manchester city, they played well from the beginning of the season till the ending, they really deserve the trophy. Guardiola is a talented coach and he has fantastic players which are ready to do anything just to make sure the club is successful.

Chelsea performance improved at the ending of the season, I never such a good performance from Chelsea, but it was already late before we started seeing changes in their performance, they were able to win 5 matches consecutively which nobody expected, I expect Chelsea performance to improve by next season, let’s see if they will be able to end next season in a better position.

This was respective map of performance from each club before they all play their final match and what I can read from this map is that many of them stared well but along the line, things became difficult for most of the teams. It was only Arsenal that was able to keep a great profile from beginning of the season, they didn't for one come below the top 4 of the table but other teams weren't stable in that place, they move from one place to another including Manchester City that won the league today.

Chelsea was funny of all, they journey looks like they really made a curve journey, with the come back performance I believe Pochettino job is secure for another season but he need to flush many players, it was Cole Palmer goals that turn everything around for them, I don't think they would have reach here and even pass Manchester united.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making a long post is not the ultimate on: May 16, 2024, 04:55:00 PM
I don't have problem with a long post but when your post lact composure and ingredients, then it becomes boring to read, it discourage people from trying to know more what you have in your content but if you are good writer, people will want to know the dip content of the message you are trying to pass.

This Fullbear guy, I don't know his motivation for long thread but no offense, I don't bother to engage in some of his thread, they are too wordy and it always lack punctuations where necessary and he never makes paragraph a priority, this thing discourage a lot of people and that's why you see that most often, the thread don't get passed 3 page, instead of people to even quote his original OP, they prefer to engage other comments after the OP original posts.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks have money but they don't cooperate on: May 15, 2024, 08:59:20 PM
I read it to the end and there is nothing new, from the very beginning to the end everything revolves around the fact that the banks didn't want to lend money to someone who showed up at their door and said "I have a great idea, give me money!". Whatever idea/business it's in case, banks have their own conditions under which they grant loans, and it is ridiculous to just go to the bank and ask for money without any business plan, or with a business plan that does not have any guarantees/collateral.

I don't like a TLDR thread with paragraph that are not appealing to read but I will have to go with what you summarized.
However, we need to get something straight. There is difference between a bank and a venture capitalist. The banks are profit oriented individuals that are ready to give you money but you must have an equivalent collateral in case you default but a venture capitals and Angel investors can like your idea about what you have on the table and fund it for a small share or percentage from what you earn without asking for any collateral, this is what banks don't do, they are only interested in their capital + interest.

Quote
I agree that we should not be naive when it comes to banks, their main thing is making a profit. But if someone has already chosen to take out a loan (for anything), he should look at the conditions (ToS) of those loans if he doesn't want to be surprised once he starts paying it back. That's something we should all know, don't sign a document until you read everything it says, even the small letters. Especially when it comes to money and all other important life stuff.

Sometimes, the way banks works I don't really blame them, the financial system is government, the president appoint to the Central Bank governor and the Central Bank governor give orders to commercial banks in accordance with what the government will like, whatever the banks are doing today, it all goes down to what the government want them to do even though they are profitable.

The government wouldn't help out and the banks wouldn't help you either, you are caught up in deep shit of matrix.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 15, 2024, 07:58:39 PM
This topic has come up quite a few times over the years on this board.  A lot of the discussion around it has mostly been others opinions.  I found this neat little graph online (instagram) from the New York Times that compares the two.  Now keep in mind one's location will certainly have an effect on which one might make more sense, even in what part of you own country you're in.

You have said it all. Location is all that matters. Buying a house in New Jersey, the price will be different from Georgia and will be different from buying a house in Alabama, the cost of living and development affect the cost of purchasing a house also the renting.

Your activity also will determine if you will need a house or rent a house. If you are living in an environment for work and no family involved, you might want to buy because there is no use in buying a full house when you will not be needing all of them, an apartment is what you need and not necessary full house, this will save you some money.

The amount you earn also determines if you can afford to buy one or rent one. You can get employed in a city where your annual salary might not be able to cover half of what you earn, you will have to settle for rent apparently.
