Sounds cool.  We're Corkket.com and we'd be happy to get involved.  We're also pushing for bitcoin marketing push.  Send me a message and we'll chat.

What about a wallet app that uses iphone's thumbprint sensor to verify a send?  (now that Apple is more open to bitcoin)

Hello Fellow Bitcoiners,
We are a group of Architects (the kind that designs buildings).  We got into Bitcoin last year and decided we wanted to do something cool for the technology.  We own Bitcoin and we mine Bitcoin (got shafted by BFL, got lucky with KnC).  We traded until we lost enough to make us rethink trading.  And we're heavily involved in the Bitcoin community in NYC.

We think that a key component to mass adoption of bitcoin is a marketplace for people to buy and sell to each other using Bitcoin.  So we built one.  We launched Corkket.com in New York City last month with our Bitcoin Picnic in Union Square.

Key Features:
  • Closest-first search
  • Payment processing in Bitcoin or USD
  • Escrow signed with unique QR code
  • User profiles and reviews
  • Parallel USD and BTC ordering process

Our Mission
  • Bitcoin mass adoption - We process USD and Bitcoin so that people who are looking for a better Craigslist will use our site and eventually find their way into Bitcoin.
  • Craigslist and Ebay doesn't cut it anymore - It's outdated and we think we can do better.  Closest first search and escrow are just the first steps, we want to facilitate online commerce in a way that's never been done before.
  • Urban environments are fragmented - Your neighbors probably want to sell stuff and you probably want to buy stuff, some of those might align, we want to make it easier and lower the barrier to selling and connect people in nearby buildings.

Implementation
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Deployed on Heroku
  • Balanced Payments for USD - Includes escrow, we're PCI compliant
  • Coinbase for BTC - We generate a new escrow address for every transaction

We were recently featured on Coindesk:

Our fees are 2% for Bitcoin transactions and 5% for USD transactions.  Prices are calculated based on USD (for now).  Bitcoin sellers can put in a Bitcoin discount that we calculate on the fly.  BTC/usd price is taken as a 5 minute spot rate from Coinbase.

We're a small but hardworking team and we're continually working to improve our system and get the word out.  Let us know what you think!
