1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Remittances on: August 13, 2024, 07:18:43 PM
I have relatives who can send through GCash through online banking, as far as I know.
Online banking from outside of the Philippines to GCash? Now that's something I hadn't thought about. I like the crypto option though, but with the online banking I think it may only work with some banks ( if your request gets approved ), and they may still charge you a transaction fee. Banks are not known for their low transaction fees by the way.

What about the Bitcoin transaction fees ? Wouldn't it be easier to use Ethereum or something else? Actually, Ethereum is also known for its high transaction fees.

Do you have a Gcash account? You can find the Gcrypto on services then choose Bitcoin then receive, it will shows you the QR code or receiving address send it to someone who are planning to send BTC.

Can I send BTC or any other crypto to a GCash recipient without having GCash myself? ( ie. from a DEX )
I am not filipino by the way, it seems you need to get verified with a filipino ID to get GCash
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Remittances on: August 10, 2024, 04:40:48 AM
I think there are many exchanges that offer crypto debit card and you can use it with paypal and then send the money, but it's also as complicated as using exchange.

We've got to remember the recipient , in most cases, has never used an exchange or a crypto wallet.
So the idea is to make it as simple as possible for the recipient.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Remittances on: August 10, 2024, 04:37:59 AM
if the receiver in the Philippines has his own Gcash account he should able to receive crypto directly to his account because it is now available as Gcrypto as another Gcash service and directly sell it there into fiat.

I thought GCash only worked within Philippines ?
It would be great if I could send something like Bitcoin directly into GCash. Is this possible?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Remittances on: August 09, 2024, 07:23:29 PM
This might be a little off-topic, but... is there any project in crypto that is suited for remittances? ( for example, Australia to the Philippines )
Bitcoin itself could be used for this, but lets not forget, if the recipient gets a fractional Bitcoin in his crypto wallet ( assuming he knows how to
use one of those ), he still needs to convert it to cash ( in this case, PHP pesos ) Doing this conversion will incur fees, and I use the plural
because there might be multiple fees involved if he's using a centralized exchange. The recipient likely also needs a bank account, and probably will
need to convert Bitcoin to Dollars and Dollars to PHP Pesos in the end.
So to me it all seems highly impractical if you're using Bitcoin or Ethereum. Is there any other option in crypto or are remittances still better
handled by Western Union ?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Render tokens locked in KuCoin ?!? on: August 08, 2024, 04:39:44 PM
About a week ago I contacted KuCoin asking them why my Render tokens has seemingly vanished.
Shortly after that I realized this was around the time KuCoin was converting RNDR tokens to the new RENDER token.
Fair enough. A week later however, I come back to KuCoin and my RENDER tokens are STILL unavailable / unlisted and
I can not access them at all. If I do a search for them, they appear on my trading account, but not able to trade them or use
them in any way. What gives? Anyone knows what's taking so long here?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano, XRP and LINK "massive giveaway" scams on: April 12, 2024, 06:26:30 PM
A few weeks / months later, I'm still getting new "massive giveaway" scam videos interrupting my YouTube viewing.
Already, there's been several Michael Saylor clones and Coinbase, but I was surprised to also see Cathie Wood added
to the mix there !
Wait WHAT?!? Yes, Cathie Wood from Ark Invest asking us fall for the QR Code Scam !
So to recap, here's the list of clones in this elaborate scam so far :

Charles Hoskinson  --- Cardano
Brad Garlinghouse  --- XRP
Sergey Nazarov ------- Chainlink
Michael Saylor ---------MicroStrategy
Brian Armstrong ------ Coinbase
Anatoly Yakovenko --- Solana Labs
Larry Fink ------------- Blackrock
Cathie Wood -----------Ark Invest

Don't fall for it !
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you ever be able to buy stocks in Web3 ? on: March 27, 2024, 03:31:05 PM
Stocks would be a good way to park the money you have made during a crypto bull run.
You can't expect them to do a 10X but it's a way to maintain your wealth if you invest
in something well established like Apple or Nvidia. You can still double your money in the long run.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you ever be able to buy stocks in Web3 ? on: March 27, 2024, 03:27:38 PM
You can already 'buy' stocks in crypto.
I've known platforms for both that are actually available for use, but unfortunately, I forgot the names so I'll have to research them.
Realio is one of them. And I don't think their platform is ready.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will you ever be able to buy stocks in Web3 ? on: March 26, 2024, 05:50:15 PM
I know there is a number of crypto projects who claim they will offer stocks and real estate under the "real world assets" banner.
I've heard this since 2020. Meanwhile, it's already 2024 and I still CAN NOT buy Nvidia stock in Web3. There are also other interesting companies to invest in outside of US, so I believe the potential is huge outside of the top 6 Tech stocks everyone knows about ( Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Meta, Tesla, Amazon ).
Unfortunately you still have to do it through a broker and they put all sorts of restrictions on what you can do and how. Now, of course I fully expect KYC to be a requirement once stocks are made available in Web3, but I will say if there was ever a time to do away with the middleman this is it ! We do not want brokers to handle our business for us.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NOSANA rank ? on: February 28, 2024, 07:50:30 PM
Why is Nosana ranked 156 on CoinGecko and a dismal 2365 on CoinMarket Cap?  Volume rank is 306 on CoinMarket Cap. Coin Gecko does not rank by Volume.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you feel about high-profile traders making wrong calls ? on: February 28, 2024, 04:14:20 PM
I think it's good to look at what "the smart money" is doing sometimes, and realize that they may not be as smart as we think they are.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you feel about high-profile traders making wrong calls ? on: February 28, 2024, 04:10:45 PM
I'll give you two examples: Garreth Soloway ( featured in Kitco a few times ) and Davinci ( early Bitcoin adopter )
They both shorted Bitcoin at 50K - 49K. And quite likely they're both getting liquidated soon.

LIQUIDATED !! Wow.

May I just add Davinci is a known whale and quite likely holds thousands of Bitcoins. Many people in the space consider him a legend.
Garreth Soloway is probably not a Bitcoin whale, but certainly a very rich trader featured in Kitco quite a few times.
Thomas Kralow ( another rich crypto trader running multiple companies and living in Dubai ) also shorted Bitcoin a few weeks ago, but I don't know how bad his losses are.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano, XRP and LINK "massive giveaway" scams on: February 24, 2024, 08:12:40 PM
So I've seen 3 more Michael Saylor "BitCoin giveaway" scams since my last post. The quality of these isn't as good as the other ones I mentioned earlier.
It seems scammers aren't even putting much effort into making the Michael Saylor clone believable anymore.
One that caught me by surprise was a CNBC spot featuring Larry Fink, where both the CNBC host and Larry were cloned for a
"Massive Bitcoin Giveaway" scam.
So the list of cloned crypto leaders now grows to seven:

Charles Hoskinson  --- Cardano
Brad Garlinghouse  --- XRP
Sergey Nazarov ------- Chainlink
Michael Saylor ---------MicroStrategy
Brian Armstrong ------ Coinbase
Anatoly Yakovenko --- Solana Labs
Larry Fink ------------- Blackrock

Can you elaborate on this ? I thought you'd lose your "bet" if the market goes against you, as with DaVinci shorting Bitcoin at 49K
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you feel about high-profile traders making wrong calls ? on: February 21, 2024, 08:09:45 PM
Can anyone think of any high-profile traders that got it totally wrong ?
I can think of a few off the top of my head : Michael Burry, Sam Bankman-fried, Kevin O'Leary, and other VCs backing FTX

To me it simply goes to show anyone can be wrong, and you shouldn't be certain of anything short term.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do I check Bitcoin stats ? on: January 27, 2024, 11:33:58 AM
Okay I will try do that now. May I just add I prefer the old Coin Gecko layout, this one doesn't work for me at all ! Same with the changes Meta makes without consulting anyone.
All of this just reminds me how much we need a decentralized system where users have a say and are not merely consumers and numbers in a data chart.
