1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ● Why Bitcoin is Not Mainstream Yet & my Suggestions! ● on: November 09, 2015, 06:20:58 PM
Bitcoin is just 6 years old. It is still in early stages. It will take a few more years for it to be more widely used.

Exactly my opinion. I think it will take quite some time to break into the mainstream unfortunately as sadly most people don't really have any real use for btc over their fiat and see it as a risky venture. I think it will gain traction in certain industries like gambling and remittances first and hopefully it becomes the first worldwide currency at some point. That would be awesome.
2  Economy / Exchanges / Re: UK bitcoin exchange Yacuna is shutting down on: October 13, 2015, 03:21:05 PM
I have never heard of that exchange until now, I wonder why they are shutting down although it says they might be moving onto other projects, a shame to lose an exchange.

Same. I'm from the uk and never heard of it. Maybe it was some regulatory pressure. It's very difficult to comply fully with all the various laws surrounding an exchange. At least they didn't just pull an exit scam.
3  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dice Investing on: October 12, 2015, 09:56:53 AM
I wanted to suggest Primedice because it is the most trustworthy dice site at the moment, but according to http://dicesites.com/ they have no invest option. Tha's strange IMO. How this can be that you don't need investors? I thought it works this way: the more investors you have the better.
Maybe I'm missing something in understanding economy.

They don't need investors. They got in early in the game so already have enough coins not to mention the huge amount of coins they have won from gamblers so why would they want to give any of their profits away. Investing in dice sites is risky because new ones that pop up can easily just run off with the entire bankroll. I'd look at other ways of investing your money or just keeping it for yourself.
4  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Looking to sell my brother's hero account on: September 27, 2015, 02:24:10 PM
What's your price? You don't mention. How much did you previously sell your other Hero for? Accounts don't fetch as much as they used to these days but if you state the price you'll get more interest and avoid low balls.
5  Economy / Digital goods / Re: ### How I have made Quite a few Bitcoins over a week ### {Guide} on: September 27, 2015, 02:19:43 PM
You'll probably just have to wait for his review and find out, but with these things 99% of the time they're never really worth it or you have to put a lot of effort in to reap the rewards. Remember, there is never no easy money and you will always have to work for it but if the guides are so good op probably wouldn't bother selling them and just do the method by himself.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is not mainstream yet & my suggestions! on: September 05, 2015, 06:09:34 PM
Bitcoin is better in any shape or form that the current banking system.

The only issue i see for consumers is the lack of stores accepting it + the points I addressed in post #1 which is tied o point 1) somewhat.

Yes they wont use it if they cant spend it, and its hard to buy with all the KYC requirements, but other than that its much better in any aspect.

I know people are dumb and lazy, thats why we need to address my point, and with that we can overcome the inertia of the masses.

Is it? Ideally it would be better, but currently it's not. You can't just say it's better and offer no reasons why. Tell me why would my parents or grandparents want to use bitcoin? Heck, why would my friends even want to use it? It loses value more than it gains. If you get hacked your money is gone for good. You can barely buy anything with it. Why would they use bitcoin when they can just send paypal around the world without fees too and they're covered of anything goes wrong. Bitcoin isn't this magic perfect money machine as much as we want it to be and we need to accept that currently the 99% of people have no use or benefit from it whatsoever and thats going to be the big problem and why I made the phone comparison. People don't need to upgrade their phone if the new one doesn't really offer them any noticeable benefits. There are certainly benefits for certain industries like the remittance market but that's no use to anybody I know.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is not mainstream yet & my suggestions! on: September 05, 2015, 05:06:33 PM
I consider myself a bitcoin intellectual, and I`m always wondering how can I help the bitcoin economy with my ideas, which I got plenty of. So I was thinking 2 days about why bitcoin (or for that matter other altcoins) is not mainstream yet, and what issues it needs to overcome to be able to grow faster. Some issues that I discovered are practical, while others need the entire community's support in order to work.

So here are the issues I discovered with bitcoin, it's economy, why it is not mainstream yet:

I think your points are valid but the main issue with bitcoin achieving mainstream adoption is just sadly the general public have no use or desire to use bitcoin. To them it offers them nothing worth taking the time to acquire it. I think over time some industries will adopt it but it's going to take time. Even things like computers the internet and mobile phones didn't become mainstream over night and we will have a similar journey.

I dont think they dont have a desire, they do but they either dont care enough yet (due to laziness or lack of marketing stimulus) or they dont know about it / dont understand it.

This is not like we are inventing the wheel here, we already got a financial system, bitcoin is just an upgrade.

Its like you replace your old black & white phone with touch-screen smartphone. It was done in less than 10 years, and no new phone was invented, only the old phone was upgraded.

I don't really think this is a worthy comparison and is very extreme. It's like swapping your phone for a slightly different model but one that doesn't benefit you at all so you think why bother. This is how most people will feel because bitcoin doesn't really offer my parents or grandparents anything at all. Why would they benefit from using it currently? Sure it's great for the politically minded and us but for every one else it's probably just a liability and unnecessary.
8  Economy / Services / Re: DiceBits Signature Campaign - Provably Fair Game on: August 23, 2015, 02:51:05 PM
Wish sometimes there could be room for lower ranked forum accounts to participate, especially if they really want to partake, and they have similar level of "understanding" or "maturity" and can actually contribute equally as much good posts as any other, but I guess one needs to put in the work, be active, then reap the rewards.

Anyway, just my 2c, best of luck with campaign, looks nice!

Too many lower ranked uses spam and post rubbish so I think it is good to dissalow them, not to mention their signatures are barely visible and not worth paying for. I think people should only be allowed on campaigns if they have a history of good posts in my opinion.
9  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 23, 2015, 02:44:04 PM
Newbs are no longer permitted on bitin

Newbies are no longer allowed on this campaign. Only English language posts will now count and if you have a previous history of poor to average posts you will not be allowed to sign up.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is crashing. Why? :( on: August 12, 2015, 03:54:06 PM
Funny seeing all the topics appearing in this forum with CRASH!!!
it wasn't a crash i think 'correction' sounds better . You'll know it's a crash when it's happening.

people here have too much free time it seems. when bitcoin goes down a few bucks plenty of threads pop up with 'crash' 'sell now!' and more nonsense.

I find it amusing but people just want some excitement and something to talk or troll about. People always want answers for why a crash or rise is happening but I think mostly it's usually just psychological (ie some good or bad news and people panic sell or buy etc and it has a snowball effect).
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do you use Bitcoin? A report to determine it's competitive advantages. on: August 12, 2015, 03:51:04 PM
Purely as a speculative investment currently, but I wish to use it in the future and the low fees, semi-anonmous and decentralised independent nature of it are all pluses to me.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Why not just print dollars? on: August 02, 2015, 03:20:59 PM
Why not just print dollars?

That's exactly what they do and exactly whats wrong with fiat because it makes every-bodies money worth less when they do. Printing more money doesn't work and is only in the interests of those that have been given a license to print money.

Grin the good point of bitcoin ... is that you can print paper money if you want : https://www.bitaddress.org

and, it's real value !  Cheesy

You're right that bitcoin can't be printed when more is needed. .

More decimal places could be added though but that wouldn't devalue everybody elses coins in the process.

Try sell them on the Marketplace here in the Goods section. Not sure how much interest you'll get, though. There are also sites like cryptothrift and bitdazzle if you wanted to list them there.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The United States Isn't a Country — It's a Corporation! on: August 02, 2015, 03:11:40 PM
old news.

Yep. It's unfair to just blame America as greed and money spreads like a plague and always takes over its host, but America is just the grossest example of it. Sad thing is its citizens don't really care and that's why nothing will change as people are happy in their matrix of ignorance.

Satoshi.

I love collecting bitcoins. That's all at the moment.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Got a Raspberry PI2??? Then read this on: July 02, 2015, 02:58:11 PM
This is ridiculous. What are you going to run on your windows Pi? Play games?

Good luck with that. This isn't Windows as you know it - there is no desktop, not even a cmd prompt. Remote PowerShell is about all you get at the moment as I understand it.

So what will we be able to do with it? I was going to get a new laptop soon so it would have had windows so I would be entitled top the pi version but if the pi version is rubbish I might not bother.
18  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BIT-X.com | Bitcoin Debit Card | Spend Your Bitcoins Anywhere! on: June 17, 2015, 02:15:42 PM
Is the Card Activation Fees Still Applied? How much?
Is the Monthly Fees (*No activity) Is applied? How much?

Activation fee is 0.05 BTC. The inactive monthly fee is 0.05 BTC (if you do under 5 transactions monthly).

I'd love one of these cards but 5 transactions is too much. IF it was just one a month to keep it active I'd do it but i don';t think it would be worth it for me otherwise. Is there no way to lower the amount? I think a lot of people will have issue with using it five times a month and doing so will rack up fees considerably.
19  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Magnr - World's First Bitcoin Savings Account on: June 17, 2015, 02:13:38 PM
So you use the coins to trade and the profit from that pays the interest? Sounds like a bad idea if true.
20  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WW3 is only a matter of time. on: June 04, 2015, 01:23:30 PM
hopefully Satoshi will come back then.

I am just curious if World War 3 really happen, and the nuclear weapons attack and destroy all telecommunication network infrastructure, what's your bitcoin in your wallet will be?

Bitcoin wouldn't really work well in a post-apocalyptic society. It needs the technology and infrastructure to operate and without it it would be useless.
