as i considered nobody going to return money back. All the people i ve managed to connect were supports or owners of TG channels from variouscountries, they advised me to open my own group in my country as i already donated a good sum and receive donations like they do... unfortunately the mechanism working as like people just get profit in its own pocket, i don't believe anything is hitting Assange

No answer on all available contacts online

vv181 posted a few email addresses that you can use to contact Wikileaks. Try with that.
They used to have a webchat over clearnet, but apparently that's no longer the case. However, there is still a way to send them a message over TOR at wlupld3ptjvsgwqw.onion.

Make sure that you read this if you decide to contact them via TOR > https://wikileaks.org/talk/.

Goof luck!

I have to post a signature to verify it?

Yes. The signature should go where now we have <HERE_ADD_THE_SIGNATURE_CREATED>
The signature is generated by your wallet when you do "sign message" (and depends on the wallet used).

As an example you can look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1935179.msg58393309#msg58393309

Signing address:
1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo

Message:
Hi, I donated to Wikileaks today 2021-11-15 from the address 1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo the equivalent of 5000 USD and I meant to send only 50 USD. See transaction ID a04709737b03c42169549ca5a5df8fa0840982782165663887fa691b0b697d8c. I would ask you kindly to return the difference caused by my mistake, if possible, to my bitcoin address 1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo.

is this wallet refers to WL?

thanks.

It should be the wallet address you have sent the donation from.

Was https://mempool.space/tx/a04709737b03c42169549ca5a5df8fa0840982782165663887fa691b0b697d8c indeed you transaction? Is 1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo your address? Then this is what you should use.

You should sign a message with that wallet because it's the only proper way to know that it was indeed you the one who has sent that donation.
Without this bit it can be anybody asking them to return donations, just for the fun of it. So this approach (with signing the message) should give your request much more credibility, because it's only you who can do that.

I suggest something like:

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

2. The recipient notices the receipt of the money, is an honest person and transfers it back to the sender. Which is rather unlikely in the case of a donation address...
Yeah, that's not going to work in this case. Wikileaks expects donations, so anything you send their way, be it $50 or $5000, is an amount they would think you wanted to donate. The only correct way to approach this situation is to get in touch with someone from the movement, explain what happened, sign a message like other users suggested to prove you were the one who made the transaction, and ask to speak with someone who accepts and handles donations. Once the connection has been established, ask if they can refund you the difference and hopefully they will. It might take a while, but I am sure they aren't going to take any money that was wrongly sent to them and requested to be returned with proof of ownership.

The problem is to find this person, all contacts i ve tried to reach by phone a switched off, it is more likely they will not answer me on twitter too.

Understood. but why should i assign this message to my address?
9  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: sent btc by mistake on: November 15, 2021, 03:58:09 PM
My recommendation is to sign them a message with your address; that will prove it's, indeed, you who made the mistake and not just another individual who claims that. They're not forced to refund you, but if you stand lucky, they may do.

To sign a message, open up Electrum -> Click on the addresses tab (if it's not shown click on View -> Show Addresses) -> Find 1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo, right click to it and then sign a message.

You should then contact them as following:
Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
<HERE_ADD_YOUR_MESSAGE>
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
1KcmJjKKSyUQZqrMfKwSnRtSiGsHsz52Vo
<HERE_ADD_THE_SIGNATURE_CREATED>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

thanks.

I'm assuming this is OP's initial transaction: https://mempool.space/tx/a04709737b03c42169549ca5a5df8fa0840982782165663887fa691b0b697d8c
He pays 0.07581473 BTC to the address 1HB5XMLmzFVj8ALj6mfBsbifRoD4miY36v, which is known to belong to WikiLeaks, although it is an old donation address that they have since replaced.

That transaction was closely by this one, where his donation is swept to the 33wv... address he has shared above: https://mempool.space/tx/c08a96db4cd8fe6b8f05c83f950adadfa094be9945ff5299225eb465c59ba202. Pretty much every donation to the 1HB5... address is swept to the 33wv... address, so it's safe to assume that it also belongs to WikiLeaks.

OP will simply need to contact WikiLeaks, inform them of hist mistake, and kindly ask for them to return the excess donation: https://wikileaks.org/Enquiries-and-Contact.html

i ve contacted them already but it is very low chance they will answer directly
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: sent btc by mistake on: November 15, 2021, 02:54:51 PM
Isn't $4,950 a considerable sum? They haven't got their money back yet and I may seem pessimistic, but I don't think they will.

I had the impression that the OP had managed to solve the problem, unless the solved does not relate to something else, such as that he realized that it was a WL donation address.

solved
Yes it is wikileaks donatation address

any ideas who can own this address?

33wvNiUkXJAJ85e4yXJxJVWtsKqWDsDFK4

Is this the address from the WL donation page? As far as I can see they use SegWit addresses starting with 3, and the address you are interested in has a link to CoinPayments -> https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/577901d888720fab?from_address=33wvNiUkXJAJ85e4yXJxJVWtsKqWDsDFK4

what can i do with this information. please advice
