1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NODE Revolution: "Money is a means of payment, not speculation" (с) on: April 01, 2015, 10:04:15 AM
I stated a hundred or more pages ago that the problem with the coin was a lack of community. I see that is still the case.

Blaming the devs because they're not doing 100% of the heavy lifting is pretty pathetic, especially when citing "how a coin should work" when no community of willing participants has formed underneath it.

It cost many people ZERO to be involved in this coin. It cost others some BTC to do so. If you haven't learnt by now, in the several years we've had in this new frontier of virtual currencies, how to hedge your losses or back long term, then you're as bad as all those before you who complain that someone else hasn't made them rich quickly.

Noone held a gun against your head to buy into this product and it's the same as ALL other similar products on the market in that it requires a community to actually form and provide crowd-sourced help in soft skills such as marketing and promotion. The devs are coding and creating fiscal companies and brokering business deals - the community should be able to handle some simple fucking promotion. But it can't, and it wont, because there isn't a real community.

TLDR; stop fucking whining and start doing. All I see in this thread are sycophants, speculators and whiners. The only motive anyone has in this thread seems to be (from an outside observer) singular, personal gain. I have approx. 2BTC (EXPENSIVE BTC also, not today's prices BTC) sunk into NODE and I'm happy to wait it out unlike the vast majority posting in this thread.

Just quickly, I want to say keep going with these daily updates Nxtblg. They are fantastic insight into why the markets are reacting a certain way without having to blow hours reading the multiple information pools/forums around.

It's very much appreciated.

forged my own transaction. this is this not a vulnerability for attack?

It has been stated by koop that there will be in future a subset of rules to prevent gaming the PoA forging system. These are not yet implemented as far as I can tell, and the devs also have requested the community to think of attack vectors and rules to foil them.

perhaps mechanism which generates address  Grin

Well, I won't argue about it, but I don't understand really.  Genning a user account is some of the most basic crypto work of any coin and making that info piblic motivates people to use and develop on top of the coin. But, to each (coindev) his own.  I can wait.

Yes, that's it.  When you enter your passphrase, what are the hashing steps used to generate the private key, public key and final numeric address.

For instance, in Nxt, you take the passphrase, calculate the SHA-256 hash of it and then take the curve25519 of the SHA-256 hash.  This is your private key for signing.  Your pubkey is the SHA256 of the curve hash, and your address is derived from the first 8 bytes of the pubkey.

With that example, how does one generate all necessary transactional keys (priv, pub and address) from a passphrase?

EDIT

And I'd rather not call the node API.  When searching for patterns, you can search much faster if you don't have to call against an external application to generate your addresses.

Friend,
until the end of beta this information is in stealth mode, I think you know the reason Smiley
Regards,
Antonio

I don't think anyone knows the reason actually. This is basic stuff, done a million times before. If you can't do it because you don't know or don't have the time, just say so, don't beat around the bush.

This is what concerns me most about this coin. The number of fudsters, beggars and children clogging up this thread (the only place the community has at this point to congregate). While they're only a smattering of the number of investors in NODE, they seem to make up a significant portion of the vocal community.

The free giveaway at the beginning has brought in some real doozy investors with some silly and immature ideas that reek of get-rich-quick schemers.

Coin tech: promising
Devs: Active
Community: Non-existant.

File your post under fud also, newbie accounts seem to pop up a lot now just to fud.

I wouldn't mind seeing a small giveaway for new comers so they get a taste of what node has been up to now.

Your definition of FUD needs work. Concern that the public image of the community of NODE is immature is not FUD, it's an observation.

I'd suggest ignoring threedream. He just seems to be a less English-literate Taunsew.

Yes, thanks for being active and proactive James.

I have to agree with manfromaus it would be nice for unity holders on Bter to get the Pangea dividend issue delt with and their unity moved off there before anymore dividend distributions take place. I know it would give me some peace of mind as well as the other members of the FreakBros camp.

Fileing a second support ticket on the issue now  Wink

JJ

Agreed.....

Has the process for moving Unity to NXT changed at all? I keep scanning the thread but can't seem to find the instructions. (I am sure it is right in front of me)

All you have to do is is send your Unity to your NXT account number from your wallet, can't be simpler (unless it's a new account without any transactions then you have the public key issue to deal with - read back a few posts).

Always test first time with a small amount.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET asset 12071612744977229797, trading symbol UNITY on: December 03, 2014, 11:57:55 PM
SkyNET has been approved for release
It has sent me some instructions on what I need to do for it.
I hope to finish these soon.
In the meantime, can anybody get clarity on the Pangea dividend from bter? I think some customer support tickets need to be made

James

Is there any possibility to hold off distributing any other assets until we get news from BTER around the pangea dividend? Between no dividend showing up yet and being unable to withdraw my superNET at all to my own wallet I would rather not be stuck in a loop waiting for BTER to get their shit in gear and distributing the dividends before I can get my SuperNET out (for fear of missing out on the dividend distribution).

The price is actually pretty much exactly where it started. It hasn't fallen, it just temporarily went up.

People are so self centered and myopic.

Expected ROI at the beginning?

-40% due to my decision to HODL. That's my luck.

This is very important, I bet there are already people setting up thousands of wallets for forging. A minimum balance would make this more difficult and could stimulate normal users to set up extra nodes, improving security.

And we will be back to nxt forging system but with insta transactions and liteweight blockchain. Why reinvent the wheel if we can improve it?

Except that's not at all where it'll be at. It'll still be PoA but with a requirement for having a minimum buy in in order to forge. Prevents "spam" of forging accounts, the same reason why transaction fees exist at particular levels of cost (preventing spam of transactions bloating the blockchain, etc).

This reminds me of the hilarity I had trying to explain to my UK colleagues that they were wrong and that using GMT all year round was misleading. Half of them hadn't even heard of BST...

The number of times I had to wait an extra hour after getting up at 5am just to have a meeting with them became tiresome pretty quickly.

What is this "missed" you speak of?

My gut tells me this might be legit.

Download the client and play around with it, then you wont have to rely on your gut, you will be able to trust your eyes Wink. Tell me your address and ill send you a few nxt.

Well Anon, I saw this and followed your advice and downloaded the client. Wow. Had to actually register here on the forum (lurked forever, never needed to say anything before now though) to state how damn nice it is. Saw the asset exchange tab, did a bit of googling and found some details (what assets are, how to use them, how to play with them) - double wow. A "stock exchange" from within the client?

Guess I need to grab some nxt to play further, asset exchange looks way too much fun. I'm guessing most alt-coin exchanges have it if it's #3 market cap? Also, what's the official forum for NXT? I've found a few.
