1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: U.S. 220v power on: March 05, 2015, 07:11:55 PM
By the way, you don't "need" a special plug or an outlet to have 220V.
It just have to be connected appropriately.
I have few regular 5-15 and 5-20 outlets connected to have 220V.
Now, you do have to mark them properly, so that you don't plug in your 110V stuff there:)

Eliminates the need to have to buy special PSU power cords and such.

Bitmain, will you PLEASE start making the boards interchangeable with rack mount units … How fricken hard is it to engineer a board that can fit into a S4 or S2 for that matter … These units with the external power supply do not scale for home mining in any way … I think your engineers need to go to the woodshed , great work on power consumption but PLEASE think about helping the people who use real racks . Im not asking for a new unit, I would just like to swap out boards .

You can always go this route to improve the layout:

I'm not sure I understand what the C20 is doing there?

That PSU does not have the conventional C## input plug, only a proprietary IBM connector.
4  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: FS: Rack mount cases 4U [6 x Antminer S1, S3, L1(?)] and 2U [4 x DPS-2000bb] on: October 12, 2014, 05:19:53 PM
Wow! That is really nice job!
I have some fews question.

Does it come with all the power cable ?
Does it come with psu?
What is the lvl of db for the setup?

If I understand well I can put my 6 S3 in in and complety power it!

Great job man!

All of the components are available as well if you like.

About 50 dB at full speed.

You can power 24 Antminer S3s with 4 of these power supplies.

You'll need 4 hash cases and 1 PSU case to do all 24.

Most people will probably choose less than 24 to increase the PSU efficiency, as most PSUs are most efficient around 50% load.

Thanks!
5  Economy / Computer hardware / FS: Rack mount cases 4U [6 x Antminer S1, S3, L1(?)] and 2U [4 x DPS-2000bb] on: October 11, 2014, 09:58:18 PM
First prototypes are done and deployed as of 10/6/2014.

Hash case is 4U and holds 6 Antminer S3 (as well as S3+, S1->S3 upgrade) in stock form, or 8 S1s.

If at least 34" deep racks are used then cases can be modified to hold 9 S3s or 12 S1s.

With some mods to heatsink it is possible to squeese 8 of S3s there, but I'm not sure if it is worth the effort.
Fits 8 S1s as is.

DPS-2000BB case holds 4 PSUs as well as fans and breakout boards from GekkoScience.

Hash case comes with 6 of Delta PFC1212DE fans (~250CFM each) or stock Bitmain fans as well as pass though RJ 45 connectors as shown

With stock fans temps on miners are about 20 degrees C higher, but it is doable when done with proper cooling

PSU case comes with 8 of Delta PFR0612UHE or San Ace 9GA0612P1K611 fans (~51-53 CFM each).
There's a cover for PSU case that is not shown. it covers top and side with power cords.

Final design will be powder coated black as well as some other minor changes for improved access to wiring and break out board.

Working out final bugs right now.

Pricing will depend on how many cases are ordered.

As of right now with orders for 40 hash cases it's about $250 each.
If we can get it to at least a 100 it'll be less.

I should have the details in a day or 2.

Each PSU case can power 4 hash cases (24 miners)

Very nice.  I had picked up a few empty 4u cases to try to modify them to hold ant s1's, but i have to say - this looks so much nicer than what I was trying to rig together.

The PSU case is awesome - i was trying to figure out how to manage the psu's on the rack.  One really cool improvement would be if you could get an extension cable that went from the output of the power supply to the case where the ants where.  then mount the break out board in that case.  then the PCI-e cable mess would be enclosed in the ant miner case.

Thank you!

We are actually working on something like this as we speak.

These are Great!  Will probably order some depending on pricing.  Any reason why you didn't opt for an internal hub and one RJ-45 pass thru?

Space and power requirements mostly.

Any particular hub you thinking of?

12  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: FS: 4U Antminer S1 / S3 8 blades case on: August 12, 2014, 06:14:32 AM
I would be interested in a 4U Rackmount case for 8 blades.
Is it possible to modify the case or get some kinda adapter to mount 2x HP DPS-800GBA power supplies (w/ Gigampz boards) into the ATX slots?

Sure, given enough demand it is possible.

What's the fee?

Can't seem to find it anywhere...

Calculated it seems to be around 3%.

Is this correct?

I'm not sure if you saw this:

4U case, houses 8 S1 or S3 blades with 2 PSUs and 120 or 120/80 mm fans.

I don't see any port for the Ethernet cable that runs out of the front of the S3. (s3's arn't wireless) Also if this is a Urack server encloser where is the psu going. I like the idea but this just seems to be as effective as putting 3 S3's next to each other with ductape except room for Ethernet cable. Don't mean to sound harsh just don't see the point of current design. Would be interested in a 4 unit S3 Urack design with room for two of those dell 750w psu with breakout boards. Then we would be cooking with peanut oil.

I don't know where the port is on the new boards, so it makes no sense to try to guess.
Once S3s start shipping it'll be pretty clear.

18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer s1's on a rack on: July 07, 2014, 09:12:52 PM

looks nice, two suggestions:

1) KISS. Make the front and rear identical, similar to this image. might not rack as nicely without bottom/top/sides, but allows clean 3-wide builds
2) Re-design it so that 3*120mm fans cool 8-10 blades packed more densely. This would be terrific for those underclocking to 150GH/210W.

Here's the implementation of the above for the S3.

Also can be for S1.
