3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 🥕🪙 Altcoins and NFTs on Bitcoin with Taproot Assets Protocol on: February 15, 2024, 06:05:57 AM
**What are taproot assets**

This is meant to be a short survey of what taproot assets were created since the release of Taproot assets in October 2023.

Taproot assets is a protocol that supports fungible assets - currencies as well as non fungible assets - NFTs.
Asset is written on the BTC blockchain but the metadata is stored in a construct called Universes. So they don’t store data unchain as ordinals do.
Taproot assets do not carry any intrinsic functionality. They are minted with a specific supply and then co be transacted on BTC blockchain and later on Lightning Network. Minting taproot assets is cheap and easy. This sets it apart from ETH ecosystem the supports smart contracts.

Assets are searchable on Tiramisu wallet website
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies
also on lightning labs website
https://terminal.lightning.engineering/assets/

**Coins**
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies?asset_type=currencies

AdamCoin ( $AC )
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/currencies_public/2

- Minted by Tiramisu Wallet as an early test of how to mint assets
- Named after Adam meaning the first coin minted, inspired by the genesis story of Adam and Eve
- Very popular with Chinese community and likely the first coin to be traded on Lightning Network
- ~1400 holders and daily trading
- This coin is traded also off Tiramisu and held on other taproot assets nodes
- The coin maintains value between 2000 and 20 000 SATs / $AC and there is over 50 standing orders on this coin

MAXImalists ( $MAXI )
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/currencies_public/659

- Minted as a coin for Bitcoin maximalists
- Started and maintained by https://twitter.com/Maxionbitcoin
- The coin was airdropped to all Tiramisu holders
- A large volume of this coin was minted and the coin trades for 0.03 / $MAXI
- The coin has 26 000 holders and is traded frequently

Pepe ( $PePe )
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/currencies_public/15
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_currency_preview_image/15
- Minted by a crypto creator https://twitter.com/PepeRgb20 , https://pepe-rgb.wtf
- The creator focuses on minting Pepe memes on RGB protocol
- Thee is a whole story the creator has. He says that his Pepe is not a child anymore but an adolescent
- The coin has 175 holders and is traded for 0.6212 SAT / $PePe

Sunlight ( $Sun )
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/currencies_public/677
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_currency_preview_image/677
- We do not know much about the creator
- The number of assets minted is 396 429 - the speed of light

AdamUSD ( $USDA )
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/currencies_public/647
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_currency_preview_image/647
- Taproot Assets is meant to be a protocol mainly for stable coins
- AdamUSD is a proof of concept stable coin on Tiramisu
- It gives users an option to sell SATs / BTC and get into USD when BTC is low for example
- The price chart for this coin is basically an upside down Bitcoin price chart

**NFTs**
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_collections

Taproot Adam and Taproot Eve collections
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies?asset_type=nft&collection=TaprootAdam
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies?asset_type=nft&collection=TaprootEve
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_collection_preview_gif_image/27/35
- This collection is associated with AdamCoin and built on the same symbology
- It features the genesis characters Adam and Eve with various cryptocurrency related motifs - such as apple and snake. Also features AdamCoin logo.
- The collection was Airdropped to all Tiramisu wallet users and thus has 1.16K holders with 1.17K standing orders

Taproot cans
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies?asset_type=nft&collection=TaprootCans
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_collection_preview_gif_image/4/35
- This is a crypto version of Andy Warhol Campbell soup cans with BTC and crypto themes
- Founded by cantoshi_btc

Taproot monkeys
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/public_currencies?asset_type=nft&collection=TaprootApes
https://mainnet.tiramisuwallet.com/walletapp/get_collection_preview_gif_image/5/35
- Shows different monkeys eating root
- This is an obvious play on the bored monkeys and taproot
- Founder of the collection is silverbacktoshi
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Taro: A new protocol for multi-asset Bitcoin and Lightning on: September 16, 2023, 02:03:31 PM
As for updates on Taproot Assets:

1.) Yes there has been a change because Tari Labs filed a lawsuit against Lightning Labs that Taro sounds too similar. as a result Lightning Labs decided to rebrand rather than fight the lawsuit.

2.) The Taproot Assets Protocol Deamon tapd that run on top of LND is now pretty stable. It sometimes crashes when you don't wait for one black between making transactions.

3.) Taro Assets now only works on-chain. The part with making lightning channels is not yet started but they have some blueprints on how to do it.

As for Tiramisu wallet:

1.) We deployed a test Taproot Assets store that can be found here
https://tapd-store.tarowallet.net
This can be used for testing of your TAPD node.

2.) We newly track testnet asset prices as you can see here
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/currencies_public/3

3.) We support a bunch of faucets also intended for testing
NFT faucet:
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=nft
Other currency faucets:
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=7
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=3
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=8

4.) We maintain a list of NFTs and fungible currencies that you can sell, buy, send, receive or mint your own:
Currencies

https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/currencies_public/3

For those who are interested here are a few NFTs and currencies that I have minted on Taro represented as summary website pages.

An initial test NFT

A girl investing in Bitcoin NFT

Diamond hands NFT

You can get more NFT for testing of your node here https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=nft

A test fungible currency called Beckycoin

there is a faucet for this currency as well here https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=294

Right now I am including the images into metadata resulting in pretty long genesis_bootstrap_info as well as long invoices. Lightning Labs have a PR to fix this https://github.com/lightninglabs/taro/pull/249 .

Hi,

sorry, I am now only supporting the testnet legacy adresses (P2PKH) .

Not ideal I know.
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Taro: A new protocol for multi-asset Bitcoin and Lightning on: February 15, 2023, 01:53:35 PM
Hi,

thanks for your reply.

Yes. Right now it is a CUSTODIAL web wallet. Developing a non-custodial Taro wallet is possible but it would require more implicated approach. I know that privacy-wise there are MILES to go. I am planning to expose an API and release a web app but this is what we have for now.

As for the license - yes I will add this to my TODO list. You are correct this is kind of crucial.

As for username and password - I decided to only go with the basic necessities. I am intentionally not collecting emails.

Is there something wrong with generating invoices? I filled in the description and clicked the button, but I wasn't given anything and the page just keeps refreshing every few seconds.

Hi,

thanks for the feedback.

Right now some operations can be kind of slow.

It is because at the time I wrote the web app tarod would crash if you tried to mint and generate invoices at the same time.

It would also break if you try to mint multiple assets in the same block.

So the web app waits with generating the invoice until all minting requests are processed.

It is a very shitty UX I am sorry and have added this on my list of things to fix.

Also thanks a lot for giving this a test ride - very helpful.
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 🪙💎♣️♦️Altcoins and NFTs on Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning with Taro on: February 15, 2023, 01:40:02 PM
As you may have heard. Taro Protocol was recently released to Bitcoin Testnet. This protocol will allow for alt-coins on BTC blockchain as well as Lightning. It will also allow for NFTs that don't take tons of space like ordinals.

Here is a wallet for this protocol here
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/

If you are already running a taro node / tarod you can use it to test your node. If you just want to play and learn you can mint your own Taro Assets as well as send them and deposit them.

There are multiple alt coin and NFT faucets available as well:
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=4
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=nft

Here is the Tarod repo for those that want to contribute to the project:
https://github.com/lightninglabs/taro
It is now being developed by Lightning labs.

Oh noes, please stay away from Bitcoin with this shitcoin/NFT mumbo-jumbo! Ethereum is a perfect blockchain for such a purpose, don't you think so? What are the advantages of using Taro for the common Bitcoin users apart from ability to send scam images with pseudo value back and forth?  Grin

You don't have to use it. If it is going to do anything it will be that it makes your Bitcoins more valuable.
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 🪙💎♣️♦️Altcoins and NFTs on Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning with Taro on: February 15, 2023, 01:24:51 PM

I visited the page, but greeted with very long error message with start with "DoesNotExist at /walletapp/faucet/" and ends with "You’re seeing this error because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file. Change that to False, and Django will display a standard page generated by the handler for this status code.".

You're being rude. You don't even realize if more people use RGB/Taro rather than Ordinal, there'll be less bloat on Bitcoin blockchain.

As for the error: Yes I am sorry, I had to switch the testnet currencies that I am offering. I had to nuke the entire DB and tarod files as my taro node crashed.

Thanks - yes I will change DEBUG = False.
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 🪙💎♣️♦️Altcoins and NFTs on Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning with Taro on: February 15, 2023, 01:18:30 PM
There are some grammar mistakes on your wallet site, e.g. Taro "fausets" "facets". Were you in a rush to release this?

As for the grammar errors, etc - thank you for pointing that out to me. Yes I was kind of in the rush as I want everything to be ready by the time Taro hits main net. I am originally from Europe and English is not my first language.

I will fix the errors.

Also I do not think this will ever make too much money as the level of activity on Lightning is still limited.

How can I make a NFT out of my avatar?

Hi,

As for making NFTs - just click on Mint assets after logging into the wallet and then select NFT.

This will create an asset on Taro with image as a part of the metadata.

Here is a manual:

I have created a web wallet for Taro that you can find here
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/
This wallet is still in alpha experimental stage of development, but why do I need to create online account with username and password, instead of downloading wallet and installing it on my computer?
I am not interested in creating and using any altcoins or nft with this wallet, but I would consider using it as alternative for stable coins.
Another problem I have with this wallet is that I can't find any information about license, so you might want to add this on website.

I have created a web wallet for Taro that you can find here
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/

You can use it to test your taro nodes.

The wallet is now only active on testnet but will move to main net as soon as I can.

I have also created a Taro NFT faucet that you can find here
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=nft
(went with tarot cards as NFTs, sorry I know it is lame)

as well as some standard fungible asset faucets
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=294
https://testnet.tarowallet.net/walletapp/faucet/?currency=293

Hope it helps you with testing and development.

Thanks for pointing me to the thread.

Taro was active for a few weeks. I think over the past 1 month it really become useful with now errors.

Yes LL like to make tuns of press releases, I kind of like it though as they seem to be building a solid community around it.

As for RGB, I have heard about the protocol. I last checked their progress about 6 months ago. Will have to leek what progress they made.

Hi all, I have recently started a marketing platform that allows anyone to earn BTC Bitcoin in exchange for writing blog articles and creating social media posts promoting registered businesses.

We are offering a compensation of 0.00000360 BTC ( 0.18 USD) per click that your posts generate - Bitcoin is at $40k now so this number seems kind of low now...

Its seems more like a affiliate marketing where you will get payment if you can bring anyone to their site. We can write posts or blogs  anywhere on the internet with our affiliate link ? How will you track this that by whom click a person reached your site (though he may not be willing to do business with you) ?

Quote
You will be paid for every legitimate click your affiliate link brings to the business websites you choose to promote.

Hi noormcs5,

thank for your reply.

Yes we are an affiliate marketing platform and yes you can write articles anywhere on the Internet.

In fact they don't have to be articles - they can be Youtube videos, twitter posts, social media posts or reddit posts. It is up you your creativity and ingenuity. We mainly encourage influencers to write reviews, howto articles and product comparison articles.

You as an influencer will be paid for every click. We use proprietary algorithms to figure out if the customers that you brought generated any conversions / bought anything / created an account.

Like this you as an influencer do not have to worry and wait until you find a customer who will click on the affiliate link and buy something.

I hope this helps.

are you really expecting people to remember that long domain name/ url ?
already prejudged your platform just from the URL

Thanks for pointing that out. Yes the domain will have to be shorter.
