1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you have a hard time bringing new people to the forum? on: February 06, 2024, 08:02:04 PM
Why do you need to tell everyone about the forum? I don't talk about crypto or about this forum with non-crypto people because I see how hard it is to convince a non-crypto person about crypto. When they heard about crypto, they started calling it a scam and when they saw the forum they gave disappointed feedback about the forum appearances. People used to use platforms like twitter, facebook where they saw a nice UI so these people don't feel comfortable using this basic UI system.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who is buying like me on: February 06, 2024, 07:58:11 PM
wasn't it buy the rumors and sell the news events? I think the news has been sold and now the time for consolidation for bitcoin. IMO bitcoin will not start moving upward before the halving and even after the halving bitcoin will still continue moving sideways. In the meantime all those ETF managers will keep buying bitcoin and they will emerge as the biggest bitcoin holders in the industry. Which is good for the short term but in the long term this things can turn ugly.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie gathering Club on: February 06, 2024, 07:33:00 PM
As I'm new and want to learn more maybe there are many people like me
so let this topic be a Gathering Club where all new users can find useful links

Post links of topics that must be read by new people to have a better perspective of the forum

thanks in advance for anyone who spend some time to help others

So what will all these newbies do together? What will be the use of a group of untrained soldiers in a group? The only thing they can do is create more chaos in the forum. And in most cases, this self-supporting group turned into a merit farming group where people exchanged merit with each other to rank up. The best thing a newbie can do is read what some OG members of the forum post and learn from them. I don't see a better alternative than this right now.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I actually doing it right? on: February 06, 2024, 07:30:09 PM

I was introduced to this forum by a brother five months ago and I always call him to ask questions about the do's and don't's of this forum but I think it's high time I started asking the right questions here by myself, hence this post.

I've made almost a hundred posts and yet I have only few merit, what am I doing wrong? Are my posts not quality enough? If yes, please I need corrections and guidelines to grow my account. I truly need words of encouragement and affirmation that am on the right track to enable me step up in the game and I also need you guys to help me point out some of my posts that aren't so good, if there are any, so I can learn from my mistakes and do better.

I would have sent a direct message to some senior men here to get some information but this place isn't like social media and I don't know how to, as a newbie that I am, I know most of us will tell me about rules and regulations, plagiarism, spamming, but y'all don't have to worry about that because am a rule keeper and I avoid plagiarism and the rest of it like a plague.

So we have another merit farmer in here. To get more merit first thing you need to do is stop posting for merit. Trust me i got more merit on posts where i did not expect to get merit than the post i made to get some nice shiny merits. Use this forum like you use other social media platforms just keep interacting with other people with knowledge and facts so that they learn something from you and drop some nice merit in your post. Still you won't get merit in all of your posts because many good posts just don't catch the eye of the merit sources and remain unmerited.
5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most Traders are Not Profitable on: February 06, 2024, 06:55:31 PM
Just think if someone is making a lot of money he will share his strategy with others if there isn't any benefit for him. A successful trader won't waste his time making videos to teach others if there aren't any benefits for him on that because trading requires a lot of time so if he gets any free time he will use that with his family or in something fun for a refreshment. Most of the youtube trading channel owner is content creator, not a trader. They earn by making content not by doing trading so the strategy they share is not tested in the real market. They just made those to impress his audiencee.
6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: As a trader never settle for less on: February 06, 2024, 06:47:16 PM
In fact, everyone wants to earn money, not only the rich are earning money, but they have more opportunities to earn money than the poor who do not have money to invest. So they don't have anything to invest, so they stay at their same place, they can't move forward, while what the rich have is more money, they invest what they have somewhere, then someone any money that he has starts getting ego, while the poor person stands in his place and earns money with what he has. If opportunities are not available, then he cannot move from that place because he has nothing to invest .

You won't get the opportunity if you can not see it. Rich people become more rich because they see the opportunity and use it to make money. If you take away all the wealth of a successful businessman and leave him as he is an average man he will still be rich if he gets some time in his life. Rich people have different mindsets and point of view about their surroundings. When some people are doing something for fun business-minded people do that same fun by at the same time they will figure out a way to make money from it.
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is hard!!! on: February 06, 2024, 06:42:18 PM
Trading is like a game. You need to find the pattern and use that to make the best out of it. Recently i saw a documentary about a young boy who made millions of dollars by trading by using his soccer video gaming mind. He was very good at playing online soccer games and he was very patience. He used to observe his opponent for a long time and then strategies for his move. Trading is also something like that where you study the market, find the pattern, and make plan for your next move.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: are we returning to stone age? on: February 06, 2024, 06:37:41 PM
We are not going to the stone Age but we are seeing major economic changes worldwide. The power is shifting and the world economy is balancing on its own. The superpower America and its currencies losing their power and dominance. Countries like china, India, brazil aim to create a common economic zone by keeping USA aside. This can create more instability as the USA will not let their power and dominance that easily. The world is shifting towards a multipolar economy.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: A course worth studying ? on: February 06, 2024, 06:33:39 PM
So, I watched a video recently where the guest speaker said, that if he gets the opportunity to advise teens in high school he would tell them not to study economics, and it made me scared because I'm studying economics. So, it was like... ' Did I make the wrong choice or something? '. Moving further in the video, I realized that what he was saying and explaining had already been said by my economics lecturer before.

"Economics is a day-to-day practice and is an easy endeavor made difficult for study reasons", he usually said. Watching the video to the end, I asked myself, "If I had the opportunity to go back in time would I pick another course to study? " And the answer was ..." No". And if I have the opportunity to advise any high school student about courses to choose... I'd say "Economics". The more people learn about even basic economics, the better the economy of countries.

So, if you had the opportunity to advise people about courses to choose In University, what would it be and why?

We need more information about that person and details about the context where he made that statement because having a basic financial education is the most important thing in a person's life if he wants to have stable financial health. The economy is also a part of that financial education so that person is wrong. People have different points of view and the meaning of a statement changes based on the place and time they were mentioned. Sometimes a statement holds a metaphoric meaning.
10  Economy / Economics / Re: The savings problem on: February 06, 2024, 06:29:29 PM
PPP is declining in most countries. It looks like the whole world economy is going to see a recession. Unemployment problems, higher educational and medical expenses, disease and war in various parts of the globe caused some instability which caused this imbalance. Also the capitalist system makes the wealthiest more wealthy and poor people poorer. So when poor people can not afford most of the primary needs, wealthy people can afford everything.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Leadership and Economics on: February 06, 2024, 06:21:43 PM
A charismatic leader can turn a nation into a super power. A leader needs to be brave, farsighted and diplomatic to build his nation. Without a leader a nation is like a unguided mob who don't know what to do. So for economic development leadership is important. Just look at how a country like japan became so well developed even they are low in natural resources. Malaysia and Vietnam can be a great example of that to show how leadership can change a countries economy.
12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No one has gone broke taking profits, always take profits. on: February 05, 2024, 04:56:13 AM
Someone says its harder to get a perfect entry than a nice exit. You can enter the market anytime you want and make profit but if you don't have any plan to exit from the market then your profit will only satisfy your eye not your pocket. So we should know when it is time to exit from the project we get in the bear market when everything was dumping. That is the reason a money management strategy is an important part of a trader's life. Everything needs to be according to the plan.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are memecoins tarnishing the image of crypto? on: February 05, 2024, 04:52:11 AM
I consider meme coins as scammer coins. Whoever issued meme coin just wants some free money because it doesn't have any other usecase. Why do people still want to invest in meme coin? Why don't all the blockchains issue their meme coin and pump those coins by locking most of the tokens within their wallet? Investor sees how all the meme coins are doing 100X within weeks so they want to jump on that train too. Meme coin don't have any future so if you can grab one before it starts pumping you can buy a tiny amount so that in case it shoots you get a lucky profit.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: Another war in the Middle East could be dire for the economy on: February 04, 2024, 04:47:59 PM
Middle East is highly volatile in its political situation today and also in the past. This is the busy trade route between asia and western countries so whoever controls this part can profit from the trade. This tension in the middle east can escalate further due to the Western interests aligning with Israel and their ally. Countries like kingdom of saudi, UAE, dubai haven't been affected much due to their not being a part of the direct conflict in the region so the only one suffering is the one who already fought the war.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: #HODLing is not a smooth journey on: February 04, 2024, 04:40:20 PM
If we are sure about crypto assets, I would agree that holdings are good in the long term, actually, because we can get a profit for sure in that matter. So of course, while we are holding a holding asset, we have a passage that we must prepare for.

Because this is where our patience, or being patient, is measured, when we are taken by what is happening in the market, if we pay attention to the fact that what is happening is a decline, it is possible that it will break or test our patience. We should not be taken by negative events in the market.

Don't be so sure about your crypto asset, as in one of Coingeko's article they said that there are over 24k token listed on their website, and from that, more than 14k token are dead. From that 10k tokens, more than 50% are zombie tokens, which means they are listed in the exchange but no one is talking about or trading them. If this is true, then the number of guaranteed-profit projects isn't that high among the vast majority of altcoins. Though there are still a lot of projects to invest in, you need to have two experienced eye to catch them in the crowd.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Coping with Risk. on: January 30, 2024, 11:57:18 PM
We know that regardless of the prospect of any business or investment, understanding the risk involved in the business is an integral part of the consideration one should consider before venturing into the business and when it comes to bitcoin investment, it's very basic yo know that the major risk associated with it are just a few of the ones below which could either be issue relating to hacking, lost or misplaced seed phrase or possibly sending your crypto holding to the wrong address considering it irreversible nature.

In our normal business we have risk also that are damn much which could range from fire outbreak, stealing, bad market, spoilage and lots of other factor that makes starting a physical business very risky and to have high possibility of yielding great loss.

so my question is, which is more risky?

A). Running a physical business that has a whole lot of risk associated with it or

B) running an online investment with high risk of hack that could result in you loosing all your asset.

Diversification is the key to minimizing the risk because it distributes the risk to various places and businesses. All the risk you have mentioned have their counterpart to eliminate those risks. Fire outbreak problems can be solved by adding fire safety measures, stealing can be eliminated by adding more security, bad markets can be solved by adding a money management strategy, and online hacking can also be solved. They won't give 100% protection but the risk of being in one of those will reduced a lot.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When it comes to selling , is it best to convert or sell for cheaper fees? on: January 30, 2024, 02:43:29 PM
There won't be much difference i guess. Either way, you will get the same amount but in the convert option you will have a very basic and simple interface that is convenient for many users. Also sometimes exchanges charge extra fees and sometimes they lift any kind of fees to motivate users to use convert option. Only one click can remove all of your hussle with the market limit order. Convert features is more like a market order type to me where you just click buy and it will buy at the market price.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rate at which p2p merchant are frauding people are high - always be vigillant on: January 30, 2024, 01:57:03 PM
Yes, yesterday I almost fell for a P2P scam. Mine was the regular way these merchants always try to set people up. I had placed an order, and he approved that he had sent the amount to my account, but he did not. I told him he insisted I release it because he had sent it and I would see it in less than 5 minutes. I knew he wanted to scam me, so I left him and slept off. He then knew I wasn't going to fall for his trap and sent the money after so many hours.

But waking up this morning, a friend of mine had similar issues, but this time the scammer came with a little twist. My friend told me he had placed an order for $70 since he needed some funds. As he wanted to click the sell button, the price changed, and he refreshed it again. So he bothered not to check again and procedd with the order as he got the alert in his phone he saw that the merchacnt changed the order from  $1 = 1,460 Naira to $1 = 1,270 Naira.

He reported the account, and up until now, support is still settling the issues with which they have restricted his trade. Brothers, be careful. Always be vigilant to check before releasing any of your assets. These merchants are cunny.

This happens on Binance or some other platform you were using. I have seen a similar pattern in my country where some scammers send SMS to the seller's phone number, which looks similar to the one you get from the bank when your account has received a deposit. Sometimes busy people don't bother to check their account balance in the bank and release the funds. P2P option is the most convenient option for people where bank don't allow crypto deposit thats why scammers are targeting people who are using this features.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do many people fail in trade? on: January 30, 2024, 01:28:50 PM
Many people think that it's easy to buy low and sell high but when it comes to the real market they find that its extremely hard to get a perfect bottom to take entry. This is impossible to take entry at the bottom we need to make strategy to work things done where we can still make profit even we failed to get a better entry. New traders don't understand or wanted to work on this. They tried to find how others are making profit and wanted to use that for themself which doesn't work most of the time.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is arbitrage still possible in crypto ? on: January 30, 2024, 01:26:12 PM
is arbitrage still possible in crypto ? anyone has any luck with this method ?

It is possible but to make a significant profit you need to have a good amount of funds and time to observe the market. Also people and exchanges are using bots to find any arbitrage opportunity to make profit so it becomes harder for retail investor to make money by doing arbitrage trading. Still some people manage to find opportunity from the market but to make profit from arbitrage you need to be very fast because the opportunity can last for only few minutes or seconds.
