1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Scam Reports - Glasschain.org on: March 25, 2022, 10:46:24 AM
Oh god, you had to add something about the footprint and had to make a mess of it, looking at the energy consumption (375,395,871 KWh) how did you even manage to get there, even if the entire hashrate of 200Exa would be generated by 4-year-old gear like the s11 you would get better numbers, how on earth did you manage to get every fact so wrong?

But the real disappointment is below:

Quote
Now we know that a minter gets rewarded 6.25 + transaction fees for each block. At 40,000 USD a Bitcoin, that means a miner that successfully finds a block gets 250,000 USD.
~
Well, the transaction senders (output spenders) foot the bill due to the nature of the limitations the block size as miners must select which transactions they add, and they will definitely prefer the ones that pay more transaction fees. How this will impact the mining business is not something we can predict or understand (yet) but its certain that this amount of consumption cannot go on and be paid by a couple transaction creators as when broken down, it would be enormous. A simple transaction from 1 output to 2 outputs (receiver + change) would need to incur around 300 USD of fees (time of writing) in order to pay for the electricity alone

If one miner gets $250k and he would have to cover that from transactions alone, looking back at the exact last 3 blocks mined as I type:

Quote
728511   ‎2022-03-22 13:11   1 minute ago   2,706  Transactions
728510   ‎2022-03-22 12:58   14 minutes ago   3,351  Transactions
728509   ‎2022-03-22 12:53   19 minutes ago   3,186  Transactions

Can you explain somehow to me how 250 000 / 3 000 =300?

Rather than copying digiconomist you would be better off dropping the entire section altogether. With things like this one below, you're just doing a disservice to bitcoin

Stick to labeling addresses, please!!!

we work with cambdrige and its data and don't have to or want to copy anything from digiconomist. We just show data, don't do crypto polictics.

The KWh is calculated based on the GW consumption data from cambdrige. GW to KWh is pretty simple to calculate. Feel free to do the math backwards and you will reach 15.6 GW.
We are actually lower than most estimations and we have full faith in cambridge data being the most accurate.

The polluter pays principle has been applied.

It would be awesome if someone knows a scam that it gets reported to https://glasschain.org/
Now we cannot 100% guarantee we will be able to pick it up but we do most of the cases and start an investigation. what helps are

- names of businesses
- websites
- bitcoin addresses (if available)

Contact via chat there or report directly

We would be pleased if users who have been scamed report those scams on our free to use platform https://glasschain.org/
In this section people post proofs and accusations if someone scammed them or other people.
If you are part of the Glasschain team than I think you should move this topic to better place, something like Service Announcements or Project Development and not in Scam Accusations section.
For moving topic, scroll down to bottom left, than click move topic button, and then select correct section.

that would make sense but I have spent some time going through that board and I seen similar stuff not giving me the feeling my selection of board is that out of place and I think if someone would like to report, maybe this person comes here first.
I don't want to advertise my company yet as this is the free to use non profit product we keep pushing. the paid service will be announced properly but has a different target audience

One doesn't need an account to report and we do not store anything but the report.
THe exchanges we work together I cannot disclose but its just 2 for now (swiss). We just started but are certain that by the end of the year, there will be more. We focus actually more on custodial brokers as this is where scamers go, not classic exchanges.

Three things:

One, it is correct that you're wrong on your thread placement. To make it simple, scam accusation board exist for people to report scam, and service announcement board is for --surprise, surprise-- announcing one's service. As your thread serves a purpose to announce your service, disregarding if it's paid or free, and not to accuse anyone, your thread should belong to the service board. If any, your thread title could mislead people who just read the title and not the posts within, backfire to you by giving an impression that "(I am posting a) scam report (thread about) Glasschain.org."

Two, your reasoning of using this board and not the others --because you feels that this is the right place as people came here to report scam-- is somewhat rather weak and could indicate a minimum effort to really chase scammers and contribute to cryptocommunity, because if you're really dedicate yourself to eradicate scam projects, you could actually post on the service ann board and frequently visit this board yourself to update your database by yourself based on the reports posted --and proven-- here instead of waiting for them to come to you.

Three, just out of curiosity, you claimed that your site, I quote, "do not store anything but the report." however, it appears to me that visitors on your website didn't have an option to decline your ToS upon accessing your website, that you will store some personal details, as there's only one button and it reads "accept". Why?

It has been moved now. will add more information as we have them ready.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Occupational hazards of trading crypto on: March 18, 2022, 02:56:26 PM
Well going bankrupt and killing yourself is probably the biggest hazard out there besides the 24/7 stress.
What is also unfortunate is that it seems bullruns are much shorter than bear cycles. meaning your happy time is less.

and it doesn't matter where you bought BTC. if you bought at 100, we go to 70k and back to 40k. the 40k hurts. Thats just how humans are. only few can zoom out and see the big picture.

You can report entities, wallets and individual addresses directly. We review every single report on a weekly basis with our analytical team and if you have done it with an account, we actually would reach out to the user if we think there is a good chance to recover the funds. The .org is the free to use tool that will always remain free to use as we have a paid version for b2b only.

Love it or hate it, but we disliked the way current projects are handling reports and we are also working closes with law enforcement and soon will show official reports from their databases on our website.

Ethereum, BSC and Polygon will be launched one after the other starting from mid year.

If someone wants to join the team, contact us.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin censorship for Russian addresses? on: March 10, 2022, 09:07:20 PM
What is a russian Bitcoin Address?
The problem I see here is that most wallets identified as having russian clients, is that they have all CIS clients combined (which includes Ukranian).
An Example is the Binance CIS deposit wallet https://glasschain.org/btc/wallet/73871491
Same goes for p2p exchanges heavily used in Russia AND Ukraine like Bitzlato https://glasschain.org/btc/wallet/89298296

So even saying that this wallet is "russian" is horribly wrong as you might understand.

I don't think on a blockchain level, there is anything one can do or should be doing as its at best a heuristic logic that is highly inaccurate.

the OFAC (Office of foreign asset control from the US Treasury) has a sanction list with bitcoin addresses on it and if they put addresses (who belong to russians) on the list, then they certainly will have trouble depositing their coins into any reputable exchange but thats all I know they can do.

There is no way one can be sure an address is "russian"

all of us. so simple Wink
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoin transaction is taking forever on: February 21, 2022, 09:29:06 AM
That transaction was a transaction issued by Kraken according to our page https://glasschain.org/btc/Transaction/58420c234aa299a77491fe5db378720768e12132bfc2e776575aff21a2de9b67

So I assume you did a withdraw and not issue this TX yourself.
11  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin blockchain data APIs on: February 21, 2022, 09:13:53 AM
I'm working on a personal project that requires fetching bitcoin balances for many addresses at once so I've been looking at APIs that provide this data.

Here are the APIs I've found so far. Does anyone know of any others that are worth checking out? Has anyone had good or bad experiences with these APIs?

¹ For blockchair.com a single HTTP request to the mass balance check endpoint costs 1 + 0.001/numAddresses requests. For example, retreiving 1,000 address balances will cost 2 requests.
² No documented api limits.

How many requests are we talking? We could offer you a service free of charge for that as we have all the Data and like to help out others. we are www.glasschain.org
