1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 0NE project [launch TODAY < 20 minutes]|0NE|Support company details in OP on: June 21, 2014, 02:31:28 PM
Got a problem.

0ne.pool.mn I am using the cgminer.exe with the following command:
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.pool.mn:7891 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword

If i use the --scrypt command is unreconized, changing it to --script has the same results.

The instructions I got came from "Getting Started" page on 0ne.pool.mn

So that was for the CGMiner.exe

I decided to try the other BFG miner for Windows. Got this error when launching:

Pool 0 is hiding block contents from us

Huh What am I doing wrong?

could you try sgminer instead of cgminer ?

Update - Went and downloaded the cgminer from the official website. I believe it was 3.1.1 or something? Someone posted a version over 3.7 I believe doesn't support --scrypt. So I got 3.1.1, connected to the pool and is working. Now to go and fix my other rigs.

Funny. My two workers were the first to hit the network.

Question - Why is "setgenerate true -1" disabled in the wallet? Are you going to release a new one with that enabled for solo miners from the launch? Or are we forced to work in pools?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 0NE project [launch TODAY < 20 minutes]|0NE|Support company details in OP on: June 21, 2014, 01:45:40 PM
Note: for windows cgminer.exe the --script seems to bug out. I removed it for the mining pool and it seems to work fine without the --script command. Using the basic copy/paste from the mining pool for the commands. Also setting passwords for the workers I have.

Make sure to distro those passwords when launch comes Wink

edit:

This doesn't work for me x64 Windows: cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.pool.mn:7891 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword

This seems to: cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.pool.mn:7891 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword

Is this correct?

Are you willing to provide escrow for this? Since you're new here of course..

Completely understandable request and yes I can arrange (or you can suggest) an escrow service to use. Honestly, if you have used one before in the past and are very satisfied with their escrow service, I would be inclined and prefer to use that one since you feel secure with them.

12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: setgenerate true - how to know when you find something on: June 21, 2014, 11:10:10 AM
So, I use pools to do my mining. But in the older days, or using the next altcoin that has came out, sometimes you can solo mine and get some coins?

Using the "setgenerate true -1" command, if you were to mine a coin if you will, how will you know when you do so? Will it just appear in your wallet or will it show in your transactions as pending?

This is a question I always wanted to ask. Thanks.
Hello,
When you solo mining you receive it as a transaction in your wallet. I managed to mine some particles back in the days, but I did it at the coin release and all the blocks i got was orphan and appeared as unconfirmed transactions for just a moment and then were gone :/
Hope i helped:)
BR
Gondel

Great explanation! And to clarify (for me and all others who might find this post via search engines), an orphaned or "stale" block is a block that has already been solved by someone else. Example, everyone in the world is working on block 12345. If I solve it about 4 seconds before you do, then I will get the block and yours will be orphaned because your wallet did not update fast enough to note the change to the next block before you solved it right?

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 15-Year-Old Makes $100,000 on Bitcoin on: June 21, 2014, 09:32:59 AM
That is a very cool story. There is a good chance he regrets selling his BTC though.

Haha, that is true. But there was the chance to cash out and take the winnings vs loosing the money already made. At this point I can't say I blame him...
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail? on: June 21, 2014, 09:26:13 AM
Failing is a very tough word. Crash? Maybe... spike to 2k USD is more likely before BTC is gone back to 100 USD again.

With all the crypto currencies using BTC as their main "conversion" price, if you will, and it being the oldest in the book, its pretty safe to say unless it undergoes a major hack in the future, it will always be worth "something". Also, I have to mention the markets online that use the (darknet markets), which have a strong backbone in supporting its pricing, I would say were a long way away from seeing BTC go to nothing.
16  Bitcoin / Mining / setgenerate true - how to know when you find something? on: June 21, 2014, 08:07:27 AM
I use pools to mine, but I always wondered, when you use the command in the debug window "setgenerate true -1", how will you know when you find something? Will it just show up in your wallet?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Digital Ocean Riecoin Ypool Pool Mining Guide! CPU only! [RIC] on: June 18, 2014, 05:56:54 AM
Also this seems to crash often, do you know how to auto restart this if it crashes?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Digital Ocean Riecoin Ypool Pool Mining Guide! CPU only! [RIC] on: June 18, 2014, 05:48:10 AM
Coin is hard to mine! And the miner is a bit unstable. Do at your own risk!

Difficulty goes up fast!

1) Please use my referral https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=9d68ca19e204 and create a droplet 2CPU 2GB Ram Ubuntu 13.10 64x .It must be 1GB or more. You can create up to 5 droplets.
2) Connect with putty using using ip and password or just write those in the console. 1 putty per droplet! You can always download putty from here http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html  Putty is better cause you can copy paste everything:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install yasm -y git make g++ build-essential libminiupnpc-dev

sudo apt-get install -y libboost-all-dev libdb++-dev libgmp-dev libssl-dev dos2unix

git clone https://github.com/clintar/xptMiner

cd xptMiner

nano Makefile

Change the word native to corei7 both here:

CFLAGS += -march=native

and here:

CXXFLAGS += -march=native

Then press Ctrl X and then hit Y and hit enter.

make -f Makefile

cd

screen -S rie ./xptMiner/xptminer -o http://ypool.net -u papari.do1 -p do1  -t 4

And you are now mining! Of course change to your worker username and password! The ones that you have made on ypool webpage (which is down right now due to DDoS)

If you want to close putty you have to first press Ctrl A and then D and you can now safely close putty without stopping mining. However since miner is unstable you should probably monitoring it in case it stops.

When you open again putty you just type screen -r and you can see the miner again.

If you have any problems please ask here so others can see the replies!

Ran this on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a VPS via Putty. My question is the "-t 4" can I leave that out and still have the same efficiency? Or do I need to include the -t command? I am assuming that is the thread count.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online Wallet Anyone? on: June 18, 2014, 03:58:21 AM
Does anyone know of an online storage wallet that allows multiples coins to be stored i.e. Bitcoins, Litecoins, Dogecoins etc.?

Also, what is the securest way in your opinion to store coins? Cold storage such as a USB drive and locked in your safe or written down on paper and saved I am assuming?
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Online Wallet Anyone? on: June 18, 2014, 02:22:04 AM
Considering the following:

1. I have several PC's mining.
2. I want to have a centralized wallet.
3. I want to make sure it is backed up.
4. I want access to it wherever I go (even if its RDP or teamviewer accessed).

What are the true risk for using an online wallet vs a personal node based (PC) wallet? I know you can backup your wallet and encrypt it on your PC, backing it up to Dropbox or similar. But how many people use online wallets?

I know the risk are only in how secure they have their infrastructure, and looking into the past it seems some have been hacked. But how secure are they now? And how often do you hear of them being hacked?

Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time.
