what would the benifits be to half solo/half pool?  From what I understand running solo is only a good idea if you can finish a block in a decent amount of time, and pools are more for those who want quick payout/low level rigs.  Could you enlighten me into this half/half idea?

When does the payout reduce to $25 from $50?
From what I understand, late 2012.

did u mean to say when will the BTC per block drop from 50 BTC per block to 25 BTC per block?  In that case, yes, according to current rates, sometime in 2012.  But BTC price as of now is ~14 USD per BTC. Not 50 nor even near 25.

hey, im brand new to mining.... how can i set up a solo mine except use computers from different locations? eg
my home deskop
my work desktop (im self employed)
my server
ect ect

obviously i want them to all contribute to one solo mine... or am i better of putting them all into the same pool? is solo mining worth it?

Just requesting some background info here- your work desktop-  do you do some sort of video editing/ idk that you happen to have some really good gpu's in your work desktop?  You might want to be careful to not burn these out too fast if you have to use these for work as well, as any downtime in your work environment would obviously be a huge downside

Also, your server, what do you you have in there that works so well for mining?  My understanding is that right now gpu's are the best way ( the only way really) to get decent mhash.  Also at first I looked into buying used server's for mass mining, but from what i read this overall would not pay off for the energy costs.  Is this a server out of your house?

Just curious- new to this whole thing, interested in what you can get out of your server mostly.

I can't imagine a better way to attract the wrong sort of attention.

What do you mean by this?

The US department of Justice recently took action against a number of overseas sites offering online poker and the third party payment processors who were transmitting payments to and from customer accounts.  While the US isn't the whole world, there are still a lot of legal issues to navigate when offering online gambling, no matter where it's based.  It's an industry which is already under significant scrutiny, so you need to be aware of the potential for serious legal consequences if you're not very careful about how you establish and maintain any such enterprise.

yup this sums up all of my feelings on the issue.  Most likely any attempt to run a site as such could/would land you in jail in some country.

July $14
Aug $15
Sep $14
Oct $13
Dec $15

I would love to see it jump up, but i'm just not seeing it with the current market.

yup totally agree for the most part, but maybe 20-25 by 2012.  My main question becomes how much devaluation do you see coming in USD/EURO?  How about them apples?
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: POLL: What are you mostly doing with BitCoin? on: July 18, 2011, 05:54:27 AM
I believe "mining" qualifies as "nothing."  Since those who are not trading are simply doing nothing with their coins as they continue to mine.  So yes.
