1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA on the way out on: August 31, 2021, 08:49:07 PM
Sometimes I also use DCA for buying but not at high price periods. If you already did it for 4 years then I think you can sell it anytime, just in case you are in desperate for money. But if not then I suggest you to sell at bullish market only. Just wait until October or November, maybe you can sell it at good price. Bitcoin price movement is very volatile and you can see it clearly from the chart. If I were you I will sell  every 10% of it at bullish market, not just based on time but also based on chart, if the graphics is fall then wait until it go up again. I hope you can get maximum profit.

Depends on his requirements. If I draw a parallel with the equity markets, you have both Systematic Investment Plans as well as Systematic Disinvestment Plans. You could withdraw (sell your bitcoins) your invested funds in small amounts, at regular intervals. This has the effect of averaging out the price while selling as well.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the economic growth of Bitcoin will show a positive impact in upcoming days on: April 23, 2019, 08:23:03 PM
Serena williams investing in coinbase was a great move for her, when other mega rich celebrities see how much she has earned from it they will follow her lead

Her VC firm was founded in 2014 (5 years ago), although the news of her investments has come out only now. It makes a world of difference when you invest in a firm. I don't think any other celebrities are going to blindly invest in crypotcurrency firms just because Serena invested in them some time back.
3  Local / India / Re: How Indian Govt. cheated the whole nation (NewsFlash) on: April 23, 2019, 08:15:16 PM

Thank you for bringing this up! However I fear that the post will be deleted soon because whenever I write anything against BJP, some people used to report the post as offensive and mod used to delete that!

Demonetization is indeed the biggest scam in India history! India has seen many scams before as well, but not at this scale! A lot of poeple lost their jobs because small companies from unorganized sector closed down. I am one of the victims of demonetization and had to struggle financially for 4 months before I get a new job!

And let me tell you, this Pulwama attack is also a scam! Who do you think is the biggest beneficiary after this? There are lot of other open questions, but no one including me dares to ask!

I concur. I experienced worst days in my life at the time of demonetization. It has affected various sectors badly including banking, agriculture, medical, etc and I wonder why so many people still support demonetization. Moreover, this government mixed religion with politics.

I really wished if Bitcoin were a legal tender at that time. We need something like this as a payment method if the government is biased to corporates.

I don't think a lot of people supported demonitization as such - they supported action against black money and the government initially misled people into believing that demonetization would really work against black money.  As far as mixing religion with politics is concerned, I don't think any political party can claim to be holier than thou in this case - they all incorporate caste, religion or region into their policies.

As far as your wish that Bitcoin was legal tender at that time is concerned, I don't think Bitcoin is legal tender anywhere in this world. Legal tender is of limited relevance in any case - it only means that you can use it to officially retire debts.
4  Local / India / Re: Has anyone else recieved notice from Bank? on: September 30, 2018, 08:18:46 PM
Hello, I have recieved a caution advice notice just a few days back from my bank(HDFC) mentioning all my bitoin transactions dated back to 2013. Has anyone else noticed similar notice?  It also said ""revert within 30 days from the date of this letter or the bank will be constrained to restrict transactions in your account without any further reference to you"". Does that mean I have to write them back?

Yes. If you want to continue using your account, you will have to respond to them.
They probably will highlight their terms and conditions and allow you to continue using your bank account. You haven't done anything illegal.
5  Local / India / Re: The final court battle for India’s cryptocurrency exchanges begins on: September 16, 2018, 06:16:37 AM
I am really tired of these blood sucking financial system, banks and intermediarys who give no shit about anything but.somehow fill their own pockets..special mention goes to RBI for being a puppet.

BTC is the only solution to.handle.corruption and wipe out.every exploitation and bring true.financial.freedom.

You are living in a dream world. Bitcoin will solve nothing. Eradicating corruption requires systemic change.
If Bitcoin succeeds, corrupt politicians would line their pockets with bitcoins.
6  Local / India / Re: No merit transaction in INDIA local section..... ? on: August 26, 2018, 09:21:23 PM
Try this out.
https://albertoit.github.io/Visualization/MeritTreemap/index.html

You can drill down to find out the number of merits given in the Indian board.
7  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: August 04, 2018, 07:04:40 PM
I am ranked 252.
Not bad at all, for somebody who doesn't trade on this forum.  Smiley
8  Local / India / Re: Cryptocurrency Regulatory Committee May Have Guidelines In Place By September on: July 29, 2018, 03:31:56 PM
I would take all these timelines being bandied about with a pinch of salt, even if there is some basis for these reports.
The government is not going to rush into something as complicated as cryptocurrencies so quickly,
9  Local / India / Re: Coinsecure not accepting documents after June 30 on: July 22, 2018, 05:22:31 AM
Can Coinsecure just not accept documents we send after June 30 saying they said so? They did not even communicate by phone or mail - just email. Are we supposed to keep a check on them or is it their responsibility to try to contact us and receive a response from us after losing our money? They are negligent and lose our money and now they are being so strict. This should be illegal. Can they not make any exceptions even if it's just 3 days late? Indian mail takes time anyway.

And what kind of backward tech company accepts only paper documents and nothing else?

EMAIL FROM COINSECURE

"Your documents were received on 3rd July.  We are sorry to inform you that we couldn't process your claim documents as it was clearly stated in the Agreement, Website and earlier communications that We will not entertain any claims received after June 30, 2018 and we shall have no liability towards any users who try to submit claims after the said date.
Warm Regards,
Anshul Vasisht
Team Coinsecure"

I would like to see how this stance of theirs holds up in a court of law. The fact that they say "we shall have no liability" does not absolve them at all. If it were so easy, most companies would be liability free.
10  Local / India / Re: What to do with Crypto after 5 July ? on: July 07, 2018, 06:32:16 PM
Investors would only be able to do peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions with a fellow trader. One would only be able to transact in the form of exchange with any another cryptocurrency. Some exchanges WazirX and Koinex Loop are working on peer-to-peer model.

Thats good for now atleast they are doing something to continue trading cryptos

If in future, I convert my cryptocurrency to rupee by P2P transaction, how will I prove that it is legal money ( not black money or any money laundering ).
Maybe, crypto will grow x100 in 2 years. So I can have over a crore rupee in crypto. That may attract attention of authorities if I one day get a crore rupee in my account.

Did you get your coins more than a few years back? If you did and you haven't moved your coins, then you can argue (if required) that most of the money you earn by selling these coins is capital gains tax.

This user copy-pastes his old posts and then deletes the previous post.

There are many different assumptions, but this calculation based on Google trends shows information for a certain period of time. If you take the number of requests and the number of registered purses with the date of creation bitcoin, then this schedule would show permanent growth. Now may lull in front of a strong growth, that no one knows, but many this predict and base their forecasts on various the news of the world's largest investors.

The user above is probably right.

Somebody messed up and edited a ban trigger which temprarily unbanned everyone. Theymos sorted it though.

Your ban was permanent and your temporary unban was a mistake.

Has the messed up ban trigger been sorted out completely?

This user still has a signature, although he is banned.

14  Local / India / Re: Reserve Bank of India Admits Issuing Crypto Ban Without Research on: June 24, 2018, 08:02:43 PM
RBI, the central bank of India, has not made a proper effort to thoroughly research the nature and usage of cryptocurrencies before issuing its crypto ban. This is according to a reply sent by the bank to a Right to Information query filed by a lawyer. Copies of the communication have been distributed on social media and published by local crypto outlets.

Read Artcile

This really doesn't matter. When the Central Bank takes a stand, it is highly unlikely that anything can be done about it.
I don't see the courts jumping up and reversing a decision taken by RBI (who are perceived as experts).
15  Other / Meta / Re: Expiration of sMerits on: June 19, 2018, 05:35:57 AM
Merit system has been in the circulation for almost 5 months and as of now the issue of earning merits for new members and even those who have been here for a long period is still a hot topic.
I think if sMerits will have an expiration date, people will be obliged or will become more active in giving merits to others instead of losing it, this will actually helps many members like me.

Theymos has said that he may consider decaying sMerit in the future.
In an ideal scenario, the flow from the merit sources should be sufficient in the forum. In any case, sMerits were going to get used up at some point or the other.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Simple answer to getting rid of all the trash threads here on: June 14, 2018, 08:58:02 PM
100 merit+ to start a thread on the main alt or btc board

junior boards opened for btc and alt sections for all the

which ico is best threads

the boards simply move to fast with many many duplicate threads and most are just pump my ico threads anyway by armies of sockpuppet accounts with zero merit

mods need demerit powers really for obvious spammers who have purchased high level accounts but never post anything of worth and just use them to spam for different icos

Having restrictions for starting threads (basis ranks) has been suggested for a long time. The general consensus is that might be too restrictive. The problems is not just with low value threads, it is with the multiple accounts spamming in them. It might take some, but the merit system will definitely have an impact.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Sex for merit? on: June 12, 2018, 05:33:59 AM
How do I report someone that I know has traded merit in exchange for sexual favors?  I have proof of the conduct that has taken place.

You have disappeared after creating such an explosive thread?  Grin
The forum really wants to see the proof.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Please Lift ban on: June 10, 2018, 07:35:24 AM
Does posting only in bounty threads make the case for a ban on an account?
I can think of a few accounts I might start reporting. Smiley
19  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: No Bitcoin has ever been mined. on: June 04, 2018, 08:50:21 PM

The closest would be discovering an old wallet that you used for faucets in 2010.
But not everybody can do such a thing.

I gave you a couple of merits for that comment. Actually, it should have been -10, because you have got me started on yet another project with a domain name and an old dustbin. Smiley

Ha ha. You are an optimist.
Trying to find bitcoins like this would be like searching for a needle (if it exists) in a haystack. Smiley
20  Other / Meta / Re: Top 30 Merit givers per board - Interactive Tool to spot possible Merit Sources on: June 01, 2018, 04:25:54 PM

Please also add option to go back or drill up.

That option is already there. All you have to do is click on the top (header row above all the rectangles).
This definitely is excellent work by the OP.
