1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CHARTING - Redrawing your lines after a big move..... on: November 14, 2023, 01:57:22 PM
Please feel free to tell me if there is a better place in the forum for this.....

So you have identified a chart pattern, let's say an ascending triangle. Like Etherium has one now for the last 18 months.
Everything is going to plan, resistance is being respected and higher lows are forming as time goes on.

Then one day it breaks to th downside, making your ascending triangle invalid...... until you decide to move your lines...

I was under the impression that there are certain rules to make it a valid pattern, in the ascending triangle chart patter for example it has to have at least made 2 taps (wick) or closes (bar close) along a set period of time for it to be valid, the more the better, and once these 2 taps/closes have been made then your lines are set in place..

Can anyone shed any light on this? I find it too easy to keep moving the lines and know it's not the right way.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best sites for trading / investing technical discussion / analysis? on: November 06, 2023, 01:53:12 PM
Thanks. Is there a particular section of this site where TA and PA is discussed, or is it just on th alt section and btc section?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best sites for trading / investing technical discussion / analysis? on: November 06, 2023, 01:23:48 PM
It seems this does not go on a lot on this site, I am looking to build my charting knowledge / price action etc.
Are there any good forums where this is discussed... Ideally forums or pages that are not full of scammers and spam bots!
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / PRICE ACTION, TRADING + PATTERNS - Is there anywhere on this forum where.. on: May 03, 2023, 06:51:57 PM
Is there anywhere on this forum where people discuss price action and emerging patterns and candle sticks?

I am trying to learn technical analysis and price action, I am not too bad at it but there's always more to learn. Just don't have too many people to bounce ideas off.. I need to put my 'discoveries' forward for discussion and critique whilst learning from others.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I may sound really stupid right now, but it's what I noticed on: May 02, 2023, 06:37:03 PM
I am present in crypto space years ago and I have witnessed two bear market, and I couldn't take advantage of one because of the condition that I was into at the time, but I heard about every good and bad things about crypto.

But I am curious about something and I will like to ask you old Bitcoin OG on here .

Why is it that bad news always comes in a bear market and when we are in a bull market, all bad news about Bitcoin vanished? Are they doing this on purpose? It's always the bear market, after halving everything will disappear and some bans will be lifted, and so on...

Are we been played? Are these people toying with us, knowing that crypto will work but let's scare the hell out of them and take advantage of the fear? I can't come up with anything that makes more sense than this.

Is there a graph which shows BTC price with relation to news articles?
6  Economy / Speculation / FEAR + GREED & BITCOIN - Doesn't add up in 2019 on: May 02, 2023, 04:58:18 PM
FEAR + GREED AUG 2019 BTC has just had a good pump from $3000 to $10,000 apprpox.

I would have assumed F&G would have been more in the 60s/70s because we eventually got a drop to $6000 and back to $3000.

Why was F&G so low (fear) after a pump. It would suggest the sentiment was to buy?

I know it's not a science but just curious as to why the siganls and market sentiment offered by F&G didn't line up
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is SOL showing a BULL PENANT? On the YTD timeframe.. on: April 30, 2023, 05:28:10 PM
Is sol going to pop?
Looks like a classic bull penant since Jan 1st 2023?
I am by no means an expert, shoot me down if you want.
But it's a perfect pole and converging highs and lows.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IMO - BTC showing BULL inverse head / shoulders --- ETH showing BEARISH TRIANGLE on: April 05, 2023, 04:54:25 PM
Would you day BTC.DOM has just hit a double top?
Lat time it did that at 71% (AUG 2019 - DEC 2020).... And then the 2021 Bull run kicked in.

This last one could be JUL 2021 /or MAY2022 to MARCH 2023...?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IMO - BTC showing BULL inverse head / shoulders --- ETH showing BEARISH TRIANGLE on: April 05, 2023, 08:28:43 AM
yeah I am aware of BTC.DOM and did think that.  And that sort of makes senese then, BTC gearing up for a move, ETH taking spin down, and by the time BTC loses steam ETH ready to blow.

Are there usual durations of these events or can they vary dramatically, and makes them vary? External economic conditions?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / IMO - BTC showing BULL inverse head / shoulders --- ETH showing BEARISH TRIANGLE on: April 05, 2023, 07:38:49 AM
Opinions?

My main question is what happens if thse 2 main crypros conflict each other?

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The leader of the collapse of the currency circle on: November 14, 2022, 10:19:41 AM
Are CEX's really needed? Wasn't the whole point of BTC and Crypto to be DECEN?

Which might mean learning some new skills and protecting your gold..
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BYBIT have delisted FTT (basically " YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE") on: November 13, 2022, 08:43:14 PM
Is this moral, ethical?

They ask you to come on their platform and trade, but when the odds are not in their favour they cut you off... ?!

I guess there are no market makers willing to risk their finances?

What gwan here?

What would happen to those traders who have shorted since say $25???
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is Elliot Wave Theory a self fullfiling prophecy? on: November 09, 2022, 09:11:24 AM
It seem that the 1-5-abc pattern can fit over any pair and and time frame.
Reminds me when people use that silly golden ratio curve and fit it to any random picture and call it the hand of divine creator.

Or is it a pretty accurate tool?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Volume decreasing over time, what does this tell us? on: November 01, 2022, 12:32:06 PM
I am just looking at BTC/USD on Trading View and on the weekly zoomed out, those little red and green bars are telling me volume is dropping, they are getting less prominent? What am I missing here?
Tradingview extract the data from exchanges and by default it's set to Bitstamp.
If you are looking at the data extracted from Bitstamp, that decline simply means that the bitcoin trading volume has been decreased on Bitstamp and they have lost the competition to other excahgnes.
According to Coingecko, Bitstamp's share from the total trading volume is below 0.15%.

Why would a respected platform like Tradingview use crappy info like Bitstamp then? I can now see on Coin Gecko that yes volume is increasing, the exact opposite of Trading view?!
Is CG the preferred platform for stats?

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BTC Volume decreasing over time, what does this tell us? on: November 01, 2022, 10:59:15 AM
Is it significant in any way?
My impression would be that there are less people trading it and perhaps more storage going on? Or that a lot more trading is happening on other coins/projects/tokens whatever?
Looking from say 2017/2018 to now, it's pretty much a sharp declining line.

I am learning so feel free to enlighten me.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How accurate is the BTC RAINBOW chart? on: October 23, 2022, 01:20:25 PM
One can safely assume that we are in an accumulation phase for the next 2 years now? Or can we expect some action in the next 2 years? Was the mid 2019 a mini bull run? Currently price is just peeking out the bottom of the "Fire Sale" blue band, is this gearing up for a mini run like in mid 2019? There are certainly features on display that might suggest this? A possible W formation since the June 17.6k low to now (though now confirmation yet), Fear + Greed is relatively on the fear side at 20, consolidation since early September... What do we think?
I think it is human nature to prepare for the worst or try to look for the most complicated answer, when sometimes it's all there in front of us... For those of you who were looking at this chart in late 2019 or early 2020, what were you thinking?

I can't upload pics but here is a link...

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have all the 'Bull Runs' just been billionaires pumpin and dumpin? on: October 12, 2022, 03:19:02 PM
Notably the 2020/2021 run, was this the 'Age of Elon', is BTC really worth $20,000. £100,000 or "$1 million please like, subscribe click that notification button, comment and check the bybit link at the bottom for your chance to 100x leverage a shit coin" ?

Shall we just wait till the next billionaire wants to come along at the 'next cycle' and pump and dump?

Your overly simplified logic on this have completely missed the halvings.
So unless these billionaire pumpers have managed to buy at the same time distance to each different bitcoin halving (which would be an overly surprising coincidence), you're wrong.

I think that you'd better read about bitcoin halving - what it means, how often it happens - then look at the historic prices chart (the entire chart) and see how nicely these cycles did match.

Rule number one, never assume Smiley I learned all this in 2018/2019.. But I do agree with you.
