1  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your purpose in life. on: May 25, 2022, 10:28:17 AM
As our faces differ so also does our purpose differ. What interests you may be different from mine. But most times the things we had passion for during childhood are not always accomplished because of some external factors that we don't have control over. However, it's best we engage in things that we have passion for even if we are not earning as much as expected, we get fulfilled and I believe that no matter how successful one is, its important we help others ascend the ladder of progress.

Let's all try to put in our best to win, but if after doing all we can and we couldn't win, lets make sure we help someone to win. Be a part of people's success story.
2  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Choose Wisely on: May 24, 2022, 05:03:50 PM
Both options involves taking a risk. You do not know what you stand to lose until you have made the decision. Having breakfast with a rich and famous person may be an opportunity to make it real big in life but mind you its a conditional statement because the meeting might just end with the breakfast and a couple of pictures afterwards. Before making a choice, its best you weigh your options and go for the suitable and best option. We can't all go for the same thing as a result of varying priorities.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Doctors lie? on: May 19, 2022, 06:58:13 AM
Doctors are not perfect, they are humans who are vulnerable to making mistakes too. But then let's not forget that this is a profession like any other like being a banker or lawyer, they give instructions on how to live a better life and stay healthy based on what they have been taught, but that doesn't mean that they must live a flawless life.

We all have things we are battling with and for you to have seen a doctor smoking knowing fully well the side effects of doing so, it may be a challenge he or she is battling with. Let's not assume that they are all liars, some are just struggling like we are too and that is why some persons will say do as I say not do as I do.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: DON'T QUIT on: May 18, 2022, 01:13:58 PM
Sometimes you may be engaging in an activity putting all your energy, resources and giving it your best, but you may not be making any progress, how about you take a break( this doesn't imply that you are a loser), it's just an avenue to see why things are not working. The fact that some persons are thriving well at somethings doesn't mean its the best for you. Sometimes, all you need is to discover what is best for you and what you can do very well happily.

Quitting a job or business is not bad if its for a good course, but quitting the zeal to improve and press forward is not a good decision. That thing you are doing will definitely work out if you do not give up. No matter how rough the road may be, be determined to walk on it and you'll be successful.

Sitting down complaining about things will make no difference until you come to the realization of the fact that you really need to do something. Opportunities do not always come to you, sometimes you have to go for it, chase your dreams and try something different or do things others have ventured to differently. You are the only one that can best encourage yourself, others can only try, you need personal motivation and keep going, all these struggles are part of your success story.
6  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Right thing vs the Smart thing on: May 18, 2022, 10:54:35 AM
Doing the right thing is just doing what is known as being right, but being smart has to do with doing things rightly. Being smart doesn't have to been tagged as being dubious, one who does things smartly has an edge over others because they do not just know the right thing, but consider the best alternative that suits the challenge at hand before making decisions. Sometimes you can do the right thing but it may lead to complications but then someone else might have that same knowledge and do it smartly without compromising standards so as to avoid problems. With your personal morals intact, you wouldn't consider a short cut or fraudulent acts as being smart.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be patient, don't get discouraged. on: May 18, 2022, 10:33:15 AM
Thanks for this word of encouragement. There is a saying that the hardest test in life is the patience to wait for the right time. Sometimes if you are doing something you do not have passion for, you easily get discouraged and its easier to quit, but then even with the passion one needs encouraging words to keep going when things don't go as smooth as expected. At some point I was thinking one of my post wasn't relevant but recently I discovered people started noticing it and I've learnt a lot from the replies, seeing this made me happy and eager to press forward.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting up and trying again on: May 15, 2022, 09:47:06 AM
Knowing the reason why you are into a particular thing matters a lot. If you are into crypto or any form of business because others are doing same, you may not get it right. Whatever you have passion for, you will always be ready to endure no matter what happens because there is a target and its to be successful.

Most times we are so concerned about the positive aspects of things and we neglect the fact that a coin has two faces. Its okay to make mistakes, but its not reasonable to make the same mistake twice. Learn from your mistakes, if you are giving the same opportunity like you once had, look at the things you did wrong before and analyze how you can do better this time. Let's always remember that you can only be congratulated when you get to the finish point, so don't stop halfway, keep pressing forward, one day, you'll make it to the top.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's always remember how important our lives are. on: May 15, 2022, 09:31:17 AM
Committing suicide as a way of escape from a particular problem creates bigger problems for the ones you are leavingbehind. It's true that if you are not the victim, you can't say you understand how it feels to lose something valuable especially when you have placed all your hopes on it.

But then life itself is a risk, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And the things you did that resulted in a loss will be a lesson so that next time you wouldn't repeat such. Let's learn to give ourselves a second chance. The thought to end it all might come, but if you think critically, its not worth it.

Toh ASUU don officially renew their strike bundle to original 12 weeks dem say the committee wey government put together never call dem even for once for meeting since February. Another thing wey dey pay them again be say politicians dey spend hundreds of millions for next forms and other things like say Na biscuit dem dey buy, and none of them don put mouth for any wey concern public universities. Dem fashe everything like say so dey exist for Naija again.
Personally for me ba this thing reach man make he cry. Imagine people wey suppose dey represent us dey carry us play ludo.

So my people how una take see this ASUU strike renewal

This strike issue is really disheartening, imagine having to stay extra years as an undergraduate when its not as if you have academic issues. FG and ASUU are only concerned about their selfish interest not considering the students whose time is being delayed. I don't understand why the Minister for education will be more concerned about obtaining a presidency form worth millions and they refuse to solve the issue at hand. Nigeria should even be ashamed because I don't know how many countries they see or hear having strike like we do almost all the time. The best thing is if one can afford a private university of good standard, Federal school is not an option considering this ASUU strike, I don't even know the fate of students presently sitting for JAMB exam when some batches are still waiting. (Please pardon me for typing in English, I no too sabi type with pidgin)
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Skepticism should yield Knowledge on: May 12, 2022, 12:01:57 PM
Skepticism has to do with our attitude towards something. It deals with an intellectual inquiry and caution applied to an information, ideas and things being presented to us. It is an essential part of critical thinking,  it helps us to embrace objective truth which deals with what is universally true and accepted as opposed to being satisfied with what we know and settling for personal or subjective truth.

Skepticism helps us to ask questions, challenge claims, make enquiry about things.  It also encourages us not to accept authority because we know it's source or think the information is true.  The same yardstick should be used to scrutinize ever information so as to be on the safer side and this helps us to gain more knowledge and make progress.  We need not stop at the doubtful phase of skepticism, progress can only be made when we seek more knowledge about things.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Yap payment system; A prototype of Cryptocurrency system. on: May 11, 2022, 07:26:40 AM
On Yap Island, a large millstone-like stones were used as a medium of exchange. The stones were quarried almost 280miles away on the Island of Palau and brought to Yap by small boat. New stone  money units could be brought into the system by every inhabitant. Labour effort, equipments were the creation costs that protected the economy from inflation. The ownership rights of the stones were transferred virtually instead of having to laboriously move them from the seller's front yard to the buyer's front yard because the stones were up to 13feet in diameter. A stone remained in its original location and the unit of value could be detached from it and circulated irrespective of the stone's whereabouts. It is sufficient that all the inhabitants knew who the owner of every stone was.

This system was based on a distributed ledger in which every inhabitant would keep track of the stone's ownership. When a buyer made a purchase, the neighbors are informed of the transaction and then begin to spread the news until all the Island's inhabitants have been informed about the change in ownership. This communication allow every Islander to have a precise idea of which unit of value belonged to which person at any point in time.
In its essential features, the Yap payment system is very similar to cryptocurrency system but a major difference is that false reports could not be immediately identified in Yap system, the group would have to argue and settle conflicts regarding the current state of the implicit ledger. Yap payment system was also based on trust by a manageable size of people with close relationship but cryptocurrency system was designed to function in a network where the participant can trust any other participant and the membership strength is not restricted.

Cryptocurrency transaction works in a similar way to Yap payment system because the buyer broadcasts to the network that a certain cryptocurrency address is the new owner of a specific cryptocurrency unit, this information is distributed on the network until all the nodes are informed about the ownership transfer. In small communities  like Yap Island, everyone knows everyone else, the participants care about their reputation but in contrast to the cryptocurrency system, the number of participant is substantially larger and network participants  remain anonymous, consequently, reputation effects cannot be expected to have a significant positive impact and coordination become complex with the attention of experts. Instead there is a consensus mechanism that ensures that all the participants agree about the ownership rights to the virtual currency units. This consensus mechanism is the core innovation of the cryptocurrency system and since the Yap payment system was more of a model where stones were used as quasi-virtual currency, Cryptocurrency system has improved greatly on the defects seen from the Yap payment system.

14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Role Of Parents In The Chaos Happenings In The Society. on: May 10, 2022, 06:52:09 PM
Parents are the first teachers kids learn from, whatever you see people doing are a product of what they have learnt from home and environmental exposure. We cannot generalize that parents are responsible for the chaos happening in the society because we have children who were well brought up but peer influence and pressure changed their mentality and it reflects in the things they do.

Of course there are some parents who do no train their wards while they were at the early stage of life and now that they are misbehaving, they try to call them to order, but it's quite late and its beyond their control. We all have the liberty to choose to do the right thing, even if parental upbringing was poor, we can remould ourselves into doing something better thereby improving the situation of the society.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is marriage a kind of punishment? on: May 10, 2022, 06:01:35 PM
If marriage is a kind of punishment, then the question should be, a punishment for which crime? Love!!!! Marriage should be a mutual agreement between two partners who love each other and are ready to spend the rest of their lives together. One of the reasons for frequent divorce cases is the fact that people do not know why they are getting married.

Some persons are concerned about the wedding ceremony which will only last for few days and thereafter they begin to notice each other's flaws and complaints starts. The moment you do not marry your friend and you plan to start studying your partner after wedding, then you have gotten it twisted. Many divorce cases wouldn't occur and no gender will be maltreated if both parties love each other genuinely regardless of their imperfections.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teachers deserve more on: May 10, 2022, 05:49:21 PM
Anyone who impacts knowledge directly or indirectly is a teacher. Whatever we become in life is the work of someone who devoted his or her time in training us. Most times people argue that this profession is not worth that way it is being rated as the most important job, but all the same the way we treat our teachers depicts how much we appreciate their efforts. I see teaching as a talent, its not everyone who has this skill and the people we see as bad teachers are probably in this field because they just have to earn a living not because they have the passion for it. If you are privileged to meet with the ones that have helped you in ascending the ladder of success, don't hesitate to treat them very well. We learn what to do from our good teachers and what not to do from the ones we see as bad teachers.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is lying now part of human nature? on: May 10, 2022, 01:49:57 PM
People at default tell lies because they see it as the normal thing everyone does. But the fact that majority tell lies doesn't make it right. Sometimes situations warrant people to compromise standards by lying, they see it as an act used to save themselves of trouble and its becoming the human nature, but it's not supposed to be. Personal standards and determination not to tell lies helps a lot in staying away from lying.
18  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The blame game on: May 09, 2022, 02:32:28 PM
If we consider the kind of society we find ourselves, nothing seems right, everything is in shambles and what we grew up to see is complaint by the masses which have not changed anything. Putting blame on others is a strategy that is as old as man, and ever since it hasn't yielded positive changes, it's creating more harm than good.

In place of this blame game, let everyone work on his or herself, you may not be able to change the world, but you can have a better self, if only everyone can have this mindset, the world would be a better place to be, of course some persons will always be responsible for the bad things we see around but instead of focusing on the half empty cup, let's focus more on the half filled part of the cup.
19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in our society on: May 09, 2022, 02:17:33 PM
Religion deals with certain beliefs, doctrines and standards that one is seriously devoted to. What we see people doing most times negates what they say, in actual sense we perceive them to be religious but they are not because God at some point said the heart of a man is desperately wicked, who can know it. People are composed of their genetic makeup in combination of their environmental exposure. In the real sense religion should make things better but in this present dispensation where we have diverse and conflicting religions, the reverse is the case. Personal morals and upbringing, self discovery dictates who we are and what we do.
