The MSI Pro Z690 only has four PCIe slots for 4 graphic cards, if you want to use the extender its fine but I can't tell if it will support up to 10 graphic cards, by the way if you are willing to spend dollars on this Z690 why can't you just buy a mining motherboard like B250 or other? Or you already have this Z690?.

Yes, I have this motherboard already which I use for gaming.  I tried buying a second motherboard geared towards mining but it was DOA and the quality and seller accountability now seems risky to continue to pursue in this current market environment.

I also found that many bitcoin specific motherboards are 3x+ the price of the z6960.

I should clarify.  I am able to get 10 GPUs running, but trying to get to 16 with 4x1 splitters.

Is there a motherboard chipset you could suggest for 12gen CPUs?

New to mining.

Is this motherboard capped at 10 gpus?

These are the Specs for Expansion Slots:

3x PCIe x16 slots
     PCI_E1 (from CPU)
Supports up to PCIe 5.0 x16
     PCI_E3 & PCI_E4 (from Z690 chipset)
          Supports up to PCIe 3.0 x4 & 3.0 x1
1x PCIe 3.0 x1 slot (from Z690 chipset)
