1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Open Source Bitcoin ASIC miner project that uses 2x BM1387 (Antminer S9) on: November 29, 2022, 04:26:02 PM
Just spotted this topic fantastic project looking forward to seeing the final product on this.

Also fantastic to see open source project like this!

Keep up the good work!

Hello, I am fascinated by the project. It's amazing how much progress has been made in such a short time. I would like to help by doing some beta testing. since I do not have the necessary knowledge for the design.

I have some chips from old equipment
BM1397 BM1387

so I could test both the new bitaxe max version and the first bitaxe v2

You have a list of components to purchase. any recommendations to request pcb?

Once the design settles down a bit, we'll do an at cost group buy of assembled PCBs so people can start hacking on them. Stay tuned!

Finding a reliable (and affordable) supplier of BM1397AG for this is on the to-do list!

4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S17 Pro vs. S17+ on: November 29, 2022, 12:51:40 PM
thanks a bunch to all --- that was very helpful
will stay away from s17

the S17+ model is a powerful but delicate model. you need to have 17 series experience to keep them operational, you can always purchase upgraded sheet metal models. Even if I recommend a pro before a +.

On the contrary, the s17 pro is a great team. if it has been decently taken care of,

a greeting

I found an interesting project about creating your own ASIC using two BM1387 chips. The cool thing about it is that it's all open source: KiCad design files, BoM, software, etc. Basically an Open Hardware project.

Github with sources here: https://github.com/skot/bitaxe

Here's a reddit discussion about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/uymwj3/experimental_bm1387_bitcoin_mining_machine

It's not finished yet, but it's something interesting to have a look if you're planning to make your own ASIC miner, or you want to help create an Open Source one.

Also, the person who created this is now looking to make it work with cgminer:

I’ll see if I can get the cgminer modified for the newpac to talk to the bitaxe

This would be great to tinker with, specially with cgminer.

Cool! what a great project. I'm going to study to make some breadboard.

As a controller before an esp32 is not a Raspberry Pi Zero better?

you thought of increasing the sequence of chips per plate, copying the original chaining

a greeting
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 3D Printed S17 Series Fan Shroud and Base Plate on: October 12, 2022, 08:32:53 PM

Dear miners, It's taken a while to find some time to organize this with work and life duties but my goal was to share this. Hope you'll be able to find some use.

What is this? Functional 3D printable exhaust capturing both hash board and power supply end for S17 series. (possibly others, unconfirmed)
What the hell? This mining community has really allowed me to develop my passion for mining over the years and in concert with that, I can in some form return this knowledge by leveraging my design and engineering skills for those running S17 series miners on air.
What miner was this design based off of? S17Pro 53TH
Project Timing: 1 month+
CAD program: NX
3D printed process/material: Duraform PA SLS glass filled Nylon with a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 134C, also chosen for it's strength (baseplate and clips).
What other additive manufacturing processes and materials can I use? FDM: Carbon-reinforced Nylon, ASA (HDT) is 102C. SLS: 100% Nylon PA. SLA not recommended.
Outlet size? 8" for unrestricted thermal flow and common duct sizing.
Where can I see images of the process/prototypes? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13pxwNq3i_UbBT4-HtUTQX8JJ3rYCMvaU?usp=sharing
Applications of scale:  It's scalable from apartment mining to smaller mining operations where rack space isn't at a premium.
Will it fit S19's and T17 series? It was designed for an S17Pro so to confirm I'd recommend pulling dimensions from your machine chassis and fans to reference. Screw slots on the base plate allow for adjustment room only in the Z direction
File format: .stl (x2), BASE_PLATE.stl and SHROUD.stl
Where can I download the .stl's? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1w3BvUKmdP96TeiACywiTfjAslpd6fWGN?usp=sharing
Installation tips? The miners fan through screws don't need a lot of torque, just a soft tightening. SLS PA is one of the most robust materials to work with so cracking and shearing of the base plate from over-torquing wasn't an issue. Be careful to slide the shroud in and out parallel on-axis with the base plate clips for reasons of shearing those off. If something does break on the base plate for some reason use 2 part Plexus MA310. Or just reprint it Wink

If you have any questions about 3D printing processes or materials please feel free to leave a question. Any other questions or issues I will do my best to answer.

Whether big or small, if you at all find these parts useful or helpful, I will not say no to tips via the address in my profile. Hopefully, this can be put to good use and it would be cool to see this working for other miners, as it does for mine.

Best,
NoKeyboard-BTW

Hello, first of all thanks for sharing the project.

I would like to know if you could share the s17 front hitch model with me. the one you have in the sample image folder PROTO1_SLSb

Thank you very much in advance
a Greetings
