1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at $120k – Take Profits or Still HODL? on: Today at 10:05:24 AM
“Is $120k the new $20k?”
“Selling at $120k vs HODLing for $1M”

selling at $120k is dependent on what your investment plan is and waiting for bitcoin to get to $1M is something that is individual dependent but for me, i still think we are still far behind to start making plans for $1M. whenever bitcoin climbs a new ATH, discussion like this always comes up but one thing to always take out of the frequency of this is that we will continue to have new ATH and the urge to sell will always come but the issue is going to be that we have to be resolved enough to know that selling of ones bitcoin should not depends on when there is a new ATH. as an investor, set your investment plan and ensure you follow it up to the latter without being dragged here and there whenever bitcoin moves a certain direction.
2  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto is just like gambling. on: Today at 09:55:13 AM
Crypto (Bitcoin) has lower risk of losing when compared to gambling, take for instance football gambling, the results are immediate, once the game is over you either win or loss, that is to say there is no long term growth.
The first issue with such comparison is the usage of crypto to mean everything in the crypto space including bitcoin as well as mixing up investment with trading. assuming the comparison is with regards crypto trading almost being like gambling, then it becomes understandable but for someone that is invested in bitcoin for instance, the degree of risk is practically unmatched because if you don't rush to sell, it is even possible to conclude that there is no loss with  bitcoin investment at all.

you do not engage in crypto for the sake of fun or all, your purpose of investing in crypto is because you want to get profit from your investment. your level of certainty with the proposed returns you can get from crypto far surpasses what you can get from gambling. shitcoin and meme coin can to an extent be termed gambling with what you put into them but bitcoin and some altcoins do not fall under this category especially when you are not a trader.

3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Regretting era for those who aimed but failed to buy the Dip. on: October 02, 2025, 05:54:26 PM
And those who joined the thread and failed to buy the Dip and was awaiting for the price to go dipper before they can buy, I understand how bad you guys may feel now that the market is at it recovery bullish phase but all I can say is "well done for joining the conversations" while you get yourself to be blamed if you must feel regrets of missing out the good times.
And for your information, it is still not late to buy now while the future holds the best.
That thread has  been running for a long time even before bitcoin got to $100k. some participant don't take it serious until they see the market getting bullish and they start to regret failing to buy using the DCA method at the time they hard the opportunity of doing so. normally, opportunity present itself to us every now and then but the issue has always been that we tend to assume that we always have time and sometimes procrastinate till it eventually becomes way too late.

Even now, it is not too late to buy, we are still far from where we will get to in the future so, failing to buy now will still yield more regret in the future because bitcoin will still become far more bullish than what we have now.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: September 30, 2025, 12:35:45 PM
Looking at the current form of Chelsea in their last four past matches that they lost three of matches in a straight and drawn one, so with the current Chelsea status of losing, is there any means of Chelsea winning today champions League to Benfica, because even at the beginning of the season i noticed that there is going to be allot of changes and surprises on some clubs that people think they can win a particular game, i believe that Chelsea will surely try to make a difference in game with Benfica, if by any chance that Chelsea didn't play very well to dominate in today match, even Chelsea fans will not be happy with their club and they will be seeing the Chelsea to have joined Manchester United loosing team.
So you're saying Chelsea defeat in the EPL was deliberate to focus on the Champions League? I'm not sure. What if Chelsea lose against Benfica? What would be the excuse?
deliberate losing ke? when they even have injury problem that they are battling with? now that palmer is no long in the squad due to injury, they will now have another excuse if they fail to get a good result from this game. Chelsea have been losing consistently and if they continue in this manner, there champions league journey might end up becoming a thing of ridicule with more bad result that is on the way.

the champions league is not a ground for unserious team that are not good at taking chances and for that, Chelsea will certainly struggle with how inconsistent they have been.

5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alcohol + Gambling = Recipe for Disaster? on: September 30, 2025, 12:23:59 PM
We all know gambling already carries risk, but what happens when you mix it with alcohol?
Personally, I’ve had a few times where I ended up gambling while drunk , whether at a casino or even online, and the experience was way different.
the reality is that at least 60% of gamblers drinks and some addicted ones are also addicted to gambling. regardless of how many times we still talk about this, addiction is addiction and whatever form it takes, be it gambling or alcohol, they are still very bad. being a gambling addict will affect you financially, emotionally and wreck you. combining that lifestyle with alcohol is going to worsen things up for you and get you into a mess you will struggle a lifetime to come out of. every thing we do requires an high level of moderation or else, ruin becomes inevitable.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Know your right on: September 30, 2025, 12:10:53 PM

It is gone and not coming back, there is a lesson here if you are buying and holding coins, no one have the right to know a single alphabet of your recovery seed, not even the companies that made the wallets.
This is not supposed to be a conversation in the first place because it is even foolishness to allow a third party get access to your seed phrase. it is not even a matter of right or wrong because when you talk about right, it will make it look like a third party have any access to your seed phrase.

My coin is my coin and mine alone. my seed phrase is mine and mine alone. unlike the centralized banking system where some of your private information is held by banks, with bitcoin, you are your own everything and no one has the right to ask you for information related to it regardless the reason they bring forward.

7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whale sell-offs: still panic-worthy, or just normal these days? on: September 30, 2025, 11:57:20 AM
So here’s what I’m wondering:

- Are we entering a new era where whale dumps no longer shred confidence because institutions are ready to buy the dip?
- If that’s true, maybe those “dumps” in the past few days aren’t cause for alarm, just part of market rebalancing.
- But then again, what if institutions are just delaying the drop, not preventing it?
It will depend largely on the whale in question that is selling off. investors and whales in general can sell their bitcoin at whatever time they feel like doing so and depending on the worth of coin they are selling, the market might react too much to it. the personality of the whale is now a bigger consideration when we talk about whales selling off their holding and it is now the big deal as long as whale making sales is concerned.

Every serious sell that result in a DIP is now seen as an opportunity to even buy a larger fraction of bitcoin considering that a DIP makes it possible to buy bitcoin at a cheaper rate. investors now know better that no single person controls bitcoin and so, an exit of one whale even opens up opportunity for other investors to come into the system.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: September 30, 2025, 11:39:46 AM

Many people are new to cryptocurrency and don't know much about investing or trading.

Trading is a shortcut to quick profits and high risks and losses. Trading requires a lot of time and puts your own money at risk.

And investing is a means of earning high profits in the long term. Why invest, there is no risk in investing and you don't have to spend much time and money. Only long-term investment has the opportunity for high returns of 4-10 years.

Bitcoin is known as the best currency of the present time and investing is one of the best means of earning profits from Bitcoin. Because if you can overcome the cycle, you may be able to earn high profits. A new investor should always be willing to invest in Bitcoin for the long term and invest in Bitcoin to make yourself and your money risk-free.

Trading is similar to gambling,no matter how hard you try to analyze the market, losses cannot be avoided and yet, traders still think this strategy is the best approach to make profits in Bitcoin
it is just because of the fact that traders always assume that quick profit is easily attainable through their short term trades that they try to get some sort of justification that suggest that trading is the way to go. trading goes well with the phrase, easy come, easy go and that is what traders always encounter which is not actually wise if you are someone that is hoping to get a good returns in the long run. an investor might not have all the profit there is to be gotten at a short period of time but there is always a guarantee that his investment is secured and that the asset he is holding will not go down in less than no time.

continuous buying of bitcoin regardless of the market condition and not wishing for any slight bull to sell off ones holding takes away any form of pressure from the investor such that his long term profit becomes guaranteed.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 29, 2025, 01:39:18 PM
You can still buy dips without necessarily waiting, I believe DCA and dip buying can co-exist without stopping your regular buys.  You can always share your DCA amount into 5 parts and maintain your consistency with 4 parts and continue saving the 1 party consistently until your desired dip surfaces and you lump sum on the dip with already accumulated funds for it and if the desired dip doesn't come by, you buy up with the saved funds or use it to increase your aggressiveness for a while.
This your illustration is entirely not a bad idea, but I think that if you have a reserve funds in place while buying regularly with your dca accumulating strategy, you can easily buy a huge chunk of Bitcoin during the dip with your reserve funds if you have it in place.
The only problem and where i tend to have problem with most Bitcoin investors is that they wait for it and stop their accumulation entirely, which i think will limit them in accumulating or reaching their Bitcoin over accumulation status early.
The very idea of an Average as used when describing dollar cost average is that you are going to be at the DIP, at some peak and some relatively middle price range in the process of your accumulation. all combined together makes up your total dollar cost average because if for instance you are buying every week and you intend doing so for a period of five years, during that period, you are going to experience everything that comes with bitcoin and within that period, you are going to buy the DIP which is a better way of buying during the DIP rather than waiting for so long just because you want to buy the DIP.

A four year investment plan for instance, is a long period of time that allows you to buy your bitcoin using a combination of all the investment strategy. waiting for a comfortable DIP before buying is a waste of time and from how the price of bitcoin has remained relatively stagnant for a long period of time, it tells of how long you might likely continue waiting for a DIP that might instead of coming result to an increase in the value of bitcoin which will only mean that you have to wait for a longer period of time.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Individual freedom or social problem? on: September 29, 2025, 01:23:20 PM
Is the industry being transparent enough about the risks?

What about young people? Should there be some kind of limit or restriction on this type of content?[/b]

I would like to know your opinion  Huh
Anything that is addictive requires some level of checks and balance by external agencies or else abuse continues to increase in the long run. on the part of the casino owners, an increase in the numbers of addict will result to an increase in the revenue they will generate and so, it is not going to be of serious concern even though gamblers are becoming addicted. the underaged can also bypass the minimum age bracket for eligibility to gambling and so, a check will still be a good way of ensuring that such are tightened  and that responsible gambling is encouraged.

Individual freedom comes with a level of limitation so, as much as you want to give gamblers the freedom to do what they feel like doing, you want to also ensure that they are regulated such that their excesses is curtailed.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why does most of the none-reputable casino cook up stories on: September 29, 2025, 01:06:44 PM
What is your input towards this matter?
Note: I am not criticizing any casino rather just fairness to their users especially forum users than cooking up drama's to their us in order to deny people their fairful winning.
It is better to stick with a reputable casino that does not have too much bonuses than going after one that does not have good reputation only because they have a flashy bonus that is attractive but at the same time is in the form of a trap. most of the casinos that have difficult KYC are not doing it just because they are after the safety of gamblers, rather, they are doing it as a form of trap to get at gambling that might be found wanting in any of that regard. it is mostly when you are winning most times that they cook up stories when you are about to withdraw what you have won.
12  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Touts and Tax Force for R/S on: September 29, 2025, 12:55:21 PM
like these people go come out every morning to come hustle but all these bad boys go come dey tax them when them never even sell anything and e go be like force, if them no give them go scatter their goods and e bad say even the so called Wike tax force wey no dey add anything to the growth of this State dey follow for some of these rubbish, e dey follow make life hard for the market women/men and drivers.
what is the difference between what those tout are doing and what our security men are doing on the way? it is same thing. both of them stands on the road to extort money from drivers and business owners without using the money to solve any problem that is associated with the people they are taxing. this is not just a port Harcourt thing, in all the part of the nation we have them around and some lazy youth have turned that into their daily job instead of going out to make themselves useful in the society.

The government, the security operatives and these boys are same and that is why they are allowed to operate without fear and caution because they know that no one will penalize them for their excesses. our officers are literally tout on uniform so there's no way we can differentiate one is doing from what the others are doing.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Times like this crypto is only true safe heaven. on: September 29, 2025, 12:44:46 PM
Upcoming times like this crypto is only true safe heaven.
Forget about gold when rockets will attack your house you aint gona have time to take your gold stacks when you not federal reserve or some big instution or bank or goverment then large gold is not your thing !
don't talk about wars as though they are simple thing just because you want to paint bitcoin as the best asset, if war breaks out and really affects you to a degree that your physical asset can be endangered, believe me that you will get frustrated to a point where the amount of bitcoin you are holding will not matter much to you compared to staying alive.

Crypto especially bitcoin is a safe haven and a good asset for investment but it worth is not defined only when you downgrade other asset to the point of wishing those holding it bad. when there is ever an international crisis, it hits almost all the asset be it those that are digital asset as well as those that are physical assets. war is a bad thing no one should wish for because when it comes, nothing else maters apart from thriving to stay alive.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is HODLING also a sign that I am too scared to sell? on: September 27, 2025, 08:25:31 PM
I believe the concept of HODLing Bitcoin is nearly as old as Bitcoin itself with the fundamental reason and hope that it will increase more in value over the years. Although several persons are entitled to there own reasons for HODLing, could it be that some persons HODL because they are waiting for the perfect time or they are too scared to sell or lose a percentage of their Bitcoin?
Investor Holding their bitcoin is for several reasons and part of it is that they are not ready to sell In loss and probably are hoping that by holding for the long run, the value of bitcoin will continue to increase which will in the process help to place them in a greater profit.

Being scared to sell is not entirely a bad thing as long as you're doing so to protect yourself. If you sell too early, you're going to end up being at loss. The future might seems uncertain but yet, it's still safer holding your coin for the future than selling it too soon because of fear.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Does deleting confidential files before handing over a device maintain privacy? on: September 27, 2025, 08:14:17 PM
If you must sell your device as a second hand product to a third party, even if you're not completely certain of the security of your device after you've given it out, it's still safer to clear all your data first before giving it out. Not everyone that gets that device has the technicality to bring back already deleted items.

I've sold my items and the thing I do is to restore the phone to factory setting before pushing it out and when I'm selling it I always sell it to someone I know very well and that way, it also reduce the possibility of any form negative things happening to your security as a result of selling your device to a third party.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction without loss of money. on: September 26, 2025, 11:59:35 AM
Generally, it's important to distinguish between gambling addiction with loss of money and gambling addiction without loss of money. People often don't make this distinction, or they make it implicitly, lumping them together.
who considers gambling without losing of money as an addictive lifestyle in the first place? regardless how frequent the individual indulge in the act of gambling, as long as he is not losing money, it will not be a thing of concern other than the fact that he will be seen as someone that is just wasting his time. addiction in the context of gambling is usually money related and not time related. i know that there are some people that can be better called gamers who spend all their times playing games and eventually getting addicted to it and it affect other areas of their life and leads to reduction in their productivity. that is a different thing on it own but gambling alone that does not involve the loss of money is not a thing that is of a serious concern to even the person that is involved in the act.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Social Media influencers on: September 26, 2025, 11:53:26 AM

Can you think of any other popular gambling infuencers today? Drop them in the comments section im curious to see who else ive missed promoting this stuff
gambling influencers you say? i can literally think of a dozen of them off hand especially in the entertainment industry that always promote for one gambling platform or the other. the one that is a bit hard to find is those that are the actual owners of the casino. what i find out is that majority of them that owns casino try to keep themselves from directly related to the business for the sake of their reputation should things go wrong.

at least 80% of footballers directly or indirectly joins in the promotion of gambling casinos which is part of the means through which they earn some decent amount of cash from.
18  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Be careful of the coins promoted on news on: September 26, 2025, 11:42:59 AM
Two years ago there was a coin that was promoted on one of the news in Nigeria which I thought will be good but the coin was a bad coin. When it was lauched on an exchange, the price fall more than 10 times. When I went to the exchange last year, the coin value has fallen 1000 times.

Today I did not see the coin anymore on the exchange which was Bitmart which means the coin has been unlisted.
Do you just believe in the potential of a coin just because it is being promoted on the news? what happens if it is just a paid promotion which is usually the case and the person promoting it is neither investing in the coin nor knows much about it, are you not going to encounter loss trying such a risky thing? in a time where people invest so much in advertisement and push out narrative that are not completely true, you don't just believe things just because you see it on the news.

As an investor, if for any reason you want to invest in an altcoin, you have to do your own research first and be sure that you have cleared any form of doubt in your mind before investing in them. as long as it is not bitcoin, then only invest after you have done proper research.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Is a University Degree Still Worth Anything? on: September 26, 2025, 11:14:23 AM
I think they're worth it in certain industries such as medical, law, scientific, engineering etc where you simply cannot enter those jobs without a degree. But outside of that they are becoming increasingly difficult to justify. Gone are the days where simply having a degree puts you at the top of the CV pile.
Even if it is becoming difficult to tell a persons degree of knowledge just by the degree he presents, Degrees are testament that validate a persons knowledge in a certain field of study be it engineering, medicine, economy and every other minor area you might think of. the university setting is just passing through a stage where it looks like it lacks vision as to how to effectively train young graduate to become easily included into the working space. if there is the slightest improvement in the educational system, then a certified engineer, economist, medical doctor or any professional will always be a better suit for jobs that one that has not gone through that setting.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What else have Bitcoin done for you apart from making money on: September 26, 2025, 11:03:22 AM
What is that one thing that Bitcoin have done for you apart from making money?
Bitcoin has helped me to have a better understanding of what finance is all about and this is in addition to the fact that it has made me to be  more financially buoyant. i do not have to worry about ways i can use in making transaction that are off borders and definitely with bitcoin, investment for me is now an easy thing and i can comfortably invest a huge amount of money into bitcoin without anyone having an idea that i hold such chunk of an asset. it also opens up the deficiency that is associated with the banking system and helps one to know the advantage of being in total control of your asset.
