1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: July 08, 2014, 04:25:54 AM
I've been following all the SWARM threads and am considering investing, but I can't find any info about what percentage of the one percent of coins launched on SWARM the holders of SWARMPRE will actually get.

The best I've found is "Our coin, SWARM, entitles all coin owners to a part of one percent of all future coins launched on our platform."

But a "part" of one percent, as we all know, could be extremely small. So have there been any actual numbers released?

And after doing some research SILK is trademarked by a japanese company involving software on mobile and desktop applications.  SILK as a cryptocurrency is in a gray area especially in the development of applications for it.  I do like the idea of dropping coin from the name but seems possibly dangerous.  Ill post a link of the trademark if anyone has expertise in the subject.

It may be safer to stick to silkcoin (as eloquently suggested recently) with a possible ticker switch to slk.

I can help out with advising on the legal front. Where's the trademark registered? I wouldn't be too concerned about a trademark as long as it's not directly competing (for example, there's a soy milk company also called "silk"), although it depends what exactly the Japanese company is building.

I know you guys like the original name, but I stand by my assertion that association with silk road is confusing and probably won't help.

I knew about silk road before learning about SilkCoin, and i never once thought that it had anything to do with it.
Anyway, its a well known ancient trade route, it never was a term used for the black market. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road
This coin is going to be designed for trading and have its own marketplace, and not that many people have heard about silkroad anyway.

This coin is going to be the Aladdin's cave of cryptos

Folks on Trello right now prefer "Silk" to "Silkcoin." It preserves most of the original name but it's new. I'm also not concerned about Amazon's trademark, as a browser on Kindle is quite different from a cryptocurrency. And if they did threaten to sue, that would be great press for us. Grin

New to the SC community but really excited about what's going on here. Sorry if I missed some of this in the earlier parts of the thread, but what's the status on rebranding/renaming? Was a decision reached there?

Also, when I first heard of SC I thought it was related to Silk Road. Tbh, this could hurt in terms of negative association when it comes to going mainstream.

I can help with UI/UX, distribution, community building and am checking out the trello board as we speak.

One thing that really helped dogecoin in its early days was its marketing stunts around funding the jamaican bobsled team, etc. Is there something equivalent we can do for the relaunch?
