BRIT is marked for delisting from C-CEX.

Ah well  Sad

The fact noone's saying anything says a lot now.

Real shame, I always liked the name. In fact my 'britcoin' tweetdeck column has never been so busy with people saying there should be one. If only they knew...!

Seems like Brit is dead...again Sad

It is quiet here . I can not see many updates from Dev.
this project needs more promotions to boost it up, dev

Yea development of the new wallets is taking a bit longer than expected, sorry about that. In the meantime things are being done behind the scenes.

Once the new wallets are ready we can move forward with things. Smiley

Seems like the new wallets have been taking a while, hope everything is going well Roll Eyes
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Your new news hound on: May 13, 2017, 04:13:51 AM
Hello folks, allow me to introduce myself as a new Britboy helping out with press & P.R.

My credentials include working for the BBC World Service in the 90s & as a NYSE reporter in the 00s. Until recently I ran a jazz and chamber music record label and London concert series. I am semi retired and spend most of my time playing poker, trading crypto currencies and mining Burst.

Here are a few of the ideas I've discussed with Will7am and I welcome any feedback you have on them. Although I'm aware Brit is a technical marvel with it's ecological proof of stake, 0.5% interest etc... it needs other qualities to distinguish itself from the 600+ alt coins out there. Best achieved, I reckon, by association with fundamental British values like justice & fair play, free speech & democracy. Amnesty International was founded in Britain, we could set them up a wallet for donations. We might also do the same for key UK charities like NSPCC, RSPCA etc.

Obviously wallet downloading and usage is our top priority and increased public awareness of Brit is critical to achieve that. With Brexit in full swing the timing is excellent for media stories we can infiltrate to gain exposure. So as key Brexit events horizon we should be looking to get press, perhaps starting with 23rd June, our so-called ‘Independence Day’.

Identify with the British sense humour. First thing I did when I came across Britcoin was smile. Although I said we should ride Brexit, I'd rather do it in a Pythonesque manner than a UKIP assault. An independent Britain needs an independent currency! (Stole that T-shirt idea off Will7am). Long term we might hope the BBC enables red nose donations via Britcoin, but short term could we find a cash strapped comedy outfit that needs a wallet - something like Shit-faced Shakespeare!

A faucet to get free Brits - Will is working on getting us onto cryptogiveaways.org. Free stuff always attracts attention.

If we could get a renowned British restaurant to accept Britcoin that would be cool. I'll try my posh local fish & chips place, Geales. You should all get out there and try your favourite eateries - anything from full fry-up type cafes to Ottolenghis and gastro pubs. Obviously a mobile wallet will help here.

A couple of the more wacky ideas I had are borrowing Marvel Comic's Captain Britain as a publicity image, at least until their lawyers take notice and a tie up with Trump coin during the Donald's visit later this year.

So I'm happy to be aboard the good ship Brit, look forward to exchanging ideas with you, and hopefully add some value to this coin.
ATB, Richard

Welcome aboard Smiley Britcoin definitely needs a PR person

If anyone would be interested in becoming vendors on Cryptomate and help fill BRIT orders then hit me up on PM Smiley

I just noticed that Brit is on cryptomate, I saw the price was $4.20 I thought WTF? then I seen it was for 1000 Smiley

Nice we got a fiat option for brit now.

Always nice to have more options Roll Eyes any news/replies from the other exchanges?

No updates on that as of yet sadly, we're trying to ensure we stay on C-Cex for now but we will eventually get on bittrex/polo.

But in some more positive news I'm happy to announce we've got a new Press Officer for Britcoin, Richard.  I'm not sure he has an account on this forum but I'll ask and hopefully he can make a quick introduction. Smiley

Nice. Keep up the good work. Seems like Brit is still marked for delisting tho Undecided

General update - 23rd March 2017

Wallet development

Thanks to the BRIT community on being patient about these.  We cannot release new mobile or desktop wallets yet because they depend on an Electrum server, and there's a bug in the Britcoin Electrum server where it becomes unresponsive after a while.  We're still trying to sort this out but hope to have it done soon.

Due to the time lost to this bug, the new desktop wallet will just be a 'Lite' Electrum wallet of the kind you've seen in some other coins, rather than than an entirely new beast.  (We need to get a desktop wallet with SPV functionality and deterministic addresses completed as per the roadmap before the end of the period for which the investor gave funding.)  So you'd have a choice between our standard TOR-using desktop wallet that downloads the blockchain and stakes, or the Lite wallet that isn't on TOR by default and can't stake, but doesn't need to download the blockchain.

There is also a new version of the standard desktop wallet due for release with a small tail emission and minor visual improvements, as soon as we can manage to get it compiled for Windows and Mac.

Website

We have a new website at Britcoin.com; check it out!  You'll note it also links to a paper wallet and brain wallet generator (Services->Offline Storage).  Be very careful with brain wallets -- It's easy for a computer to try so many different phrases to guess your passphrase and take your coins.

Exchanges

It is expected that we will be added to the UK fiat->crypto gateway Cryptomate next week.  Please support the buy walls on C-Cex and CoinExchange to help give buyers more predictable and reasonable prices!

Nice. Is everything going as planned on the roadmap? Do you mind upload the roadmap to the website or OP? People might wonder what direction Brit is going Wink

Updated the OP a little bit and fixed that broken image Cheesy

The link to "Visit Britcoin.com for more information!" is not right

Next stop Live coin.

I thought livecoin.net because they have different fiat deposit options - most importantly EUR, which would allow people to send SEPA deposits.

But last night I checked out what it takes to deposit EUR via SEPA and they really make it ridiculously difficult, they ask you for links to forum profiles and screen shots of trades on other exchanges etc. (https://ctrlv.cz/shots/2017/03/03/El5X.png)

So this is not really a viable option for people new to Britcoin and crypto in general, the reason I want an exchange that allows fiat deposits (GBP or EUR) is because when I tell people they need to buy Bitcoin to buy Britcoin it confuses them. Cheesy

I've been reaching out to different exchanges all week, we'll see what comes of it.  Do you have any in mind? Smiley

Hmm,  that does change things.

Trex still a viable option? It will be interesting to see if they still have some Brit in their old wallet.

I was just thinking those bigger exchanges like Poloniex or Bittrex. Not sure what exchange allows easy fiat deposits tho
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][♔] Britcoin 3 [BRIT] | 5% annual PoS | Always on TOR on: March 03, 2017, 04:13:57 AM
I've noticed that the max coin supply (of 20 or 30 million coins) was never properly set, not even in Britcoin 1, so I plan to release a fix for that.

I can easily cap it at 30 million and have already written code to do that.

Does anyone have any thoughts about a "tail emission" to keep a smaller amount of coins being made for much longer after the 30 million limit is reached?  What form should such a tail emission take?  0.5% annual interest rate?  0.05%?

Monero has a tail emission, as does Dogecoin.  The reason tail emissions may be good is because:

- They encourage people to keep staking even after the main emission.  (Without a tail emission, stakers only get the transaction fees of transactions they include in the blocks they create.  But what happens if there are hours without any transactions?  One might give up and stake a different coin instead.)
- Perhaps they help to restrict transaction fee inflation.  ("I'm already getting money from staking so I guess I don't need to increase my fees  Smiley" )  Cash is one of the payment methods that Britcoin will compete with, which presently has zero fees (until cash machine operators decide to increase the fees).
- They can compensate for lost supply.  Some Britcoins are lost every year, on purpose or by accident.

Mo

It's going to take a long time before 30m available supply is reached.  So with that in mind I'm going to say 0.05%, unless you can think of a reason why that's too low/high Cheesy

Agreed. Nice work! We just need a better exchange now to possibly grab more attention Roll Eyes

Thanks Peter Cheesy

I'm hoping to get BRIT trading on livecoin.net soon, the listing fee is 2 BTC so I have to justify the cost before moving forward.  Hopefully if things go to plan it will be listed sometime next week, then I will get BRIT/GBP trading on Cryptomate.co.uk.  This will hopefully give Britcoin a bit more accessibility, since we'll have GBP/EUR/BTC deposit options, rather than just c-cex. Smiley

Sounds like a good plan. Is there a particular reason to get Brit listed on livecoin.net but not others?

As promised the big day is here and the new official website is up and running;

Britcoin.com

There will be further development and new features added in the coming months, so any ideas on what you'd like to see would be much appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who helped (too many to list) getting the domain and website online, it has taken awhile but I think it was worth it..  Time will tell Smiley

All the best and go BRIT! Cheesy

It's really nice and has a level of attention to detail that's lacking in lots of coins. I love it!

The explorer (britchain) seems to be down btw, not sure who controls that.

Fantastic work mate. Britcoin all the way!

Agreed. Nice work! We just need a better exchange now to possibly grab more attention Roll Eyes

Dear Britcoin Team

Over the last few years I have tried to contribute to the world of cryptocurrency with ideas and tried to help others, in doing so I have hurt the feelings of good people. Many of the posts were made in haste and without forethought not only causing suffering for good people here, but also people who may have read, or been insulted by them.

I am genuinely very sorry for any pain or suffering I have caused, I just wanted to help, I am sorry.

Regards

Nick

Welcome back Smiley

BRIT was my first real big rent-mining win so I've always got a soft spot for it.

Unfortunately, it is marked for delisting from C-Cex, which means it will be without a marketplace to trade at.

I'll do what I can to get it listed elsewhere...

Well...that's unfortunate Undecided and yah we might need another exchange soon
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][♔] Britcoin 3 [BRIT] | 5% annual PoS | Always on TOR on: January 13, 2017, 05:27:33 AM
Any update on the new website?

Hey rghmodz, hope you had a good xmas and NYE. Smiley

Progress is being made, hoping to have it done by the end of the month if things go as planned.. But as always don't quote me on these things lol

I'll send you a preview if you want mate, just jump on IRC or message me and I'll give you a link.  Always good to have feedback init. Smiley
Thanks I did. Hope you had a good xmas and NYE too.

That's good. Don't rush with it. Better to have it working and looking nice and with little to no bugs and typos than have it launched sooner with mistakes and stuff.

Yeah I will be on IRC soon. Thanks.

Good to hear.  I totally agree with the need to launch looking right and with perfect copy etc.  I'm going to be going to France for a few weeks later this month where I can get a lot of dev work done, in isolation.  Will make sure the new official website is my top priority while there. Smiley

And I live in a shared house in case any burglars are reading this lol Cheesy

Hope everything is going well Wink Is there other thing being developed in parallel besides the website Huh Roll Eyes

sounds all good, nice to see there is progress and active development.

but most importantly imo, is to get brit listed on a legit exchange.
c-cex is all scam run by thieves. coins go missing and tickets never replied to

Agreed, but we probably will not get enough volume to keep on it now Undecided
