BTC Had a rollback in 2010 and look at it now, please people do not listen to the FUD Bobsurplus is spewing all over the forum. If you have concerns please post on Veritalk.info and get real anwsers if you would like to continue watching the FUD entertainment then please stay, I think I heard somewhere that FUD is sometimes good for a coin.. any thoughts ?
This is such bullshit...  You cannot compare the hard-fork that bitcoin devs and miners initiated to fix a PROTOCOL FLAW back in 2010 with VeriCoin dev's decision to bail out an exchange.

God...  some people are just so ignorant it's sad.   It's not FUD if it's true - it's a warning.

The community that fought for their coin and fought against the theft of $2 million dollars worth of investors money.

Hmmmm.....
You mean the community that was stupid enough to have 30% of a coin on one exchange?
Rather than MintPal pay everyone back, they leaned on the devs to rollback the chain.  It is disgraceful that the devs even considered it - period.

They didn't do it to bail out an exchange. That was a symptom of the rollback, designed to save the coin from certain death. 7.5mill staking at time of attack vs 8 million stolen. Coin is dead if they don't roll back. There is an argument to "let it die then" on philosophical grounds, but they made the only decision possible for a coin with a $6million economy at the time.

So if you and your friends want to "spread the truth about vericoin" or whatever reason you choose to believe to validate you posting here every 2 minutes - spread the one I've just explained to you.

I understand what your saying, but do you think if 2-3k bitcoins were stolen from bitstamp they would fork and rollback the bitcoin blockchain?

They wouldn't.

It's very unfortunate what happened and given the situation whatever action could of been taken wasn't good.

2-3k? Make it 2-3mil and it might be comparable. I'll bet BTC wouldn't be around if a single person snatched up that many

There are over 10mil coins staking. I don't understand the panicking

One person controlling 30% of all coins means the coin dies. Their hands were tied and they took the best approach for everyone involved.

Still can't feel sorry for those on the other end, however. It's all in the game yo

Note: this is not an attempt to besmirch the dev team

I think Vericoin could use a marketing makeover. This is not to say the team has done a bad job, but I believe they could go about some things in a more professional manner. For instance, during the webcast, Patrick mentioned his little squabble with the turd who was trying to say he DOS'd, and while it's fine to refute that publicly, I feel like much less time should have been spent on that. A simple, "some guy claimed to DOS us when in reality our code is secure thanks to our expert MS programmer and the fact we ban IPs at a certain point."

While you guys(dev team) can't ignore the community, I feel like sometimes you are sucked in to pointless debates that are meant to FUD. I'm not saying you guys should take the approach politicians or CEOs generally take, the "I have no comment", but I feel like some counter arguments are made hastily and unnecessarily which may damage the integrity of the coin. Remember, we want mainstream appeal and if some schmuck digs up posts(or tweets or IRC chat logs) with unprofessional quips, it could damage our brand.

Anywho, VRC is supremely undervalued right now. BUY!

Love gobbling up these cheap VRC

Off-topic, but I began mining 2 or 3 days ago as a trial with my laptop and I've yet to receive coins in my wallet. I realize it takes time, but it shouldn't take more than a day, 2 at the most, correct? I've checked addresses on my .bat file and it's the right one.

Hangout review.  The previewed renovation of the site looked cool.

Can't say I was impressed with the FIAT wallet.  Was hoping to buy BTC with a debit card and bypassing the 5 day waiting period from Coinbase.  But that's not going to work.  Basically, they said it'll forward you to the moolah.io portal.   Wha....   Undecided
To be fair, it's not realistic for them to accept and store credit card info. They also mentioned that they don't have the funds to legitimately handle those sorts of transactions anyhow. I'm disappointed as well, but realistically speaking, it's a way for new users to get connected with legitimate fiat-crypt exchanges.

The comments on Coinbase are the most intriguing, however, as CB support would be insane. They're the group responsible for teaming up with Beyonce and Jayz to manage ticket purchases via bitcoin.

VRC plummeted under 0.0036

Oh noes!! I'm still up 3x+surf buys

VRC is hitting the moon, so if it goes to 30k, 20k, back to 10k...whatever. Unless an alt-coin gets celebrity or Amazon/Google/Apple-like acceptance, Vericoin is THE coin.

FYI everybody, we are unlikely to get to 100K with a slew of hesitant short term investors.  This is the nature of markets.  Many things are in the works and nearly ready for launch.
100k?

We'll take a break at 1m before hitting the moon at 10m.

Also, I'm not the least bit worried about this dump- it's a blatant attempt for whales to get their cheap fill.

Vericoin is the future

it's time to buy some cheap VRC.it will big dump in few days.

He must've missed the whale attacks that barely got the price down to 39k. They eventually gave up on their quest to 30k or got their fill from the constant 40k-45k waves.

But BC also made many new innovations of the time like, oh IDK the whole pure PoS idea that nearly every coin is based on now

I don't think that's correct. There were other PoS coins but BC was first to reach full PoS because of it's short PoW period.

People are not grateful, and forgettable.
Without BC, there would be no VRC, and many other short-term PoS/PoW coins.
We should all acknowledge BC

edit:
one/two month in crypto-world is years in real-world, people forget things so fast, such a pity

If people have followed my twitter account, I have only had good things to say about BC and rat4 (the BC developer). We're all in this crypto business together.

I didn't mean that to you, just to some people, for instance, koralon.

BC DEVELOPER DIDN'T INVENT PURE POS.

No need to reply if you still didn't get it.

BC was the first to get into POS I believe due to its fast POW time and clever marketing.

That said they are a good team and a good coin, no reason to have anomosity to anyone in the crypto community progressing the technology. The BC devs are very capable people.

That premine asterisk on Coinmarketcap looks too fugly for me to ever get near them

That's not a premine asterisk. Single asterisk represents coins that are not mineable.

And I feel stupid

Thanks for clearing that up!

You guys are kidding. Right?

no, scroll couple pages back

This is just ridiculous. You have NO WAY of knowing whose wallet that is. You may not like IE, but let's stick to the facts. Okay?

What's wrong with speculation? If every post in this thread were based on undeniable fact, there wouldn't be anywhere near 300 pages. Besides, a guy trying to pump and dump is a guy trying to make money. I'd be worried if people weren't doing that and/or FUDing.

I could speculate and say that the Queen is a dude, but I'd be wrong. Just like you guys are. As a matter of fact, your speculations are so far out there that I actually thought you were kidding.

The nice thing about FUD like this is that it's so redicilous that nobody would believe it. So, speculate away.

Wait a minute, are you officially associated with Vericoin? I only ask because, whether or not you're right, getting into back and forth spats on a public forum is a bad look for a company. I'm quite new to crypto, but I firmly believe in this coin. I bought in at 16k, held when it dipped just under 10k, lost 3k selling at 21 and buying back in at 24k and haven't looked back. I'm in it for the long haul, and maybe this is just how the crypto world is(like most internet forums), but it's disconcerting that a guy affiliated with a coin such as Vericoin is willing to get into arguments on a forum, when the argument isn't questioning Vericoin or its devs themselves.

Maybe IE is your friend, so perhaps you should make an alt-account to back him up. And to clarify again, I really don't give a shit if the dude is manipulating the price. He can do so all he wants, because in the long run, this coin has the features and devs to succeed.

If someone FUDs VeriCoin, the devs, or VeriCoin investors (that includes you), it is potentially harmful to VeriCoin.

That's the nature of the business, no? I just don't see why a community manager is getting involved in potential pissing contests. You can't stop those guys putting up 50BTC walls and manipulating the price to make money. So, if that's what IE is doing, then I envy him and his 100BTCs to throw around, because I'd do the same and make a living manipulating markets all day.

iOS, Android and possible Windows mobile wallets announced on twitter!

God I love Vericoin Shocked

https://i.imgur.com/J8ZhtkB.png

Can't wait to see the security features, cause you know people lose their phones/drop them in water all the time. I've never used screen protectors or cases, never lost a phone, and have cracked just one screen in 5+ years, but I'm still not staking shit from my phone unless there's an easy+secure way to recover my mobile wallet. However, if it's pulled off correctly, well...the hype is real.

Backup your wallet.dat file, you can recreate your wallet anywhere you want if its lost or broken.

* If its lost, you better get those off said phone unless you have super encryption.

That's the obvious answer, but I wonder if there are other ways. Maybe a cloud-based backup mechanism implemented by Vericoin itself upon setup. I'm still relatively new to crypto(~6 months), so perhaps that's just not an option or treads towards defeating the purpose of anon cryptocurrencies.
