1  Other / Meta / Re: A humble suggestion! on: June 13, 2024, 04:41:47 PM
It would be helpful if there is a feature that allows users to see who quoted them and where. Sifting through all the replies can be very time-consuming, and important interactions can easily be missed.

This already exist as you have been informed earlier, you can make use of the telegram bot for that using the link above to set for that feature, alternatively, you can also set for notify me button on each board as the case may be, you will be notified from any thread you're been quoted or a new reply is made and this goes directly to your inbox on the email address used on the forum, but most make use of the telegram bot for more features as they may want like merits, mentions, quotes and so on.
2  Other / Meta / Re: Small improvement regarding activity / "Show others your online status" on: June 13, 2024, 03:57:06 PM
This is nice to see and thanks to Powerglove for coming up with such idea, also to the admin for a very effective implementation on this, we now see more reason on why privacy in very more needed even on the way we appear on the forum, its not always ideal to have people predict the active time we are on the forum precisely, but being shown as recently could mean now, few hours ago or even some days after, you cannot be well predicted on your last active time now, its such a good and new development.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is a fun activity but it has some potential to be profitable sometimes on: June 12, 2024, 04:38:53 PM
If we have opportunity in it, then we should make use of it to earn and also enjoy ourself with gambling, but we should not have a misplaced priority in it in such a way that we take it in the wrong approach, we have to realized that gambling is not a means of making money daily, we are to only have a daily means of having fun in it, but if there comes the opportunity earn, then we should take a very good advantage of it and earn and still maintain having the fun.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Spot ETFs' impact on Gold ETFs on: June 12, 2024, 03:45:27 PM
If others have been considering gold ETF before the onset of bitcoin ETF, then its time now to identify the difference and how everyone can have the freedom of going for what they want, as long as bitcoin keep existing, it will always serves an alternative to every other aspect of the financial economy for such to be relevant and desiring for profitability, it should not be a surprise at all if what they want now is bitcoin ETF and not gold ETF any longer, just as we already have a shift from fiat to bitcoin.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to maximize winning potential and control excessive gambling habits on: June 11, 2024, 05:33:46 PM
I don't know how effective this could be and how we may achieve it more easier, maximizing winning potential is not proven completely by hundred percent from the gambling strategy we use, and this also have no been proven as one of the ways a gamblers could get addicted because of gambling oftentimes, we have to explain more better between the lines their differences and what each stand to implicate on gamblers.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My deep regret and pain in crypto. on: June 11, 2024, 04:40:08 PM
but i have decided to live the past and start a new journey with Bitcoin this year and right now I have accumulated a little using the DCA method Bitcoin will keep growing so don't give up start a new journey today.

Am excited for your decision taken to move on, you have learnt your lessons already i want to let you know this that what it have installed for you to take in the coming days ahead are far better than the ones you have already lost in the past, bitcoin is not a market whereby anyone can just rush into it and make mistakes, each steps has it own repercussion and we have to decide right and take the right step by learning to know what to do first before the start of anything.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has higher market cap than the three biggest banks in the world on: June 11, 2024, 03:41:56 PM
While scrolling on coinmarketcap, I've seen this post of watcher.guru that Bitcoin has a higher market capitalization compared to the three biggest banks in the world, even combining them all.

X link source: https://x.com/WatcherGuru/status/1799853290538365141

Based on: https://companiesmarketcap.com/assets-by-market-cap/
Here are their current rankings:

Bitcoin currently ranked at #9
JP Morgan Chase ranked at #16
Bank of America ranked at #35
ICBC ranked at #45

I do hope that people will realize the full the potential of Bitcoin. It has surpassed the combined market cap of these known banks globally and if they value their money, it's not too late to invest in Bitcoin. Everyone is also free to check out that link above about to see what are the other notable and top coporations that has surpassed by Bitcoin in terms of its market capitalization.

PS: Ethereum ranked at #24 which is higher than the two above.

If we are to compare the worth and market cap of bitcoin to all other cryptocurrencies in the world, we are going to discover that bitcoin is still more far fetched than what they all constitute altogether in cryptocurrency, this tells us that bitcoin is the major global attraction on both the economic and financial regulatory part of the world and the government cannot do anything against it, all these were so because it provides the answer to every challenged situations regarding finances in the economy.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino companies' responsibilities to rehabilitation institutions on: June 10, 2024, 08:24:25 PM
my question is, do casinos need to be charged to carry out csr to rehabilitation centers so that these rehabilitation centers can provide discounts for cases related to gambling addiction? and what about online casinos, how should they carry out csr since they operate globally?

Are all these what is constituted on the terms and conditions before establishing a casino gambling platform in any country, if by law the government enact the use of this conduct then they will have no option than to see it as a personal responsible to be in charge of CSR, and as for those we often see that go into this acts, they are well renown organizations and companies who have the affordability of taking care of that aspect and there is department assigned to mange and monitor such section within their management team.

snipped

Try as much as possible to make your email hidden from the public, secondly if you can go through your settings and restrict who can send you PM and make all newbies unable to do so, all these will help you avoid receiving any unsolicited messages on your inbox, and in case of the ones that manage to escape and still sent you one, once you see them, ignore the user and delete the message, don't accept anyhow inbox in the name of being the same forum user, you cant trust people you see on proxy, they may have shady intentions.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Receiving bitcoin donations through my website on: June 10, 2024, 06:39:54 PM
If I am receiving some small bitcoin donations - 15,000 to 35,000 sats per donation, then how do I know if that donation is from a KYC exchange or a non-KYC exchange?

Does the answer depend on the address of the sender?

The donation you're receiving is not a thing of consideration on whether its coming from a KYC exchange or an exchange that does not require for KYC, its not amount all these that determined whether the coins will be suspected or not for illegal financial activities, though i still understand this as part of the reason some will come and tell you they will only make use for decentralized exchanges in other to avoids other shows from a centralized one, but honestly one doesn't have to worry himself from those making donations and from the account they are doing that from.

12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: JJG's Bitcoin Investment Ideas (Sustainable Withdrawal / Portfolio Maintenance) on: June 08, 2024, 03:39:34 PM

I am not sure what you mean by 30%? 4% is the sustainable withdrawal rate for traditional investments, and I am thinking that 10% is sustainable for bitcoin, but yeah you could come to some other conclusion, but I would be hesitate to employ a really high withdrawal rates, such as 30%..

I was asking your opinion about how much %of btc is health in a 2 MI usd portfolio?
30, 50%?

In a diversified portfolio with bonds and etf.

I am asking because you said before that you were already retired and had a diversified portfolio when you got to btc.

Following up with you both is interesting and enlightening as well because one of the things am also considering on this is to set a model on the percentage I will be considering on by bitcoin portfolio later in the future after considering other asset as second plan on my investments, anyone having a future or long term plan for himself will have to consider some of the points raised from this discussion as being relevant because they can also build their own decision from them and still follow up the trend.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the bears take advantage? This bull run lasts so long on: June 07, 2024, 06:04:59 PM
This year I was expecting that we would see a main bull run later after halving, in winter, like we see traditionally but today the situation is absolutely different, we saw an all-time high of many coins very soon and the price has been increasing for months, good news after good news, now I can't imagine how long this bull market will last.

Are we tired of the bull market already? if we look back to the last time we had the bear market sometimes last year and how it lasted us, many of us were so tired and fed up to the extent that we want to see the bull market begins, and so be it very nicely on us all, we had it earlier than expected before the commencement of the halving and we still sustain it after the halving, this alone will be a reason why we should remain focused on the current season and enjoy it while it last.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 500sat/vb for a transaction? Has the world gone mad? on: June 07, 2024, 05:31:06 PM
I hate high fees, I hated them since the first jump I feel like getting robbed every time I have to spend more money to spend my money, when I have to wait to get better rates, I am a merchant obviously biased but there are moments like this when it's not about bias, it's rage!

The high transaction fees are not permanent for now, its something we experience occasionally, there are times you can get as low as 7sat/vbyte not to even talk of when the fees were 1 sat/vbyte before the start of ordinals inscriptions, to me, i still see this as being fare enough compared to some other crypto networks in which their transaction fees are extremely high, you can imagine some situations whereby you will have to pay over $50 for making a single transaction.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #4 on: June 06, 2024, 07:59:26 PM
This can only be discovered by the available statistical numbers of miners at a particular given time competing for the block rewards, since it's approximately 10 minutes or less for a new block to be mined or rewarded, if the mining difficulty increases then the hash rate reduces and same applies if the hash rate increases the mining difficulty reduces.

Quote
The network calculates the total time it takes to mine the last 2,016 blocks. The ratio of the standard 20,160 minutes (10 minutes x 2,016 blocks) to the time it took to scale the last difficulty epoch is then multiplied by the most recent difficulty level. The calculation yields a result that will determine the required percentage change in the mining difficulty that will bring the block time to the desired 10 minutes.https://www.coindesk.com/learn/bitcoin-mining-difficulty-everything-you-need-to-know/

Mathematically

60 mins make one hour
10 mins average block time

60-10=50

50/10 =5

My answer is 5 minutes for average time and

5x20160x10=1008000 difficulty adjustment

17  Other / Meta / Re: Brand new / Newbie accounts shouldn't be allowed to post links early on on: June 06, 2024, 05:34:14 PM
We often see users creating accounts, more than one in most cases, and using them to advertise a certain platform, project, or app by starting new topics in different sections of the forum. What they do is make it sound like they are asking a genuine question or they are concerned about something or maybe doing some research about it, but it can be seen that they have no other intention but to promote what they are mentioning.

Can we assume for one man's transgressions as being applicable for others to also share in the consequences, not all newbies are shit posters, spammers or scammers, we can't just act blantly in such direction and take assumptions on that, I've seen a lot of newbies coming here with various opportunities and some are even taking more efforts in purchasing copper membership rank in other for them to be able to unleashed opportunities they brought in to this platform, but in case you detect any for abuse, make report to the moderators.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Non-Profit Forum Signatures Initiative on: June 06, 2024, 01:31:59 PM
I thought it could be a good idea to have a dedicated thread for any worthy projects that members who are not participating in paid-for signature campaigns could advertise in their signatures.

It's a nice suggestion but I think since the forum has not taken responsibility for starting one before, it may not be part of what they may consider, also since they have been making warnings on participating in any signature campaign or service on the forum to be at one personal risk, they may not also consider creating one for members to wear in other not to appear being sentimental, the purpose for this platform is on Bitcoin discussion, every other agendas are secondary, but for the sake of the pretty ones available like bitcoincleanup.com charity signature and Peach Bitcoin Buy and Sell Bitcoin p2p are good examples one can voluntarily participate in.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Converting altcoin profits into Bitcoin? on: June 05, 2024, 02:58:51 PM
Is it best to take my altcoin profits in the next 6-12 months at the bull run peak and then buy Bitcoin in 2026 during the next bear market?

So you can wait from now till 2026 before investing on bitcoin, maybe before then all your assets on other altcoins could have vanished away on losses and you may not be left with any profit again to use in making bitcoin investment, why not do that now, take the profits and invest in bitcoin, we are still on the post halving market pump, which means if you can buy now, you have higher chances of making profits till we reach to a new all time high of above $100,000 and by the year 2026, you could have achieved what you're meant to started with already.

20  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Summary and Shadow banning on: June 04, 2024, 05:12:42 PM
I have a question regarding trust summaries and feedback. I have interacted with many users here and they would vouch for having a positive experience with me and not a single one of them would claim me being a scammer. Still,  a crazy, mental user with a 'Legendary' status who has never ever worked on any project with me ever has left me a negative trust review.

Base on my understanding and little experience with the forum, no one will issue you a review or tag without having a reason for that, what I will advise is for you to keep on doing what you know best, because your real identity will always reflect from the way of how you make your stay here.

This is visible to every user on bitcointalk and potentially hurting my image, however, when I leave a counter, a negative feedback towards them with an explanation about him, it is not visible to the world.

It's because you're not a DT member.
