1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PND]Pandacoin | First Hybrid Wallet | 5000% Faster Blockchain Download | Instant Sync on: March 04, 2015, 11:41:30 PM
All I really have to say on this, is that we have to do something fast. It's only a matter of time until we're off bittrex.

We, the community, need to make PND useful.

If you want your PND to be worth something, then make it so.

For PND to be useful it must be spendable or derive value by introducing unique functionality that will make it more desirable to own than other cryptos. To date PND is not spendable, the mythical 100k merchants have not materialized. Other than a slick wallet and fast blockchain sync PND has put nothing on the table to differentiate itself from any of the myriad other coins being traded; so as a collectible it has nothing going for it.

One look at the order book on Bittrex will tell you all you need to know about what the future of this coin is. Once the dumping is done and the BTC volume drops off PND will be dropped and fade away into obscurity. Add to that the fact that the Dev team has lost key members and the rest have gone into stealth mode (if, indeed, there is a Dev team left) and what is left is a coin with a bleak future.

When is the slaughter of panda's going to end?

Yes, this is not good. The panda is endangered specifies. We all need what to do what we can help them.
Please don't buy any if you are offered one.

Lol, the blind followers still do not understand that the devs are clever P`n`d, pump and Dumpers.
They are very quite atm, that means buying low.
One day the rumors about 100k merchants will start again....
Now scream like hell to defend your gods........
Cuase they did and hopefully will do more good stuff does not mean that they are don`t manipulate you...and the market.
Where is Linux_mintpal, bdanyo? all out now?

Pretty much the question most of us like to know as well

I'm thinking the rats are deserting the sinking ship. And yeah, 100,000 merchants my ass. We've been had kiddies. I'm sitting on a heavy but mostly worthless bag, as I'm sure many of you are too. When will we ever learn that this time or any other time, it ain't ever different? *Sigh*

PND seems to be dying a slow death. *sigh* Fancy wallet is all well and good, but that's old news. 100,000 merchants? Where? When? Would be nice to see some current news from the Dev team. Just say'n.

that was good and my same opinion too.

I tried to get the devs to talk, but alas, no dice.

Yeah, Reddit last post 2 days ago. Facebook last post 1/15. Twitter last post 1/19. The IRC chat, well forget that, no meaningful discussion there at all. Meanwhile PND price sinks lower than the most obvious shitcoins out there. Too bad, PND has a great vision, a great plan and great initial execution of that plan. Where's the followup? Where's the guidance as to the progress being made? Where's the road map of further development? All we get is silence. Kinda sucks.

In order for PND to acquire tangible value it has to be exchangeable for goods and services. To that end an eBay-like auction site and an emarketplace that use PND as a medium of exchange would be most helpful.

What is "generated but not accepted interest"? Still there after 3.0.1 upgrade.

It means someone on the network beat you in creating the next block so your stake became invalid. This is not a bug, don't worry you'll still get 2.5% annually. Staking is like a race, you win some and you lose some but at the end of the day year, you'll still get 2.5% interest on coins staked.

Thanks Joori.

Why should there be an entry barrier based on the amount of tokens owned? Am I any less a supporter of the blocknet because I own less than 1000 tokens? Is my voice somehow less relevant? Setting a barrier to entry based on the number of tokens owned flies in the face of the whole cryptocurrency movement. It's crap.

Perhaps you misunderstood.

Allow me to clarify.

There will never be any barrier to entry to the Slack chat. Anyone is welcome to register for Slack and to follow the activity taking place there.

My intention is to create a private group within the Slack chat for verified holders of a set amount of tokens.

I think that both the supporters/investors and the Blocknet developers would value having such a space where everyone has a verified vested interest in the project.

However, you are right that this would precipitate the unfortunate scenario where some token holders would not be invited to the private group within the public Slack chat.

And that is why I am asking for input.

Ok. I understand. I'm sure you have considered how the existence of a private group within the larger group appears exclusionary and how that just might not resonate well with the the excluded "have not so manys". How long will it take for the private group to begin to exert itself in the matter of policy decisions? It's like the current structure of publicly held corporations where the elitist boards of directors get to call the shots while the regular shareholders lack any real say (by and large, granting the occasional exception) in how the company is run.

As soon as you create an arbitrary line between "us" and "them" you begin to descend a slippery slope.

Almost ready with the Slack here...recovering from the flu so it's taken a tad longer than I'd hoped.

I want to maintain a private group of verified holders of Blocknet tokens on Slack.

So I seek input as to what amount of tokens should be set as the barrier to entry.

1000 tokens has been proposed by a few XC supporters.

This would represent an approximate contribution of $100 USD to the ITO.

Now's your time to give your input!

Why should there be an entry barrier based on the amount of tokens owned? Am I any less a supporter of the blocknet because I own less than 1000 tokens? Is my voice somehow less relevant? Setting a barrier to entry based on the number of tokens owned (creating a blocknet elite of haves while excluding the "have not so manys") flies in the face of the whole cryptocurrency movement. It's crap.

http://www.examiner.com/article/bank-deposits-will-soon-no-longer-be-considered-money-but-paper-investments

"On Sunday in Brisbane the G20 will announce that bank deposits are just part of commercial banks’ capital structure, and also that they are far from the most senior portion of that structure. With deposits then subjected to a decline in nominal value following a bank failure, it is self-evident that a bank deposit is no longer money in the way a banknote is. If a banknote cannot be subjected to a decline in nominal value, we need to ask whether banknotes can act as a superior store of value than bank deposits? If that is the case, will some investors prefer banknotes to bank deposits as a form of savings? Such a change in preference is known as a "bank run."

Each country will introduce its own legislation to effect the ‘ bail-in’ agreed by the G20 this coming weekend.

Large deposits at banks are no longer money, as this legislation will formally push them down through the capital structure to a position of material capital risk in any "failing" institution. In our last financial crisis, deposits were de facto guaranteed by the state, but from November 16th holders of large-scale deposits will be, both de facto and de jure, just another creditor squabbling over their share of the assets of a failed bank." - Zerohedge

This is.. massive. I can't really express how I feel about this, just shocked. Though not really, since these people have been working to enslave the masses for so long, they are just ramping it up.
They know that the real crash is coming soon.

Seriously this is hilarious. The wealthy will be fleecing the rich. Fucking Zombiebanks. Pour it all down the black hole called Derivatives.
"...$1.5 quadrillion derivatives bubble..." - Webster Tarpley
1.5 quadrillion lol!

Accounts with less than $250,000 at FDIC participating banks will still be covered under FDIC rules.

Can coins from the Poloniex Exchange be withdrawn and sent to the blocknet wallet?

Worked for me this afternoon.

I got to give props to synechist for keeping a professional attitude and moderating the Thread accordingly.

Synechist has been providing exquisite community support in XCurrency project since its first month or so, if half the shitcoins had 1 person like him each in their own team, the alt scene would have surpassed bitcoin by now, he is a real asset to any coin team and poses the benchmark in community support. I provide pretty much the same services in my field but im not even half good.

@Cryptico: thank god dude, now plz just chillax now!

Indeed props to synechist.. I will ...maybe Smiley

How about something like this for PND http://mashable.com/2014/09/18/australias-first-bitcoin-eftpos-card/

Your expectation from this coin are ridiculous. Getting paid in panda. Can you even imagine that?

*Sigh*

Apparently reading comprehension isn't one of your strong points. The point of my suggestion was that the payee receives payment in a currency other than PND if PND payments aren't an option.

Read, think then post. Try it sometime.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PND]Pandacoin | Cryptocurrency for the masses | Easy to use, buy, mine and understand | on: September 01, 2014, 02:15:14 AM
Somebody said something about paying a gas bill with PND a few posts back. That got me to thinking. It's one thing to get people to pay with PND and quite another to get merchants to accept PND as payment. So I think that what would make PND a really usable currency would be a way for people to use PND as a payment vehicle and have merchants get paid in their native currency if they weren't accepting PND.

If the process was black boxed as part of the transaction so payer and payee weren't involved then PND would have the potential to gain universal appeal and would be set apart from other crypto's. Undoubtedly a Dev's nightmare, but hey, you dudes are up to a challenge are you not? Grin Wink

First, nice job with the release Devs. Downloaded and installed PandaBank and it worked right off with my existing wallet.dat file. I really like the GUI of PandaBank as well; especially the ability to see coin balances by account. My only negative comment relates to the slowness of the application when switching between windows. It's a little painful but I understand that that issue is being addressed by the Dev team. I also bought a bunch of PND using Paypal and that was a breeze. The coins arrived almost immediately.

I like the breadth of your vision for the coin and hope that you'll keep up the effort with as much dedication as you've so far displayed. I did a news search on PandaCoin and was surprised that there was scarcely a mention of the new release and features. I'm thinking that if mass adoption is one of your goals for this coin that you have to reach out and educate the folks for who cryptocurrencies are just something that the financial establishment and government agencies are constantly warning them to avoid. To accomplish that you are going to have to reach beyond the established media carrying cryptocurreny news.

All in all, great work. Keep it up!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PND]Pandacoin | 9 DAYS LEFT | August 30th - Rethinking Digital Currencies | on: August 21, 2014, 07:10:28 PM
The run up in PND's price is similar to the rise in a company's stock price prior to an expected good earnings announcement. The actual announcement, even if it meets or exceeds expectations, usually gives way to a price correction. I expect there will be a sell-off in PND after the 8/30 announcement as profit takers cash out. No matter though. If the Devs aren't just blowing smoke, which at this time doesn't seem to be the case, then the new initiatives should build real value for the coin which will lead to a further increase of price.

Anyone else care to provide their story for how they got here? I liked Bdanyo's story, and I was happy to tell mine Smiley

Someone offered 100,000 pnd to bagholders of, I think, Asiacoin (don't really remember). I took him up on the offer and have been accumulating pnd ever since.

A misunderstanding then. No harm, no foul.

Agreed.
