going with the nature of this design.

it's already being used on a few more sites that have added use for shield coin.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHLD] ShieldCoin - X15 - PoS - RELAUNCH on: January 02, 2015, 10:25:17 PM
Have not gone anywhere. Smiley  A few other projects are on the go.

Please understand, that anyone owning shield on shittrex exchange would have had their coins stuck there forever.

It was us that put a node back online, to enable you to move your coins around again.  I hope you put your coins at cryptsy.

Shield coin is in talks with a few other devs, we are talking about shieldcoin 2.0 to protect the circulation.

We are also toying with the idea of entering the gaming industry.

Sorry I do not have much else to tell you.

 - Update -

Things did not work out well for our initial test runs over the weekend.  But I don't like keeping people in the dark.

We are going to continue working on our technology but we clearly started this project too early.  And it is unfortunate that some whales used our coin price as a personal play toy for their own gain.  And we are getting blamed for that.  We still hold our coins.  Development takes time and we can't satisfy the whims of every entry price for people in this thread.  The next time you see us will be when the tech is closer to finished.  This might take up to another month.  Our initial chats with our partner made it sound like this would go more smoothly but additional time is clearly needed.

If the community would like to take over as they keep suggesting, then we could reconvene at a later time to combine our features with whatever feature set the community here develops.  But if what we develop seriously interferes with what the community here does then we will need to have a conversation about that.  At that point it may need to be a different coin/fork.

-------------------------------------------------

Now for something very serious that needs to be addressed which is not being taken lightly.

Someone in here did some real investigative work over the weekend, 4chan-style.  The previous threat was taken a step further and one of the developers had been contacted at their home.  They were threatened along with their family.  A complete name dox of family members associated with the developer was attained somehow.  Whether this has real intentions behind it or not is irrelevant and all threats are now being taken seriously.  A police report has been filed and all threats in this thread along with usernames have been recorded.  If the police consider it a real threat then bitcointalk may be subpoenaed for further information of the offending usernames.

We believe a personal information leak had something to do with 99designs because this is the dev who paid 99d up front with their credit card with the same phone number on file that was called.  He shut the contest down Monday morning without discussing these actions with the rest of the team.  This may have been premature and I am unsure if the entries can be recovered or not.  I do not blame him though for acting in such a distraught manner after hearing the voicemail.

It is unclear whether the threatened developer is leaving our team at this time.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHLD] ShieldCoin - X15 - PoS - Fair Launch - Whitepaper RELEASE! on: July 18, 2014, 11:33:55 PM
DEV you were asked if you can share some transparency about the team. You were also asked to give some kind of proof on development, maybe early screen shots, I dont know. Anything.

Given the threats we have received, a full dox of team members will not happen at this time.  Sorry but a lack of transparency regarding "money laundering technology" (that gov't frowns upon) is something you can expect from most 'anon' developers.

I am Dev #3 and this is my first post.  There are three of us.  Our partnership involves another two people that are very experienced with SSL tech.  When the development is closer to final spec, we will announce who we are.

Screenshots we are definitely going to do.

To file a new company name takes 10 minutes max online

It is a bit more complicated then that.  The technology we want to implement has a patent-pending that is owned by the other party.

I feel sorry for those who put good effort into the logo contest since it seems unlikely anyone will win the bounty.

99designs holds the money in escrow.  The winner will get paid.

- Dev Update -

We are close to finalizing a partnership with another company regarding our SSL Wallet & Chat solution.  I'm not at liberty to fully disclose who this company is just yet until the ink is dried but given the debacle over the whitepaper you might have a good guess at who our partner will be.  One member of the Shieldcoin dev team also works for this company as well.

More info will be released very soon.  The last 24 hours have been very exciting internally and we couldn't be more happy.  Smiley

Having said this, the upcoming roadmap will make a lot more sense after the next update.  Please stay tuned!

How is the ink? Has it dried yet?

Update

Apologies for the delay on the roadmap.  Important people within the partnering company we are working with are still on board.  But because of personal threats to us a new company name is being filed so the original name we were partnering with won't be mentioned at this time.  But the same people with the technical expertise to make this happen are still with us 110%.

We are incredibly sorry for the drop in the price.  We bought higher as well.  We are still driven to complete our new SSL encrypted wallet method.  We believe it will drive crypto forward.  We are very excited.  More will be shared soon.

- Dev Update -

Hello community! It has been very busy for us over here! Thank you for all the entries to the design contest, there are some great ones  Smiley

Round 1 is over and it is time to decide who moves on to the final round.  Since none of the designs were actually voted for on 99designs (perhaps because nobody has an account there), I will post a link to a poll for voting shortly. Please get your votes in so it can truly be a community vote for our logo.

Thanks again for your contributions and support!

Dev Update

First I wanted to say we are very impressed with the entries for the logo contest!  Impressive.  Deciding on a final design will be tough!

We will be unveiling a roadmap very soon.  It will go into more detail with our plans for Shieldcoin going forward and how these features will roll out.

With all the drama at Mintpal today with Vericoin ......Shieldcoin could be in a position to capture the exodus if the Dev is real person and not some scamming piece of shit............he needs to come out and support the coin creating community, most if not all these coins have 0 besides a promise.....If the dev does what he says then 100k is nothing if u look at marketcap of all these fucking coins

Agree on dev transparency. If the dev will be more transparent about who is behind this team, it will add tremendous investor confidence.

Yes, and if the dev team is just one person he should say that. This haven't to be a flaw if the community supports the coin and all have the same vision and stand together. But transparence is all in this business...

Coin developers use newbie accounts and hide their identities because of the way the community reacts to any prices changes at all.

Because of someone elses FUD yesterday, myself and two other users who share this account received threats and other unpleasantness.

The features I stated in the paper are under development. I am also adding a filesharing mechanism because it isn't much more work to implement into the current project.

We will continue to move forward regardless of setbacks, and we will have a paid $300 USD logo contest announced shortly, also.

Ok, so as you can see I made the shield in 3D:

Couple of advantages for future with this approach is that you can do lots of nice hi res shots, animations and angles etc and it's already ready to go.

These look really good, I like the white one a lot. What's the community think?

Also, we're now listed on Cryptsy!

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHLD] ShieldCoin - X15 - PoS - Fair Launch - Whitepaper RELEASE! on: July 13, 2014, 02:43:43 AM
Let me get this straight - all this FUD because an honest dev missed one footnote in a quick, early draft he wrote while tired (a pretty good whitepaper, I might add)? He even telegraphed in a preview, *before* he posted the whitepaper, that his new innovation would build on prior work, which is what all innovation does. He just forgot a footnote. This dev's good and honest, and this is the biggest buying opportunity I've seen in some time.

To FUDers in general, you only hurt yourselves and other altcoins. First, you make the coins you're defending look weak, unable to stand on their own merits. And you make the coins you're attacking look stronger and get even more attention. When other devs or advocates of other coins show up here to attack SHLD, while SHLD dev doesn't and simply focuses on developing his coin - what conclusion do you think I and others draw from that? It tells me which coin is fundamentally stronger, and which dev is fundamentally stronger. More importantly, you hurt the ecosystem and your long-term interests. Imagine how much harder it's going to be for the next innovative coin to find and keep traction - that includes the next one YOU develop and/or invest in. Revenge and Karma are bitches - and I assure you, you will recognise it when you see it.

To solid12345 in particular, Remember how DRK's trajectory significantly - and permanently - changed for the worse and XC's for the better when DRK devs started resorting to FUD tactics with XC on DRK's official twitter feed? I started dumping URO yesterday and have started doubling down on SHLD. Regardless of whether URO is good/bad, I prefer a friendly, easy-going, high-performing dev who respects investors in his coin and constantly invites their input and feedback like shieldcoindevs (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=353218;sa=showPosts) who, unlike true-asset, doesnt show utter contempt and hatred for his own community (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HsHF0C_gPck#t=578) - the very people who bought his coin - and demands community members who've been burned on other coins and who therefore have every right to be skeptical to behave like a cult and simply have "faith" in him. So to URO:

And to ShieldCoindevs, PM me for whatever help you need. I'm in touch with a top-notch Russian development team (PhDs/Masters guys, the whole lot of them) and can get you any and all assistance you need to massively accelerate development and maybe even expand the scope of your innovation and work. But it looks like you were already planning that and don't need the help.

The best response to this shameful FUD is to simply continue with your plans, double-down and excel. Resilience is the best revenge. Get your work done, send those screenshots you talked about and do your testing asap. Money follows potential, integrity and performance - and resilience. Just remember to get some rest and check your work. The community will support you.

Onward.

Thank you, really appreciate that support. I'll be in contact if I end up needing assistance. Onward!

Thanks Smiley

A little disappointed, but it was my mistake, and we can get back to better things now.

Ok to end this drama once and for all

I will apologize outright for not going to the dev directly, but I will still not apologize for the community who does tricks for anything Fontas tweets out yet gets out their pitch forks when 1 skeptic or negative opinion comes on. I'm glad the dev apologized that he should have been more diligent about naming where he lifted the material from.

But for the rest of you, if all it takes is 1 guy (Fontas) to pump up a coin and get you excited and 1 guy (me) to bring it all come crashing down, what does that say about YOU.

Btw I really wish I had that kind of pull but it was really CryptoCobain re-tweeting me that caused the drop.

wow +50% so easy
bye forever now idk why anyone would stay in a coin where the dev openly uses sock puppets

Yes this we still haven't gotten an explanation on.

A couple people were logging in with the dev account, helping to update the thread and keep active while I was away.

One forgot to switch over.

Solid12345:
Thank you for the apology, I know its upsetting seeing your favorite coin being passed by another. I just wish you had contacted me first, I've been working really hard and I was tempted to just give up, like people in here were joking about. I was advised that would be a poor choice, and I really enjoy this project. I'll be pushing forward and have more updates ASAP.

LOL.

Ok. So this is what I found:

It seems that the following text is the exact same in both the Shieldcoin paper and the RetroShare paper:

"The tunnelling service does not ensure the data integrity, nor its confidentiality. It’s the service’s responsibility to do that. We made that choice for robustness reasons, since tunnels can die unpredictably (e.g. when a peer in the middle disconnects).

File transfer, for instance manages multiple tunnels per hash, and asks chunks again if they cannot be obtained or got corrupted after the previous request."

This text appears just under the tunneling diagram that the Shieldcoin dev used in the section of his paper where he describes tunneling. The diagram also appears on the RetroShare document:

https://retroshareteam.wordpress.com/page/3/

As far as I can see, the rest of the Shieldcoin paper was very well paraphrased when others' ideas were used and it's obvious that the dev has put his own twist on these ideas.

In my opinion, it seems that perhaps the dev when constructing his paper thought that the tunneling diagram from RetroShare did a great job explaining tunneling, decided to use the diagram, and made the mistake of using the same paragraph of text associated with the diagram which explains what is going on in the diagram. Should he have paraphrased that paragraph? Probably.

Does that mean that Shieldcoin is a scam? NO. NO. NO.

Let's just cool it and hear what the dev has to say later when he awakes from his nap.

Yep thats what i found out about the devs my self.

Dev here

Sorry if this caused trouble for people's investments. I was on very little sleep and trying to finish a paper ASAP - a lot of the code and ideas is based on retroshare code, and I acted less than vigilantly and copied a bit more than I should have - I took the tunneling diagram and its caption because it was the same.

I just want to point out that days ago I did say I had been reaching out to another project, which was retroshare. I've based a lot of my work on their work, which I said also. Both are quoted by other members and not edited posts.

I'll be releasing most of this as open source once the project is very complete. Some parts are taken from existing projects, some are new - but I would like to release it all in the future (not just the open parts) if the community agrees.

The project is underway, regardless of FUD or not. Sorry about the diagrams, and thank you for researching your coins properly.
