1  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: April 03, 2023, 03:47:02 PM
Money and education which one of these is advisable to achieve?
They constantly say education is the key to success but in my country today many graduates don't have a job, and most of them are still fed by their parents, and that's not the way it's supposed to be.
And again they also said money is potency and fondness. Yes, money is power even if you are not a graduate or you haven't been to college before and you have the money you can even employ a graduate to work for you.
Presently now in my wonderful fatherland NIGERIA 🇳🇬 I can see the power of money.
Please any advice?

Money will give you most things that you may want while education (not necessarily in schools) will teach you things that you might need. Both have pros and cons. Money can take you wherever you want and give whatever you want/need but if you're not educating yourself on how to manage your money, it will be gone soon. Education can help you to achieve what you want to become but if you don't have money, it is also a problem because almost everything has a price. So, for me, learn to take money from others (legally) by educating yourself.

It's true, instead of looking at other's life event while they're on vacation, you can just start working, get some money, go to the gym, and make your life exciting. Time is passing by really quick. Even you're just checking your socmed for 10 minutes every hour, in a day you're spending 240 minutes. Value your time
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What would you do if your family spent more time on social media on: February 15, 2023, 04:50:42 PM
Now we generally see that communication and social interaction in the family is not as warm as it used to be. This is inseparable from the development of today's increasingly modern era.

The birth of various kinds of social media that provide various kinds of rides, so that some family members are too busy with their own world (media), and this is what I'm currently experiencing.

What should I do to overcome a situation like this.

As the other members are saying, it depends on what their age is, if they're under 15 years old, you can just set a timer to limit them from using past midnight. Or, you can make use of that, maybe playing minecraft with your children or whatever they're doing, to have time with them.

Imo, people cheat because of:
  • Treatment/attitude towards partner: If you're the type of person who has anger issue, always seeking for attention, abusive, etc. then there's a chance you'll get cheat on. People want peace in their life, you know
  • Overthinking: It's self-explanatory. Overthinking results to overreaction which will then result to accusation.
  • Money

I was listening to a YouTube video by a famous business man and he was saying that he prefers to hire employees who are smarter than him. Do you agree with this style of working? What are the possible intentions behind doing this? Isn't their fear that these smart employees can steal ideas from office or get client details and then start their own companies? What is your view regarding this?

Always remember that there's someone always intelligent than you. Being an employer doesn't mean you must know every single thing. Let your employees do their jobs even they're smarter than you with regards to that job. All you can do is to manage them

For some people that I know, it helps them a little in way of accomplishing tasks before the due makes them to think much faster. But, of course, it depends on the person. If you're studying for an exam, which needs a lot of focus and understanding, procrastination is a bad habit since needs to understand what you're studying instead of just memorizing it.

AI is growing really fast and i am feeling insecure regarding my job I am currently pursuing in Computer Science ? Had i done a mistake by taking CS ? Can i say Ai had ruined my job and career

As AI takes over most of the jobs, the maintenance of it and the continuous development still needs human interaction. So, you don't have to worry about losing a job because there will always be one, just never stop learning
8  Economy / Economics / Re: When your passive income equals or slightly above your salary, what would you do on: February 13, 2023, 04:36:00 PM

I have been in a job I detested and although I somehow managed to stay at it for up to 4 years, I didn't even for once let go of my passionate hobby and other passive streams of income I was interested in at the time.
Today, one of my passive interests pays more than my salary. My mind has been yearning for a resignation, but opinions of others and family bears the message of patience with the job I so much detest for reasons ranging from inflation to fear of the unknown.

If you were in my shoes, what would be the best advice you would give yourself and adhere to in this instance?

For me, it is either I keep holding onto that job or I'll find another job that I like. Though, my passive income pays slightly above my salary I'll still working for a job. It is safe to resign if you already have multiple sources of income, aside from your job, and those incomes double or triple your salary.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: February 13, 2023, 04:25:00 PM

To make a living, we must work. In uncertain days like now facing the global economic downturn, a stable job with high income becomes a scarcity. A side job or business seems like more necessary than ever, which can minimize the risks of losing your current job, ending up pennyless. However, a side job/business also takes time and efforts and can never be attained whenever we need it. What did you do or will you do in order to ensure your finanical stability despite all unfavorable circumstances ?

Obviously, side job also takes time and effort but since you want to be financially stable there's no other way. First thing I'll be doing is developing and adding skills and knowledge as much as possible. Then, I'll start freelancing, maybe as a technical writer or a web designer, depends on what skillset I've developed, so I don't put too much time on my side job since I have a main job. In addition, if you can't have additional source of income then lessen the amount you're spending.
10  Economy / Economics / Re: How to thrive with low income in a humble area on: February 13, 2023, 04:00:24 PM
One of the biggest difficults in life is to manage growing your patrimony and income, when earning minimum wage and living in poor areas where opportunities are scarce, as is the money circulating in the local economy. Some hints that could be useful:

Get rid of addictions/habits: addictions or habits (in mild cases) are harmful not only for your health, but also for your finances. Cigarettes and alcohol are responsible for consuming a large portion of the income from individuals living on minimum wage. It's not that unsual to find people spending at least 1$ on cigarettes daily, what after 1 month will result in 30$ expenses, which could be going into bitcoin investment, for an example.

Choose carefully where you go shopping: some supermarkets are more expensive than others. Shopping on physical stores is more expensive than shopping online. Don't go for the first price you see on the labels. Search for promotions, try to adequate your demand for products to your currently financial budget in a way you don't spend all your money in the end of the month.

The impression which matters is the one you have about yourself: forget about boasting yourself to friends and suitors around. Live a realistic life and don't pretend to have a superior lifestyle in order to make people's eyes shine in front of you. There is nothing wrong in displaying some style, it's actually pretty good and satisfactory, but only when we can really afford it.

Doesn't matter how depressing is your day, never give up: everyone has their depressing days, but these days can't become a rule in someone's life. Don't feel pitty of yourself, don't blame your life and your currently conditions. Think it's just temporary and that an exit from this situation is reachable with good will, effort, hard work and a positive attitude with people around you. Sometimes opportunities come from where you least expected, so be receptive to the society in general, while being careful with potential abusers of every kinds.

Step by step you are going to improve your financial status, be patient and determined. Good luck!

In addition, be with people/friends that are also thriving. Having people around you with the same mindset and determination might give motivation and discipline to do what you're suppose to do.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't imitate others; do what works for you. on: February 13, 2023, 02:12:48 PM
It is normal to feel good, motivated, and inspired when people share their success stories about what they did to achieve success, but what's bad is trying to imitate them because you think you can achieve quick success in the same way. Everybody has what they are good at and what works for them because they have devoted time and years to making themselves better and acquiring the best knowledge, skill, and profession that have made them excel at what they do.

It is good to be self-reliant, study yourself, know what you are good at, and improve yourself in that area. Everyone who is successful in business has sacrificed time and spent years building themselves and their businesses. Anyone who is successful in Bitcoin (crypto) has spent time learning, studying, and acquiring more knowledge about it. keeping themselves updated with revolutions and frequent adjustment to improve themselves and achieve success in Bitcoin investment.

I know of a successful pharmacist in my area who owns a big pharmacy. All of a sudden, he decided to go into politics and contest for a political position because of his friend, who was an ex-president that he could attain a lot of wealth when it was still his tenure. So unfortunate for the pharmacist; he used all his savings, mortgaged his shop, and used all the funds to run his campaign, but luck ran against him as he lost the election. After which, he started from scratch again.

The guy imitated his friend, thinking he could win and acquire more wealth than he had, but he was wrong. He was really doing well in his field; some of his other friends convinced him not to contest because he had no concrete knowledge about politics, but he refused to listen.

I think it's good to do what works best for you and not to imitate others. just my opinion, though.

I think imitating their methods, practices, and discipline in achieving their goals is fine. You should learn from their experiences and their mistakes then apply those things that you've learned to what you're trying to achieve. Starting from scratch trying to learn on your own is time-consuming, while you can just learn and develop from the experiences of the others
