1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Probably the noobest question! Hash rates on: July 15, 2014, 05:36:09 AM
Hi there,

I am new to these forums and probably coming up with the biggest noob question there is, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

How are these hash rates calculated, the reason I ask is products seem to all be advertised differently on their rates which is confusing me.

For example, I have just purchased and R-box Rockminer 32-37GH/S, CGminer states this with WU 490+- 10% and hashing at around 38ish GH/S, when I log into my mining pool it claims I am mining at av 12.8k Mhash/s, I don't understand how this computes. Also I see that Gawminer advertise products such as the black widow being 13MH+. Is this 13,000,000 hashes per second or am I wrong. How does this convert to say, the Rockminers advertised 32-37GH/S speed?

I understand this is a noob question, but was hoping someone could help clarify a few things as I am trying to work out a best hash per $, and either the Black widow seems like pretty good bang for buck, being a sup $500 product.

Thank you!
