It is better you use any exchange of your choice to pin or star the coins that you like, paired with USD. You can compare the coin pairs individually. What you do is to view more than 1 chart, like up to 4 at once on some exchanges which you can use to be viewing the price of 2 or more coins at a time. As for my preference, I prefer 1 chart. And this is used by traders instead of investors.
Viewing chart is easier for holders. Do not make things complicated for yourself.

If I understood you correctly, then CoinMarketCap should do what you're looking for. Let's say you want to compare BTC with ETH:
1. Go to Bitcoin's page: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/
2. Just above the chart, you will see a "compare with" text field, select Ethereum (or any other coin).
3. That's it. The chart should now show you both prices.
