1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / AIC: Artificial Intelligence Coin on: July 13, 2014, 07:09:36 PM
This is not an announce. This is an invitation to set up such a coin!!

Anyone with the skills and interest, please get in touch!

... more details ....

-----

I am thinking of starting an altcoin based on (and around) artificial intelligence, the singularity, our glorious post-scarcity future, etc.

I hope that I can find some people to help me with this, as I am not currently read up on the whole bitcoin.

I have done some research in this area before though, especially with regards to cryptostocks and coin-based crowdfunding.

Based on that, I would use concepts similar to Swarm, NXT, etc. Might even use their platforms..

I do not currently have the skills to set this up, but I could acquire them. However, I would prefer if some people who has already done this before would step and help me out with this!

I have an AI project, currently called AI Now (though I'm thinking of renaming it - to you may guess what).

It's struggling, and I'm exploring this as a way of procuring some amount of funding for it.

*I think* my AI approach is very interesting and incredibly advanced, and there is a good chance it will attract VC funding in the future.
There is an intro to read over here: AI Now 2016

While I am trying to raise funds for this project, I got the idea today that it might be cool to create a general pool for funding for AI and related technologies. This coin would be part or center of that effort.

There are a number of funds, state funds, and companies that might contribute to such an effort, if it had (and yielded) good publicity. I'm thinking of e.g. AI2 (a fund run by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft: http://allenai.org), IBM, Google, etc.

I also think that funds that support bio-medical research could be, conceivably, convinced to send some money in this direction, if (or, because) it can TODAY be shown to be a viable alternative towards reaching better treatment technologies and practices. (See the work on IBM's Watson in this regard: http://www.informationweek.com/healthcare/analytics/ibms-watson-takes-aim-at-cancer/d/d-id/1127797)

The great thing about bitcoin and related technologies are that they are global-first, and so we may be able to start a large global effort to drive funding into reaching the final missing piece that will put us all into the post-scarcity future of flying cars, free money, no hunger, no diseases, reversed aging, etc. etc.

This coin would function a bit like a stock, tracking the progress of these efforts.

I am among those who believe that BTC itself functions a bit like a stock, tracking the progress of the Bitcoin movement.

But even if you don't believe that, I think that it might make sense to you that a coin, investing in which actually has a positive effect on the movement which it tracks, can achieve greater heights than a coin that tracks nothing.

In the minds of the investors, I believe that the underlying must be something that has intrinsic value -- or something as close to it psychologically as possible.

[(I just came up with this today, and I did a Google search for possible competitors, and found "Singularity Coin"; but it does not have this positive effect on research or anything. I might call it a disconnected, or even a use-less coin. Without wanting to knock it! I like competition in a free market. (It also seems to be rather new.))]
