1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | High PoS | Secure | MultiSend | liteStake | Adv Coin Control on: July 29, 2015, 11:07:28 PM
I am thinking about filing away my recent suggestions, perhaps to be revisited in the future if needs be. I saw some support here, but most of the people I talked to on IRC and trollboxes love HYP exactly how it is. That is pretty awesome when you think about it. How many one year old + coins have people that love it exactly how it is? Not very many.

I do think that if a fork situation arises in the future that the max stake weight days should be raised, but this in itself is not worth the trouble of a fork.

I think the coin has been hugely successful for being an 'experimental' coin, however the changes proposed are interesting to say the least.

on the first point, I would agree with the general consensus on here that bloat isn't a huge issue for HYP

#2 - is a great idea and would as stated, allow smaller blocks to keep gaining some weight and having more chance to stake, but an extra 15 days seems like a good compromise for added time vs too much time

#3 - In the spirit of experiments, one of the core ideas behind HYP, this would be great to have implemented also and promote holding and staking.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | High PoS | Secure | MultiSend | liteStake | Adv Coin Control on: July 26, 2015, 07:21:08 PM
Hi everyone. I'm new to pos coins and especially to HYP.
Just bought some coins to try. I read wiki where they say to split blocks 1622.222222  - 5574.646811 . Then I split my block.
And i get this.

143.63 days? Is this real?

Probably not, but bigger blocks happen a lot faster. In my recent experience, anything under about 10K block size is going to take a while. Not 143 days, mind you, but a lot longer than ~10.

The "proper" block size has been THE raging debate with HYP since about an hour before it launched Tongue My opinion is 10K and faster compounding, but there are a number of strategies, and they all have valid reasons behind them. Maximizing your APR return calls for smaller blocks. Short term returns call for bigger blocks, but you WILL hit the cap. It's fun Cheesy

I got my blocks at 5-7k and they seem to do ok if I keep the wallet open 24/7. I do have a sneaky 2k block at 112.89 days waiting to pop though!

Excellent to see you talented people continuing the development on this coin and glad richie finally got round to adding it on trex

keep up the great work press & co Cheesy
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ASN] Ascension Final Takeover [Quibit] [POS] [NEW FEATURES AND REAL WORLD USE] on: April 21, 2015, 07:14:11 PM
looking for some help with the wallet crashing everytime i try and load it.

error looks like..

assertion failed!

Expression: pindex- >pprev ¦¦ pindex-> GetBlockHash() ==
(!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)

if i hit ignore it shows could not find blkindex.dat.

anyone have a bootstrap of the chain, assuming that is the file missing?

that means your copy of the blockchain is corrupt, back up your wallet and you need to go and delete the ascencion folder in app data and then try again Smiley hope this helps

worked perfectly, thanks!

What is the optimal size of a block to staking in 9 days?

completely depends on if diff keeps rising. I would be surprised if anyone is consistently staking anywhere close to 9 days. I have a range of blocks between 5k and 10k and the average stake time seems to be around 15-17days. There is the odd one that gets lucky and stakes around 10 days and a few that are just stuck like a block of 12k at 30+ days.

My wallet also stopped syncing

i created the conf file, added all the nodes nothing  changed. Because the graphics from the wallet sucks i can not see on what block he hangs. Only thing i know is that there are problems with the blockchain, nodes, conf or the wallet.

I think its not something what i did wrong because almost nobody can use the wallet.

Any helping info?

And it was a sort of my own problem..

Helping info for the people who still have sync problems:
-close your wallet
-Go to your roaming folder from ascension
-make a file named: ascension.conf -> add all the nodes what are posted in here
- delete everything in the roaming folder from ascension ONLY NOT: WALLET.DAT AND ASCENSION.CONF if you delete wallet.dat u lose all the coins!!!!!
-start wallet again, happy syncing.

Thanks, wallet synced no problem after following these steps

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Favorite altcoin exchange? on: January 09, 2015, 09:08:38 PM
poloniex is my favorite exchange, used it since i first got into crypto and only once had a problem which was resolved quickly.

only time i use other exchanges is for coins which are not listed on poloniex. Bittrex i feel hurt their rep with all the shit ICO/IPO listings just so they could make a buck on fees.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FIND] FindCoin | Community Anti-Scam Token | Faucet Distribution on: December 29, 2014, 01:32:09 AM
This hour's payout went out as planned. Last hour the faucet went down again  Angry. No one lost coins, we just delayed once more.

well it didn't go as planned as most wallets are reporting getting 0 active connections right before faucet payout just like what happened to me. why can't we seem to get some active nodes/peers together?

HyperStake Dice with Investment option has been added. https://luckyalt.com/hyperstake

Here are the details on how the investment option works. If you need more info feel free to hop in our chat on site and ask away, their are always a couple mods online to help.

Quote
When you invest you are helping fulfill the bankroll of the site.
Based on the % of bankroll that you fulfill you will be paid on all site earnings.
Your cut of the site earning is 90%.
Which means you will split 90% of all earnings between all the investors and yourself.
The amount you receive out of that 90% is based on the % of bankroll that you are fulfilling.
The more you invest the higher your % of the bankroll that you fill.

You can see what % of the bankroll you are fulfilling on the 'Invest' tab.
It is displayed as 'You are supplying 20%' or whatever % you are supplying.

If you have nothing invested it will display as you are supplying 0%.

Although we have a 2% house edge, and in the long run will earn a profit of 2% of the wagered amount, in the short to medium term we can still lose money. In times when we are lucky, we win many bets and earn a larger-than-expected profit, and in unlucky times we earn less than expected, and can even lose out. This is especially so if someone comes in and makes a large number of massive bets; we can either gain a lot or lose a lot. If you believe that the potential gains do not outweigh the potential losses, please do not invest.

I also setup another block explorer that is a little cleaner. It is indexing right now so give it a good hour before the Rich List is live. http://blocks.luckyalt.com:3006

nice work on adding HYP to the dice site. Been trying it out and invested 10k, sitting at profit = -14 just now, lets hope that gets to a plus soon lol.

Its actually pretty straight forward if you wanna do something simple as a custom background image.

http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/stylesheet-reference.html
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/stylesheet-examples.html

are good places to start and what I recommend is just taking a theme and start messing around with the qss file.

thanks for the links billo, let the tinkering begin!

I'd like to see some activity with user made themes.

I made this one more as a teaser for Bottlecaps [CAPs] to incorporate themes into its next wallet build but continue to use it for HYP.  (for the non-gamers, in the game Fallout the currency is CAPs)

I'm not very artistic so I'm sure many of you have made some far more excellent themes for HYP.  Lets see them!

awesome looking theme though!

Perhaps if someone could do a quick tutorial on which pieces of code you changed to tweak the template we could have a submission competition!

You are very late on this one.
I will direct some of my leased power to your pool anyway :-).

Thanks !

Better late than never ;-)

woohoo was waiting for a suprnova pool to pop up. Will rent some hash and point it over

Updated the source

Tab 1: full HYP, with graph
Tab 2: the important moments

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZOfnVBRhbOCUjyE3QJor8pV_5IPya-88yprJPGusBe4/edit#gid=1470732859

Could someone create a graph out of tab1? I cannot, it is painstakingly slow on my computer.

access has been requested to your google doc, seems like it is private at the moment.

I will see if i can make up a graph from all the data.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [FIND] FindYou Coin - Faucet Distribution on: December 14, 2014, 03:33:55 PM
1. I think we should start a new pure PoS coin with a maximum of 10M.
2. And exchange old coins in a ratio of 1:10. It will be 8M.
3. And I would advise to increase the percentage of annual PoS to 20%, so people will have the motivation to keep the coins in a wallet, rather than run into the exchange for the dump. So the rest 2M from 10M total will be distributed via PoS in 1 year.

P.S. I have not sold a single coin from the start. Who do not believe, I can provide my addy.

how exactly do you propose a maximum number of coins if its pure POS? where do you think the coins will come from to reward people for securing the network if there is a max amount of coins in a year?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Most Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 6 Themes on: December 03, 2014, 07:26:38 PM
Some questions:

1. My blocks are 2000 coins each. Coin control says est days to stake 33 days. Max coinage is 30 days. This way my coins will not stake at all. Am I wrong?

2. If I make my blocks bigger now, will that reset my coin age?

1. the est will be off a little and will go up and down as the network difficulty bounces around. also do they have weight on them or are the blocks under 8.8 days old still?

1a) if you go over 30 days you will still get the stake reward due to you as long as it is <= 1000HYP. after 30 days it just means your blocks will not build any further weight.

2. as mentioned this will reset the age on them

it's a little humorous when you have brainless in your username Tongue

I buy on a weekly basis, but point taken  Smiley

how about instead of pointing out what the market cap of HYP is and stating things look bleak, you post for the people what you have actively done to either develop the coin or promote it?

not sure what the fixation with market cap is anyway. could just as easily pull a fork to 10000% and mint another 50million coins in a couple months and the market cap goes up, does that somehow mean it transformed into a better coin? lol

it's all well and good to sit at your computer and complain about the current sidewards waves but as has been said you have three options, sell and move on or buy some more or start actively promoting the plus points of the coin rather than pointing out a low point in the price.

Coins have survived even when a Dev has gone AWOL (which I don't think he has), having said that it depends on community support to survive.

The Dev quite clearly stated his intended use for this coin so it's up to everybody to make his project a success.

Personally I'd be more than happy to use the coins I hold toward any bounty to hunt down the scammers and scumbags that lurk here trying to rip people off Smiley

+1

There's a problem with FIND price and dev's purpose - 1M FIND bounty worth only 0.15btc. With all FIND coins you can put up only 15 btc bounty - and it's a joke comparing to hundreds and thousands and hundreds of thousands bitcoins that scammers ripped off.

A) You need  demand for that to work and..
B) You need to prove it can work for the market to believe in it

I'm sure once a few successful low cost bounties are collected and confirmed legitimate the coin may have a chance, until then its pie in the sky until distro is over
