1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 23, 2017, 02:27:00 AM
Monero isn't doing too bad. It has outperformed Bitcoin by a factor of 2. The price doubled between 01/17 and 03/17 from about $10 to $20 and doubled again from 03/17 to 05/17 to nearly $40.

Maybe it's not a good idea to compare Monero's market cap to DASH or Bytecoin (which are its biggest rivals). A lot of DASH is locked up in masternodes and a lot of early mined BCN is probably not being traded on exchanges. The actual available coin supplies for DASH and BCN are probably much smaller than the circulating supply figure shown on CoinMarketCap.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a good idea to start a new Indian Altcoin? on: May 03, 2017, 02:26:22 AM
Country coins were a huge craze back in 2014 but I think the idea has died back down since then because as others have said, cryptocurrencies transcend national borders. Certainly some coins are more popular in certain countries more than others though.

I'd be surprised if an India-specific coin hasn't been created yet since it is the second most populous country after all. Heck, even us New Zealanders got our very own coin back then (Kiwicoin).

EDIT: I did a quick search and couldn't find an India-specific coin so if anyone does start an India-based altcoin then it would actually be the first of its kind. The name Indiacoin is available too although the ticker IDC is already taken (IND and INDIA are available).

poloniex wallet is offline?

Huh? I have 900,000 QORA on Poloniex. Looks fine from here.
the wallet is not forging since yesterday and no transactions after...i have pending withdrawal
http://qora.co.in/?q=QPVknSmwDryB98Hh8xB7E6U75dGFYwNkJ4

I wouldn't be too worried. It looks like all the funds are still in there so that's good to see.

Just went back on PD to see how the new site looks after not playing for many weeks. Disappointing to see that it still looks the same. Sad
8  Economy / Gambling / Re: dooglus lost 25 BTC on: August 10, 2014, 12:13:28 PM
I guess now is the time to start investing in Dicebitco.in then.

Not really... he could easily win that back.

Anyone know how much he won before loosing the 25 BTC?

22 BTC apparently. After today's loss, it seems that he is only slightly in the red:

Mine too. Smiley

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: August 08, 2014, 11:53:09 AM
How about an old Commodore 64 if I plug a 56kbps modem in?

Anyone got bitcoin core on cassette tape?

How long before I can mine 1 BTC?

It's not a Commodore 64 but someone did manage to find a way to mine with a NES from 1985:

http://www.retrominer.com/

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a hash rate figure. Modern smartphones are MUCH more powerful than anything from the 80's though. Seeing as though someone mined hundreds of bitcoins back in 2009 with a Pentium 4, it probably would have been profitable with today's prices to mine with a phone back then too.
12  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 08, 2014, 10:13:24 AM
10,000 posts on this topic. Considering that 80% of posts on here are by PD advertisers and an average of 0.0008 BTC per post that's about 7 BTC paid to simply advertise in a thread already solely promoting Primedice...

Could we please try refrain from too many messages on here Smiley With that being said I highly appreciate the individuals who post on here helping out new members of the campaign Smiley Keep that up!

Many sig campaigns specifically exclude posts made in the sig campaign thread from the total post count. Perhaps if you think it is getting out of hand, then it could always be an option.

But there's no real way to accurately deduct posts from here unless you used a bot or something. It would be difficult to personally keep a tally of how many posts you made in here and most people wouldn't bother.

Lol I suppose I'm a little weird like that but I actually keep a tally and write down every constructive post I make Cheesy
Otherwise I could unintentionally include a few posts that I myself would deem not very constructive. And I would hate to do that.
This is only my third term with PD but I've been paid as promised, every time, the least I can do is try my best to produce the expected result Smiley

That's one way to do it. There's no rule against having multiple accounts here so another possible way might be to have two accounts. One signed up with PD and only used for highly constructive posts and the other one which has no sig (or a referral link if you're desperate for BTC) and only used for moderately constructive posts such as this one.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: August 08, 2014, 09:46:31 AM
In time people will understand that Qora is far better than NXT.

Now is the chance for all to invest and support Qora.

I think of Qora as being similar to Nxt's Litecoin. If next gen coins like Nxt take off and features like asset exchanges become mainstream then Qora will ultimately be dragged along for the ride. The comparision is relevant because Litecoin actually had far greater gains percentage-wise than Bitcoin during the most recent spike. Qora is tiny relative to Nxt and a considerably riskier investment. And Nxt is even more tiny relative to Bitcoin but it is precisely because of this reason that there is also much bigger potential for growth. Smiley

Looks like the price recently skyrocketed. Currently trading at 23 sats on Bter and 22 on Poloniex.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many addresses do you think the average bitcoin user has? on: August 08, 2014, 09:01:00 AM
If you include all the addresses I had on various exchanges, I have probably used at least 250-300.

Well I didn't count my addresses on exchange sites because I don't consider them part of my wallet.

I suppose that's true since the address might be yours, but the wallet still belongs to the exchange. I would still technically consider them as my BTC addresses. Without them I would say I used roughly 100+ addresses.

You've got that right. It could be considered your address in exchange's wallet.

No matter how much security an exchange offers, it always makes me uneasy keeping my coins there for an extended period of time. Nothing beats having your own wallet.

I used to think that too. That is, until I entered the world of altcoin trading. Compared to setting up wallets, it is so much more convenient to just have the coins sitting there on an exchange. Especially if you are a speculator. I know it's not good security-wise, but I can understand why exchanges are such a popular place to store one's own coins.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: August 08, 2014, 08:56:23 AM
I think mining on a smartphone is possible but it definitely isn't profitable. I believe there was a news story a while back about Bitcoin-mining malware infecting smartphones. Even back then, it made no sense and so nobody could understand why anybody would even attempt such a thing.

Do a search for "smartphone mining malware" if you don't believe me. You'd be surprised.
17  Economy / Gambling / Re: DiceBet.Net | 1% Edge | Provably Fair | Fastest Bets In The Market |Free 0.0001 on: August 08, 2014, 08:48:47 AM
Site looks very similar to PrimeDice. Also judging by the posts here, it seems very buggy too.
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: DiceBitco.in | BE THE BANK ! | 1% House Edge | 1500+ BTC BANKROLL | INSTANT! on: August 08, 2014, 08:40:37 AM
So now that dooglus is recommending Dicebitco.in (both in his sig and by directly investing himself), it seems that this might become the ultimate successor to the great JD. Smiley
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Website to check coin value? on: August 08, 2014, 08:16:06 AM
As others have already said, try Coinmarketcap.com.

That is an awesome site which I check pretty regularly but... Isn't that only for Bitcoin though? It won't show the price of altcoins which I think is what OP is after.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people price things in fiat but want BTC - choose one or the other on: August 08, 2014, 08:12:43 AM
There are a couple of things that is priced as BTC and not fiat. For example, altcoins and cloud hashing contracts. That might give us some perspective of what a future BTC-denominated economy might look like.
