1  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing Bitcoins? on: November 23, 2015, 05:07:02 PM
There's already plenty of threads discussing this sort of stuff but the best investment in my opinion is to just buy and hold bitcoins themselves. Putting them in loans or start-ups or casino bank rolls is very risky and not worth the returns. I think most companies that want your bitcoins as an investment will more than likely turn out to be scams or fail at some point.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: November 09, 2015, 03:48:00 PM
I bought my very first coin off ebay and since made a bit from giveaways and signature campaigns. Might join another signature when I get a higher rank but you don't get much for lower ranked members.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: October 26, 2015, 04:24:41 PM
I guess you could say I am holding for a price increase but my goal has always been to hold long term as I think btc will take years to reach its potential. I wont just be selling as soon as it spikes though and would rather just spend my coins like they were cash rather than just cash out.
4  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-12] Why is Bitcoin Adoption Taking So Long? on: October 12, 2015, 03:29:11 PM
Bitcoin lacks a real world use case that cannot be realized by existing payment networks. There is no instance where Bitcoin is easier and more convenient to use than traditional remittance networks or fiat. Simply put, the world does not NEED bitcoin. The best we can hope for is a collapse of the world bank but until then credit cards and banking instruments remain easier safer and more convenient

It might not be easier and more convenient at the moment but it should be in the future. Why pay $50 dollars or some other extortionate fee to send money around the world when you can do it for little with bitcoin. You're also forgetting that some people in developing nations don't even have access or are allowed a bank account which bitcoin will solve.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin properties, which is the best? on: September 28, 2015, 08:29:26 AM
Decentralized and Pseudonymous are its best properties imo. Volatility isn't good for it as a currency but it's good for speculators and those trying to make a profit from it. I would prefer a slow and steady growth, however.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: September 28, 2015, 08:27:17 AM
I heard lending out bitcoin will make our bitcoin to grow in pace as well as securely. But, we need to verify the borrower more thoroughly before deciding a borrower. Getting a salary in bitcoin would be a more secure option :-)

lending out bitcoins to people isn't as interesting as it looks. especially when altcoins are being used to secure the loan. what if the altcoin price of the coin that is being used as collateral is dropping with 50% and the one that took the loan defaults. that means the potential profit is gone and you lose a part of your bitcoins too.
I have looked into BTC Jam and it seems even A+ verified members still don't pay you back. I don't know what to do at this point, there doesn't seem to be a clear way to make money off Bitcoin, specially in the loaning space. It seems like a big gamble, and I would rather go to the casino than go there and basically have them stealing my money without no consequences.

I also read few posts that A+ graded members also didn't payback the loan so it is not a safe place to lend coins to unknow person without any proper collatral. I would suggest don't ever try to lend any one without collatral. This will make sure at least our coins are safe but may not be growing. Sad

BTC Jam is just a breeding ground for scammers. Many will just build up confidence taking out smaller loans trying to get a good rating then as soon as they get a big amount they like they'll just scam.

8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Last Movie you watch ? ( Daily thread ) on: September 11, 2015, 06:08:40 PM
Shawshank Redemption for about the 10th time. Still a classic 10/10.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: Needed help about entrepreneur companies list on: September 11, 2015, 05:40:50 PM
What do you mean entrepreneur companies list? I think more info will be needed here.
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: August 23, 2015, 02:17:36 PM
woooo.... this is unbelieveble.
how they do that?
i not agree with this.
cause i dont like porn, i just want btc in the right way payment.

Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean others do. If bitcoin is to suceed as a currency people should be able to buy anything wit it. Bitcoin could really help people in the porn industry as well as consumers who dont want their name tied to purchases.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Advise me a cool movie on: August 23, 2015, 02:15:43 PM
There are plenty of threads on here recommending threads. Look through one of those. And what do you define as cool? The Gift and the new Mission Impossible are good thrillers. Cop Car and True Story are also decent.
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: August 17, 2015, 01:20:48 PM
I think its only a matter of time before the porno industry gets on board. Both customers and businesses can benefit from btc. Nobody really wants to put their real name to porn purchases and porn companies are often blocked by things like paypal and the ones that do work with them usually charge expensive fees so bitcoin is perfect.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Core developers: we want bigger blocks on: August 17, 2015, 01:18:09 PM
I don't want bigger blocks. The consensus does not want bigger blocks.

As block rewards drop to zero transaction fees will be the only thing left to pay miners to secure and run the network.
Increasing block size jeopardizes this important mechanism.

We'll all be dead long before this happens so not sure why it should concern us right now. Eventually the block size will have to be increased so why not now? I think the only question is how big should the size be.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you think bitcoin will be by 2020? on: August 13, 2015, 12:03:31 PM
I have absolutly no idea about all three, but I think that's the most exciting thing about bitcoin. It could be worth hundreds, thousands or even zero by 2020. I'm sure it'll be a wild ride of ups and downs for the foreseable future that's for sure.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin supply discussion/suggestion on: August 13, 2015, 11:59:14 AM
There is no issue at all with the number of coins in supply even if ones are lost. The fixed number of coins is partly what makes bitcoin fair for all. If you mess with that then it just becomes like fiat if you can add more into the supply.
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: This guy stole my bitcoin and twittered about it, what can i do ? on: August 03, 2015, 10:26:52 AM
I know it's a troll post but what can you do? Nothing. I think it was dannyhamilton who once said the only options are 'Getting angry and crying'  Cheesy.
17  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-03]Mark Karpeles Admits to Tweaking Mt. Gox User Balances For Millions on: August 03, 2015, 10:24:06 AM
Tweaking? What the hell does that mean? Is that a polite way of saying whoops I fucked up? I hope the missing coins get found on him somehow and those who lost a lot of money get it back.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anonymity for sending Bitcoin on: July 19, 2015, 01:46:57 PM
2. I do not want my real name, address, email or phone number known to anyone (recipient and the public).
I am fine with anyone knowing the amount of the transaction.

Unless you send them this info then they should never be able to get this unless that address is tied to you online somewhere. Many details can be found about a person just by googling that address so you need to be careful where you post it.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Question on: July 05, 2015, 04:43:54 PM
I'm still very confused about Bitcoin. Now, I opened a wallet from blockchain, ok? And you know, I have the identifier, pass, mnemonic info and etc...

Do I need to something extra? I mean, isn't this enough? Why people are using other wallets?

You should absolutely set up 2-factor if you're using an online wallet, preferably to your cell phone. Make sure to safely back up your wallet regularly too but don't forget the mnemonic or make sure you've written it down properly in the first place.
20  Other / Off-topic / Re: Beauty Of Iran on: July 05, 2015, 04:33:37 PM
It does look very nice. There are actually quite a lot of beautiful places in the Middle East even in places like Iraq and Afghanistan but people in the west just view them as countries in ruin as they go by what they see in the mainstream media.
