Hello Community,

It's great that the thread is getting active. I had written an earlier post on how certain circumstances could not push the development of this project.
We envisioned some of the smartest protocols such as SFRDirect which was supposed to help create smart tokens easily before the launch of turing complete blockchains. We had also proposed the biggest feature of all- ORION (Interoperability of Blockchains). This is the biggest trend in crypto today. We were years ahead in our technological vision for the industry.

The good news is that Saffroncoin is in the process of pursuing its earlier vision. The "coin" is dropped and the project is rebranded as "Saffron".

Giving a gist of the platform, it will be a smart blockchain, focused only on payments and decentralised exchanges of tokens using our underlying technology - Orion which will be built using Cosmos.

Someone pointed out that we have newly registered this company. That's true. We are in the process of securing a strong development team and funding.

In short, Saffron will be the "Consensys" for all payment-related applications.

We are working out on a mechanism on how to swap the existing Saffroncoins to the new Saffron tokens.

There is no ICO bullshit but we might end up doing an IEO(maybe).

We hope once Indian regulations come by, Saffron will be the primary crypto for payments in India and neighbouring countries.

One thing to note, Saffron in no way will compete with other cryptos to become the next bitcoin or ethereum. That kind of language will not be spoken by our team. We believe there is enough space in the ecosystem for innovation and we provide a niche solution to a specific problem.

Token of appreciation to those that stuck around, exciting times ahead.

I'll be keeping you all updated.

Cheers

Given the lack of further updates, and your new GoSats project, I'm guess this has now been shelved?

All the best with your new GoSats venture Smiley

We kept this coin alive so many years. Couldn't just keep it up for this past 6 months could we? We could be pumping right now for sure in these crazy times.... If only we had survived a little longer.

Ah well can't win them all. Good luck trying to get it back up. I am long term travelling the world at the moment and don't have access to my computer or I'd start mining this again if there is actual development happening.

Thanks g1itch for the extra pools, I stopped researching new ones and just started removing the ones that were dead from my year old list of pools. I will include them next time.

The continuously moving date of removal from Bittrex is the same thing that happened throughout the whole of 2015 too, always empty threats, never gets removed, the removal date just keeps changing. The only time it ever got removed, Rosh appeared from nowhere and had it put back again within a day back in 2015 when we were in this same situation. He seems to have a relation with someone at Bittrex, as mentioned a few times, SFR is one of the few coins which are "verified" status at Bittrex, showing a good relationship at at least some point in time.

This is nothing new basically, but the price collapsed accordingly nonetheless.

SFR Update
Updated: 09 September 2016

SFR the coin which just won't die for some reason. It's been 5 months since my last update, nothings happened at all, all but 1 remaining Blake pool has been taken offline, but the coin still works for some reason! Amazing.

Anyway, here we go with the latest update...

SFR Healthcheck

Algorithms and pools
Sha Healthy-ish.. Regularly generates blocks, however the last pool is now gone so it's solo mine only.
No Sha pools avaliable
Blake Healthy-ish.. Regularly generates blocks, still has a pool!
Pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin
Groestl Not healthy. No one is mining, last working pool is now gone. Rarely mined, but diff is low.
No groestl pools avaliable
x11 Not healthy. Blocks are not being found due to high difficulty.
No X11 pools available
Scrypt Not healthy. Blocks are not being found due to high difficulty.
No Script pools avaliable

The great strength of multi-algo coins is that they are not dependent on only 1 hashing method. For instance, although 3 algorithms are in poor health and not mined, 2 have been in continuous good ok health since the coin was launched, meaning blocks still generate, the blockchain keeps moving, and transactions get processed. Multi-algo coins are extremely resilient and have always been under appreciated. Saffroncoin is probably the best one out there, despite the lack of progress from the dev in recent months years and a low price, it is still fundamentally a solid coin, designed by a skilled developer, and therefore doesn't die when it should have long ago.

SFR Update Special Block 603,784 Edition
SFR not dead yet block reward reduction special edition!

Updated: 06 April 2016

Here is my regular update post about the status of SFR, special edition for the block reward reduction! As of block 603,784 (just now) the block reward has changed from 21 SFR per block to 17 SFR per block. The first reward reduction in almost a year! Additionally, watching Bittrex, accumulation continues on SFR, with most large sell orders below 200sat being snatched up. Quite the change in fortunes since the price was hovering around 70sat just a month or two ago.

Anyway, here we go with the latest update...

At block 603,784 the reward is going to decrease to 17 SFR a block. We are on block 601,733, so it will be sometime in the next few days. The price has increased recently enough to offset the reward change, so it should have no effect on our dedicated miners, still hasing away after all this time.

SFR... not dead yet.

someone just bought a wall of 1M SFR at Bittrex

02/24/2016 10:48:21 AM   BUY 0.00000248   1000000.00000000   2.48000000

a big prospector.

He is now no.3 on the Richlist.  https://bchain.info/SFR/rich/

He bought it within minutes of it being posted. There hasn't really been that amount of SFR avaliable to buy for many months, so naturally it was snapped up very quickly. Despite the low price, there was actually very little on the sell side for a long time now. He obviously pushed the price up a little to get a bagholder to come out the woodwork and it seems it was effective.

Someone has started buying up the book on SFR.

Don't know if someone knows something we don't, but I guess there have been whispers that an update from the dev is coming, so maybe the update is now due. The price has gone up 300%, but in fairness, it was so low to begin with, it didn't take much.

Will be interesting to see what happens next, someone is clearly accumulating, but it's not a big gamble since it's so cheap.

We have a block reward reduction coming up around the 16th of March to 17 SFR a block instead of the current 21 SFR. I have updated my information post further up the page with the latest stats.

I once again ask the coin developer, who has recently posted in the thread, to update and tidy up the original post on the first page. If you're reading, please clean up all the dead links and old information  Smiley

Wow community and coin is still alive. That's huge and interesting.
Maybe pretty small community now, but a few people have stuck around. The coin is amazingly still being mined, and the blockchain working great, despite the minuscule price, market cap is only about 24btc at 100sat. The fact the coin still even works with so little interest really is a testament to the resilience provided by a multialgo coin.

Seems to have become an enthusiast coin for a few people rather than a get rich quick scheme like most other alts which is nice. Multi-algo is still a mostly unexplored area of Crypto, and SFR had a pretty good go at making it work, and chose a pretty solid set of 5 algorithms.

I've been trying to help get more people into mining with my update posts, and hope the dev can finally deliver some long overdue updates which have been promised =)

I have compiled some reward schedule information, and added it in to my post for those interested, since that a detailed block reward schedule is missing from the OP.

The block reward will reduce from 21 SFR to 17 SFR in just under 2 months time. See my post above for full reward schedule.

SFR Informational Post
Updated: 19 November 2015

With some more activity in this thread, and the coin added back to Bittex, it's time for an update again. This is an ongoing post I have been making to fill in the blanks from the first post by the dev, as it is a mess of dead links, and bad pools.

SFR Healthcheck

Sha - Healthy. Regularly generates blocks as per coin specs. A pool can be found here: http://ispace.co.uk/coindetails/?coin=sfr
Blake - Healthy. Regularly generates blocks as per coin specs. A pool can be found here: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin
Groestl - Healthy. Regularly generates blocks as per coin specs. A pool can be found here: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin-groestl
Scrypt - Not healthy. Blocks are not being found due to high difficulty. A pool can be found here: http://p2pool.e-pool.net:8967/static/
x11 - Not healthy. Blocks are not being found due to high difficulty. No X11 pools available for some time now.

The great strength of multi-algo coins, is that that despite 2 algorithms being in poor health, 3 have been in continuous good health since the coin was launched, meaning blocks still generate, the block chain keeps moving, and transactions get processed. Multi-algo coins have always been under appreciated, and Saffroncoin is probably the best one out there, despite the lack of progress from the dev in recent months and a low price, it is still fundamentally a solid, well developed coin.

Members of the community are still running nodes, we are still mining the coin, and some people are even still buying. Pretty much everything this coin needs to do to survive, someone who posts in this thread has it covered. It's amazing to see so much support of this coin still about. Thanks to everyone who keeps this thing afloat. Shout out to Kid Brook especially for keeping so many working nodes up and running.

Mining Rewards

The current block reward is 21 SFR. Each algo is targeted to generate a block every 450 seconds. Each algo therefore can produce 4032 coins per day, for 20160 total new coins a day across all 5 algos. The actual amount of new coins a day is less than this, as X11 and Scrypt is not being mined. The true number of new coins a day is about 12k a day as things stand.

Nodes

If you are having trouble getting your wallet to sync, you can use the following nodes:
addnode=23.229.124.34:19717
addnode=23.95.112.227:19717

Hello!
I've tried solo-mining saffron with groestl algo (myriad-groestl), but all blocks are rejected! Why?
Are you sure you are using the correct mining software? Are you using SGminer? Groestl is being successfully mined here: http://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin-groestl, additionally there are other solo miners finding blocks. Check your set up.

First priority for me is to get the house back in order.

-Get all the existing wallet features working again. Lots of the data displays are broken. Links are broken.
-Rework the first post in this ANN thread. It is out of date, with lots of old information and broken links.
-Rework the website, the explorer doesn't work meaning the website has dead links.

I would say this tidy up work won't take long, and is priority over new features. The wallet can wait if you intend to redesign it from scratch, but at least fix up the information in the OP and on the website. Going to be difficult to get new users to pay attention to the coin, and post in this thread when everything is a mess.

All the best =D

I will also be redesigning the wallet and get back SFR in the news.
Looking forward to wallet redesign. Back in the day the multifunctional wallet was great, probably one of the better wallets seen in Crypto, but a few of the features are broken now, and it looks a mess. It's a shame to see what once was great now going to waste.

Wow..nice support is building. We are going to climb the coinmarketcap ladder very soon.Enjoy the party. Smiley
Thanks for your support, but probably best to focus on the features of the coin rather than price right now.

Seems like the delisting at Bittrex has had little effect, all the action has moved to Cryptsy with a small bump up in price. Guess the price is already pretty much rock bottom at 200sat! No more damage can be done at this point. I updated my information post above as well for anyone new coming into the thread.

SFR Informational Post
Updated: 3 October 2015

I decided to compile some information, most notably, a list of pools still in operation for the 5 algorithms, and on the correct blockchain, as the OP is a mess of dead links, and bad pools. Overall mining is much more healthy than since my first post, with 4/5 algorithms now generating blocks inline with the coins specifications. Therefore I will continue to update this post in order to further encourage mining.

SFR Healthcheck

Groestl, Sha and Blake are regularly generating blocks as intended and in good health as they have active regular miners.

Scrypt has a working pool, and sometimes people solo mine it, but as of late it is struggling to find blocks as the difficulty was pushed up quite high.

x11 has serious problems as it has no dedicated working pool, no regular miners and is attached to a powerful multipool. The multipool drives the difficulty up sky high, and then they abandon mining once it becomes unprofitable. Therefore X11 hardly ever generates a block unless someone decides to solomine it at a severe loss. If difficulty comes down due to solomining, the multipool pushes it up again, making it rather futile to try and mine.

The great strength of multi-algo coins, is that that despite 1 algorithm being in poor health, 4 have been in continuous good health for some months now, meaning the coin still functions perfectly, and blocks are generated regularly. At all times in the coins history, at least 2 algorithms have been working, meaning blocks still generate and the block chain keeps moving.

Working Pools

X11
No known pools!
Please see problem described above in the healthcheck section before attempting to solo mine this coin, so you understand the problem. If you spend some time bringing the difficulty down, you will be very disappointed when you see it pushed straight back up again. Ideally if you want to help here we need an X11 dedicated pool set up.

SCRYPT
Inactive pool: http://p2pool.e-pool.net:8967/static/
This new P2pool opened on the 14th August 2015, but has not really been used. Scrypt can also be solomined with the right hardware at the moment. The difficulty is currently quite high but will hopefully come back down in the coming days.

GROESTL
Inactive pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin-groestl
No one uses the Groestl pool very often, but it is working with only a small fee if you want to use it. The difficulty is low, and the algo is being supported by solo miners even though the pool is mostly unused.

SHA-256D
Active pool: http://ispace.co.uk/coindetails/?coin=sfr
One working pool with active miners, also competing with solo miners. Probably the most competitive algorithm to mine at present, several miners.

BLAKE256
Active pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin
This pool finds all the Blake blocks at the moment, and is very active. Probably the easiest way to earn some small amount of SFR if you have a low power home PC type setup/rig, that isn't suitable for other types of mining. Despite having regular miners, none of them have a particularly high hashrate, so plenty of coins to share with mid to high range graphics cards.

Mining Rewards

The current block reward is 21 SFR. Each algo is targeted to generate a block every 450 seconds. Each algo therefore can produce 4032 coins per day, for 20160 total new coins a day across all 5 algos. The actual amount of new coins a day is less than this, as X11 is not being mined. The true number of new coins a day is about 16k a day.

No known pools!
Please see problem described above before attempting to solo mine this coin, or create a new dedicated pool to help solve the problem!

SCRYPT
New pool: http://p2pool.e-pool.net:8967/static/
The last Scrypt pool for SFR shut down on the 28th of July 2015. A new P2pool has just opened on the 14th August 2015, however one forum poster has reported problems using it. Algo is low difficulty, and can be easily solo mined.

GROESTL
Inactive pool: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/pools/saffroncoin-groestl
No one uses the Groestl pool very often, but it is working if you want to give it a go. The difficulty is low, and the algo is being supported by solo miners even when the pool is dead.

Bittrex frequently threatens that the coin is "in danger" that it "may" delist. However, everytime the "may delist" date arrives, the messsage disappears and the coin is not delisted. It seems that the "in danger" warning is automatically generated, whereas the actual coin delisting is not automatic. SFR seems to be protected for some reason, maybe because of its status as a verified coin, or some other reason.

The problem with X11 is that it is attached to a powerful multipool. They drive the difficulty up sky high, and then abandon mining once it becomes unprofitable. Then it is left for someone else to mine at a severe loss to bring the diff back down again, at which point they push it right back up again.

Current Saffron community is not large enough to mine it at the kind of level required to combat the X11 multipool, so it is kind of doomed to being stuck at a high difficulty. Only more interest in the coin or a higher price can get X11 algo mining again. A pool being set up would be a step in the right direction as none exist.

In other good news though, all 4 other algorithms are in good health and regularly generating blocks for some time now, it seems my post advertising the working pools from May really helped boost their numbers.

You can see a breakdown of the % of blocks which go to each of the 4 algos for the past 500 blocks here: https://www.miners-pool.eu/#!/mining-breakdown/SFR It is pretty even, about 25% for each of the 4 working algos.
