1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Another method apart from bitcoin public PRC getnewaddress. on: May 07, 2024, 10:02:14 PM
Good day to you all.

I was on a serious project within the week for which I needed a wallet, so I was trying to create a wallet  and secret from the Bitcoin public RPC endpoint (getBlock.io). and it seems like using this method, getnewaddress, somehow is not allowed, which means I need to create the wallet, but now I am confused, which is why I came to the right place to get my answers.

So, is there any node method available that I can use to generate wallets? Also, if anything specific to Ruby is possible,.
Any help is highly appreciated and welcomed. thanks
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Which part of bitcoin is sitting or moving on: January 11, 2024, 08:23:39 AM
I anticipate that I'm not the only one seeking to learn more about how bitcoin moves, especially with bitcoin ETFs on the horizon. I'm curious if anyone knows which portion of the bitcoin market shifted recently. It could also be simpler to identify the portion of bitcoins that remained static.
Not a single movement
Assume a wallet that has just recently held one bitcoin and has no incoming or outgoing transactions. Then there would undoubtedly be one bitcoin that remained in place.

Potential motion
Let's say there is a wallet with 10 bitcoin in it right now. Three [Suspicious link removed]ived in a transaction that happened earlier. I wouldn't mind if we just mentioned that the bitcoin in this wallet moved (thus 0 did not move). You could argue that there are seven bitcoin that did not move, but it would be hard to generalise when many transactions occur.
Thus, the query
How much has bitcoin moved or not moved during the last 12 months or just one day?
My current thoughts are that this should be ascertained using the blockchain's information. Anything off-chain would, of course, be ignored, but that's okay.
I discovered the quantity of bitcoin that is presently in use as well as the volume of transactions throughout a 24-hour period. However, I think that numerous transactions of the same coin (back and forth or a > b > c) would account for a sizable portion of transaction traffic.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Today is the full eleven-year anniversary of the initial block reward halving. on: November 28, 2023, 05:06:33 PM
Today is the full eleven-year anniversary of the initial block reward halving in bitcoin. The most of us are aware of this, but I wanted to draw newcomers' attention to it, particularly those who have no prior knowledge of bitcoin. For those who are unaware, I will provide a succinct and basic overview of the history of the bitcoin block reward halving below.

A TINY CHAPTER OF BITCOIN HISTORY
The halving of the block reward for Bitcoin is, as everyone knows, one of the most significant moments in its history. The practise of cutting the block rewards that miners receive for effectively mining each block in half, or halving, is known as halving.

Every 210,000 blocks, or roughly every 4 years, block rewards are halved. At block 210,000 on November 28, 2012, the block reward was halved for the first time, going from 50 to 25 BTC per block. which was exactly 11 years ago now. I brought it here to celebrate and educate others, for that reason. Despite the fact that the history is brief, there have only been two (2) bitcoin halvings to date: in July 2016 and May 2020. Furthermore, we anticipate that the fourth halving will occur in May 2024.

I merely put this up for celebration and education's sake. Since nobody is flawless, I accept any forms of corrections if I make any mistakes.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is it possible to mine bitcoin with my laptop? on: November 23, 2023, 06:15:42 PM
Though I've been considering it for a while, I've just now made the decision to bring it up in this thread to get additional explanation. Using a laptop, I would like to mine bitcoins. Not just for the sake of making money, the goal is to understand how mining operates without having to buy electricity or an ASIC. I considered purchasing a used ASIC for a low price, but I'm afraid I'll end up with a defective one. An ASIC will probably be too noisy for me to use at home, where I will be mining. After doing some study, I was also considering trying to use the waste heat to offset my house heating, but it just seems too costly and dangerous for what will likely be an essential learning experience.

So, can I mine bitcoin on a laptop? is my query. I just want to know how it all works; I'm not concerned about making money. With almost no chance of winning the block reward, might I download the bitcoin core, operate a full node, and let it hash away, content with the knowledge I've gathered along the way?
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / How can I use multisig future in my new bitcoin online exchange on: November 15, 2023, 09:01:47 PM
I created a tiny Bitcoin Core-based online exchange. This programme has the following features:

1. A new address with a specified password is generated by Bitcoin Core upon receipt of a request from the user.
2. The user's address can be used to receive Bitcoin.
3. The user can send Bitcoin from your own address; to do this, I've unlocked my account using wallet Passphrase and utilized send to address.

In this such situation, all accounts can be unlocked with a single, complex passphrase. But after studying about the multisig feature, I considered including a scenario in my programme that would address this. However, I have a few queries in mind:

1. When sending transactions, I included a set passphrase in my codes. In terms of multisig principles, I can't unlock that account with a passphrase; but, I need to sign data using distinct private keys. Am I correct?
2. Since an exchange should operate automatically, I believe the last step of my codes must use all necessary private keys. Given that everything is close to one another in this instance, I don't believe I added any more security measures to my project. Can I get any information on the security that will be of great use to include multisig accounts in my project?
I'm hoping you can assist me in mentally resolving these problems.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How do ledger wallet keys operate? on: November 05, 2023, 11:32:30 PM
I've downloaded, assembled, and set up bitcoin-cli from github with success.

I can use the send toaddress and get new address methods to send and receive bitcoins.

Without installing any third-party software which I don't completely trust it functions well, and I'm glad about that.

However, I have a problem: I have to download the entire blockchain files to my PC using Bitcoind.

Is it possible to use the send  toaddress and  get new address functions on my PC only if I have the wallet.dat file? I'm not interested in downloading the entire blockchain files. Can it be done?

How do ledger wallet keys operate? The blockchain is not replicated in this little key. And it functions!

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Lost my coins on: November 02, 2023, 11:48:36 PM

Hi, Salutations, Here, I'm new. Actually, I was searching for answers after making some really terrible mistakes. A friend told me about this website, where I could find all the answers, and I came here to look for them.
In reality, I wanted to mix my wallet's bitcoin with the bitcoin on Coinbase. I believe I made a mistake. Although I can't recall every step, I believe there was a purpose I went on "swap." I mistook the money I was sending to my wallet from Coinbase. However, bitcoin never made it there. It is finished, and I received numerous confirmations. However, I was curious about its whereabouts. I guess I sent it to someone and it’s lost. Sad,  but okay, I just want to confirm there is nothing I can do! I will be glad to have solutions or advice.
