Our vision for Pepecoin is to create a cryptocurrency suitable for making payments online and then unite all Pepe cryptocurrency communities into one massive community for Pepe. Our plan to do this was to make a simple blockchain, fairly launch it, and then focus on the people. For this reason, we set up tip bots for Reddit and Discord and have focused on making our discord and subreddit a fun place to hang out. In 6 months, we have nearly surpassed the number of holders for the original Pepecoin from 2016.

Our market cap is small, yet r/Pepecoin is the largest Pepe cryptocurrency community on Reddit with over 6,000 members.

The project has somewhat outgrown the team and we need help.

We are looking for volunteers.

- Community manager(s) to do community events, charity drives, contests, etc. to make r/Pepecoin a fun place to be
- An experienced social media manager to make posts on our official accounts (Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok)
- A listing manager who can speak on behalf of the team to coordinate and negotiate new exchange listings
- Additional core developers for Pepecoin
- Community members who can provide financial assistance for exchange listings, wallet listings, etc.

The community just raised $5,000 to be listed on CoinMarketCap. The Pepecoin community is incredible, but since we did a fair launch the team's resources are limited and we are reaching out to the larger cryptocurrency community for anyone who wants to help.

Pepecoin is truly a grassroots movement. We want to do things like print out business cards and hand them out to people, rent billboards to advertise the subreddit, and open a merch store for the community to buy shirts, hats, mugs, etc. I started mining Dogecoin in December 2013 and our goal is to create something similar for Pepecoin. Pepecoin 1.0.1 was released a few days ago. This new release activates AuxPow at block 42,000. The hard fork was successful today and Pepecoin is now merge minable with Litecoin and Dogecoin! You can download Pepecoin Core 1.0.1 at Pepecoin.org

PepeGuild has always been intended to be a "bootstrap" pool to get Pepecoin off the ground and give other pools a chance to add Pepecoin. With this new hard fork and because PepeGuild has a very small share of the network hashrate, we have shut PepeGuild down. All pending blocks were paid out to miners. PepeGuild didn't support AuxPow, but we may decide to upgrade and reopen it in the future.

Your data directory is corrupted. Most importantly, back up your wallet.dat file.

You likely picked the same data directory for 2 different cryptocurrencies. https://youtu.be/KFYZfn8-CHg?t=68 the timestamp for this video shows the data directory setup. When you set it up for the first time, you likely picked a custom data directory. You will need to go into that folder and delete the "blocks", "chainstate", and "database" folders.

After you do that, Pepecoin Core should start. Then go into Settings -> Options -> and click "Reset Options". This will reset your data directory. Restart Pepecoin Core and then do not pick a custom data directory. Just leave it as the default.

You cannot choose the same data directory for 2 different cryptocurrencies.

Despite the name, PepePow is not a proof of work coin, since it uses proof of stake and gives 35% of all of its block rewards to stakers. Pepecoin is and will always be a pure PoW coin. There will never be a compromise on this. Also, Pepecoin uses the scrypt algorithm with support for merged mining (which activates at block 100,000). This means Pepecoin will take advantage of the nearly 1PH/s of hashrate securing the Litecoin and Dogecoin networks. When someone mines Litecoin or Dogecoin, they will also be mining Pepecoin. This will ensure that Pepecoin's network is secure forever.

"What is Pepecoin?"

Pepecoin is a layer 1 cryptocurrency. It is its own independent blockchain. Pepecoin was created from Dogecoin. Dogecoin was chosen for a few reasons.

1. It is under active development.
2. It has merged mining support. This will allow the Pepecoin network to take advantage of the 800TH/s securing the Litecoin and Dogecoin networks.
3. We wanted to bring the Dogecoin and Pepecoin communities together, and what better way to do this than by making Pepecoin from Dogecoin. We welcome all shibes to join the community!

"Why was Pepecoin created?"

This year the crypto market has shown a strong desire for a Pepe themed cryptocurrency. Many ERC-20 tokens were made this year in an attempt to give the people Pepecoin. However, ERC-20 tokens can never truly create a free and open Pepe cryptocurrency. ERC-20 tokens use smart contracts, which introduce trust back into the decentralization of crypto.

The creators of Pepe-ERC20 infamously blacklisted an investor's wallet worth over 8 million at the peak of its value. Additionally, they dumped trillions of coins (of which, at the time of creation, they minted for themselves) causing a market crash.

From Ethereum dependence, to high fees, to blacklisting, to minting, to liquidity pools, ERC20 tokens give coin creators too much power over investors. When the Pepe-ERC20 creators dumped their dev tokens causing a crash, that was the last straw.

We began building a Pepecoin for the people, free from smart-contracts and centralized authority.

Inflation Rate

Pepecoin has the same emission rate as Dogecoin, which means it's inflationary and encourages usage. Over time, Pepecoin's inflation rate will gradually decrease in terms of its percentage of the total supply. After the 600,000th block is mined, about 5.256 billion coins will be added each year, but as the total supply grows, this fixed annual addition represents a smaller percentage of the total supply each year, thereby reducing its inflationary impact.

Deterministic Signed Binaries

Since there are concerns of malware, trojans, etc. on Bitcoin Talk, we thought we would mention this.

Just as is done during the Dogecoin release process, the binaries for Pepecoin Core are built deterministically using the Gitian Builder.
These binaries are then signed and the signatures are uploaded to the gitian-sigs repo located here. You are welcome and encouraged to

Tip.cc has support for a crypto faucet. We will periodically fill this faucet up with some coins for you to get started with. Alternatively, if you join the official discord server we will periodically be giving away free Pepecoin to every single person in the server using tip.cc's rain feature. We are doing this to get as many people started as possible to increase adoption. We encourage you to tip Pepecoin to your friends as well!

PRC-20

Pepecoin supports inscriptions/ordinals. This means tokens and NFTs can be minted on the Pepecoin blockchain. It's only fitting that all Rare Pepe imaginable can have a home here on the Pepecoin blockchain. It will be up to the ordinals community to build this.

We are seeking an exchange listing. We would like the ticker symbol PEPE. This is the ticker symbol used in Pepecoin Core, the official Pepecoin tip bot, and will be used colloquially by the community.
