1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: a platform for social media trafices that pay by BTC on: June 02, 2024, 05:35:14 PM
These must have been only profitable cause Bitcoin rose significantly in value  so the insignificant amounts that were gotten rose and became very significant. If you take out the ridiculous appreciation of bitcoin it would not be useful to those irrespective of country.

If you really want to build this you should go on LinkedIn, search for developers and explain what you want done to them. I am sure you will get one that can create what you are suggesing.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where did the 12,400 BTC that was moved from Mt. Gox actually go? on: May 28, 2024, 07:38:30 AM
Payout to Creditors
How long have we been hearing this for? Since 2019 there is always speculation on preparation to payout the creditors who were hit by the hack, this is rumoured every year but never happens. I will not give any benefit of doubt until they actually start making the payments.

As for the other options, they cannot possibly be trying to manipulate the market with other people's money and who would spend such an amount on security, is that coming out of the pockets of the victims of the hack?
They can just disburse the recovered money and not have that problem to worry about.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If this is doable what will you add or remove? on: May 21, 2024, 12:29:32 PM
I will add a demo system where users can run a node and play. This will be purely for educational purposes so those who for any reason cannot run a node will be able to learn how it works without having to download the entire chain. This will bring bitcoin closer to home and show people that it is not too complicated or at least all of it is not.
The goal will be to encourage more users to take the step and run their own nodes, contributing to how decentralized the network is.

That is what I will do on the side, as the main course, I will create a fully decentralized system that is as immune to regulation as bitcoin is. This will replace other services that are being dominated by centralization like exchanges and mixers. This makes it much easier to stay private and not have to choose between decentralization and efficient service.

I know this is not adding anything to Bitcoin directly, but that is because there is mighty little one can add, all we are left with is to create efficient, censorship resistant channels and we are not doing so well now.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a Bitcoin Nodes; My curiosity on: May 20, 2024, 06:30:49 PM
Bitcoin is freedom, we run the network as a community. If every node shuts down it will be because the community has decided to shut the network down, if not you can create your own node, I can as well and we build the network back up. As long as there are bitcoiners, there will be bitcoin.

Except you want to run a full node then downloading the whole Block shouldn't be your problem. You can run a pruned nodes to reduce the total storage which the block will occupy in your disk space, The current Blockchain size is around 651.13 GB [1] so it's even above your 500 GB space.
With a pruned node you will still need to sync your wallet with the blockchain requiring you to download every block to date, then prune the data. The problem here is internet speed and not space.
5  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin wallet vs pendrive or Memory card. on: May 20, 2024, 04:15:32 PM
Bitcoin is data and that data can go on anything that it is run on at the time. As technology advances we can get chips that go on our finger tips, and yes, your blockchain data can go on it and you can access your keys using them. Drives and memory cards were always used as means of accessing the blockchain, but there are easier and safer ways to do that now.

You have the freedom to use your bitcoin as you like.
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How big is the total nonce range? on: May 17, 2024, 01:48:22 PM
How big is the total nonce range that a miner has to scan to create a valid hash
32 bits

Am I correct to think that the total adjustment range a miner can make is to say (nonce + extranonce + timestamp), a total of (2^96)?
Changes to the timestamp or other parts of the candidate block gives the miner more nonce space to play around with.

Also, what determines the starting nonce for each miner. I know there's a nonce provided in the block header, is this what gets used as the starting point or is that for something else?
The miner decides which nonce to start at. If in a pool you can have a nonce range allocated to you.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Perishable UTXOs on: April 19, 2024, 06:24:25 PM
Presumed lost bitcoins from the very early days mostly did not have any spent UTXOs so they are protected from any advancements in computing that will arise in the future. The public address will need to be available and used to get the private keys, satoshi for example has never spent his coins, so there is no way to get to the public key or the coins in them.

Bitcoin is freedom, no coins should be presumed lost and recirculated to anyone else. That is against what Bitcoin is.
8  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sparrow Bitcoin Wallet on: April 07, 2024, 01:17:30 PM
Now the problem is that it takes almost one day to download the wallet while filesize is up to 98 MB. For some reasons, their servers don't let me to download it with normal internet speed and limit my download speed significantly.
I just downloaded it now and it took roughly 20 minutes to download with my personal internet connection. I do not think it is their server limiting your download speed and surely not intentionally. Could be an overload on available connections on the web server or some other reason.
Try clearing your cache and try again.

If you opt to earn some merit, try to post or comment on threads like Bitcoin Discussion, Altcoin Discussion, Economies, Meta, etc.
Or you post wherever you have an interest in. Some of us are here to only discuss bitcoin having little knowledge of the altcoin space, hopping on there for merits means we don't enjoy the forum as much, even if we try to stay on topic.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I really hold onto my bitcoins in the future? on: March 27, 2024, 11:05:25 AM
Priorities set themselves and we have to plan around them. The halving is around the corner and sometime after that till the end of next year Bitcoin should go above $100,000, but at different points between now and then the market will be unpredictable and only a comfortable holder can ignore the rise and falls.

Not sure why you have two months to make a decision, but your family priority comes first. Selling the bitcoins to take care of domestic needs is the best decision now. A job can always come later and you can buy more bitcoins.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: March 27, 2024, 10:41:33 AM
The age window when kids gain exposure and mastery of the internet keeps dropping and today there are 10-12 years olds that can perfectly understand the concept of bitcoin and are not hooked on the current system either. If  they can do that and are interested in putting some of the money they make from a lemonade stand or from selling an application into bitcoin, they should be encouraged to (with the supervision of adults if possible).

Those at more of a disadvantage are the elderly who have gotten too used to the current system to change their mindset, but we have people changing that narrative as well.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I invest to BTC? on: March 22, 2024, 03:07:38 PM
Though you may be partially correct mate, but a country where it's government choose not to accept Bitcoin or crypto as a legal tender doesn't stop it's citizens from purchasing Bitcoin. You can buy using p2p so long there are trades open for your local area and trades who will sell, then you can deposit the funds through the provided bank account and receive Bitcoin in return.
You are right, I was not talking about the country accepting it as a legal tender, but they not making it illegal to hold, trade or accept it for payments. If a country allows one to freely use this fancy internet money without meddling, that will be true freedom.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I invest to BTC? on: March 22, 2024, 08:51:30 AM
Are you aware of the legality of Bitcoin in your country? If it is totally legal, then find an exchange that operates in your country, register an account, deposit your funds and look for a buyer, this can be P2P or you can create a buy order.

Note that there are different types of exchanges for different people, depending on the amount of personal information you are willing to show. I like privacy and freedom, so I go for exchanges that do not ask for KYC and decentralized ones, Check https://kycnot.me/

It is fine to be a small investor. If you buy consistently when you can with little amounts, you assets will grow. Make sure you are storing them safely in a non custodian wallet.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: TREZOR WALLET Question about possible security risk on: March 21, 2024, 02:57:51 PM
Leaving aside the risk these genuine firmware updates possibly messing up a device & having to access via the seed phrase what's the bigger security risk?
I do not see a bigger security risk with updating the firmware. Some of the times they contain major security fixes to better protect the bitcoins you have there. You can use an additional passphrase for additional security.

How do i know a pop up on my screen is a genuine update? and who says its not a hacker pretending to provide a genuine update 2.7.0 say it was a hacker could they take my coins from me entering the password ?
I mostly ignore popups and do it directly after a bit of time has passed. How the pop up appears also counts, do not be in a haste to take any action.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi I'm New Here, hope I'm welcomed. on: March 18, 2024, 08:26:49 AM
Check this URL to learn more about bitcoin https://learnmeabitcoin.com/
In the process of reading this I cam across this part in the wallet section:
"So in summary, a wallet does three main things:

Manages the addresses required for receiving bitcoins.
Manages the corresponding private keys for sending bitcoins.
Creates transactions and sends them in to the network."
What is managing in this concept? Does the wallet providers have access to the private keys and does it vary from wallet to wallet?
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #1 on: March 17, 2024, 07:30:38 PM
How can hash power distribution among mining pools affect the final outcome?
Not exactly distribution between miners, but from the explanations above and on the whitepaper, the hashrate of the attacking miner in relation to the hashrate of the other honest miners determines the final outcome.
