1  Economy / Economics / Re: (SSS) - A Sane and Simple bitcoin Savings plan on: May 13, 2017, 04:23:22 AM
Just giving this thread a BUMP since BTC's finally up in the $1K area (i.e. maybe for folks who have dollar-cost-average buy prices in $500-range over the last couple years of this thread...?  You're *finally* lookin' at hitting your first-doubling-point in the SSS plan!  Grin )

Also I was bummed out to see that the http://www.bitcoinsavingsplan.com/ site seems to have disappeared?

It still works via Internet Archive "Wayback Machine" fortunately...

https://web.archive.org/web/20161002124812/http://bitcoinsavingsplan.com/

...but I think it'd be nice to maybe revive the site if the owner is around here and needs to run a crowdfund campaign?  I'll kick in a couple bucks if so...

Revived  Grin.

I got a heads up that the site was being discussed again... I had originally planned to pull it into a larger site and add some more calculators and tools, but haven't had time to work on it.  So for now, it's back up as it was.

I love you SSS plan http://bitcoinsavingsplan.comSmiley I am using it for Nxt now. Too bad there is not an option to add other crypto's like Nxt.

Thanks, I think it should still work fine as long as you ignore the BTC units  Smiley

I just updated it today based on some requests to be able to modify the "doubling" to other values.  You can now modify the cycle multiplier to trigger a sell on 2x, 1.5x, 1.1x, etc.

Also, if you want to set up a fixed withdrawal rate in fiat, there is an option under the cycle multiplier to calculate that for you based on a given rake %.

No, I had not seen that one!  That's what I get for skimming though page 4.  Nice work, I like playing with the delayed gains option.

Anyway, the one I was working on is done now too: http://bitcoinsavingsplan.com/

oooh, yours is prettier Cheesy

nice

Nah, it was just bootstrap.js that did most of the skinning on the UI.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll look into adding those features.

Got it, thanks!

Excellent thread - thanks!!

I hacked together a quick Google Docs spreadsheet to play with the numbers for my own uses, and I'm in the process of creating a small website with an SSS-style calculator on it.

I'll keep you posted when it's up.

Did you see this,or is it not SSS-like enough for your tastes? Tongue

I see, thanks.

So even if the change address does not show up in the Electrum wallet for whatever reason, it could eventually be found/generated deterministically by increasing the gap limit?
9  Bitcoin / Electrum / Will Electrum regenerate all change addresses from seed? on: December 12, 2013, 04:02:11 PM
If I set up an Electrum wallet from a brain wallet seed, do a transaction where a change address is created, then delete the wallet file, will the change addresses always be recreated from seed?

I'm concerned after reading this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1bd1d1/i_think_i_just_lost_90btc_are_they_stolen_help/

If Electrum acts as I have described above, can someone explain what is different about Multibit that they would have lost their change address private key?  Was a completely new wallet created just for the change address?

Thanks, the pics were done with my Canon PowerShot S95.  It has a great macro mode, nice image stabilization, and a pretty fast lens.  It's making me use my DSLR less and less.

lacedwithkerosene, I have done a lot of web design in the past, though it's not my current job.

Here is my new wooden frame open case rig (4 x 5830), inspired by some other ones in this thread:

Checking it out right now, this looks really good.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Radeon 5830s in stock at Amazon on: July 29, 2011, 11:49:58 AM
Yeah, I agree that the 5850 xtreme would be the better deal at $161, but something doesn't quite add up about the Amazon offer:

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100282XTREME/dp/B004W75ATI

It says they will take 2-4 weeks to ship, which makes me nervous, and any Amazon or eBay sellers who have them on hand at all are selling them for $200+ (even used).

My guess is that supplies of these cards are drying up overall, and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that 2-4 weeks  Smiley

If anyone has seen 5850s elsewhere for around $160 within the last day or so, I'd love to hear about it.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Radeon 5830s in stock at Amazon on: July 29, 2011, 04:21:26 AM
At $160, not a great price considering what they were at a few months ago, but I ordered some.  They seem to have sufficient stock and were shipped to me within 2 days.

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-100297L/dp/B0039YOMZI

I still think they're probably the best card you can get for $160.
