1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Victims of Mt Gox Incident Where Are They Now on: March 18, 2015, 02:47:34 PM
With the vast numbers of Bitcointalk forum members, is there anyone here who was one of the users of Mt Gox when they went down?

The Mt Gox incident remains to be the biggest 'scam' to date.

I read some stories about it, and I think it has become a popular story to tell for Bitcoiners all over the world.

Anyone here?

Because of the recent strand of hacking and stealing, Bitcoin Bounty was made
http://bitforum.info/t/scammers-beware-bitcoin-bounty-hunter-is-here/405

Honestly, I really hope that everyone supports this kind of program, not to erase online hackers, scammers and thieves, but minimize unfortunate incidents.

As of now, there are 3-5 offers standing on the site. I hope everyone comes forward and doesnt give in to lowlives who benefits in the misfortunes and hardwork of someone.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Rumored to Be Developing Bitcoin Alternative on: March 17, 2015, 04:02:05 AM
I'm just wondering what the pros and cons of such a project can have.  And also what you guys might think on the hurdles and obstacles in implementing it.

Quote

IBM may be looking to further its exploration of bitcoin and blockchain technologies in a way that goes beyond its previously revealed proof of concept ADEPT.

Reuters reports the US-based tech giant is seeking to create a digital cash and payment system for traditional currencies that uses blockchain technologies.

Citing a person familiar with the matter, IBM said the objective is to make traditional payments instantaneous while cutting out traditional intermediaries such as banks and clearing parties.

The article explained:

”The transactions would be in an open ledger of a specific country's currency such as the dollar or euro, said the source, who declined to be identified because of a lack of authorization to discuss the project in public.”

Complete article is here...  http://www.coindesk.com/ibm-rumored-bitcoin-alternative/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CoinDesk+%28CoinDesk+-+The+Voice+of+Digital+Currency%29

Pros: It will succeed. A new payment alternative.
Cons: It will fail.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Third USMS Auction Winners, Still Not Revealed on: March 17, 2015, 03:55:25 AM
I mean, I read it yesterday that one of the winners (3rd) was itBit from New York
http://bitforum.info/t/and-the-third-winner-for-the-usms-auction-is-itbit/400

But two of the big winners still did not reveal themselves
http://bitforum.info/t/third-usms-auction-winners-still-not-revealed/397

I mean, I was following this news since USMS announced that there will be a 3rd auction.

I know that Draper will be there, Silbert's SecondMarket will be there, Pantera Capital will be there.

But as of this moment there is still no official news about the two big winners.

I mean, do they get something when they do not reveal themeselves to the public? For me, if they are a business entity, revealing that they won the auction can actually help them.

The latest was that the BTC were already transferred to each of the winners.

The winners just want a privacy and security with their winnings.
Maybe its not a company who won.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin? on: March 17, 2015, 03:27:05 AM
Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin?

http://bitforum.info/t/is-regulation-the-end-for-bitcoin/396

Maybe bitcoiners doesnt say this out loud but majority of us question ourselves, if Bitcoin will be regulated. Would it be the end?

I mean, if there is a central entity that regulates Bitcoin, do you think that they're regulation would be 'limited' or will they violate a bitcoiners privacy for the sake of 'regulation'?

In the article, it reads the advantages of regulation.

Can you give out negative effects if Bitcoin is regulated?

They can regulate all they want, they cannot come into your house and tell you what to do with your Bitcoins. As long as you don't convert to fiat reguations don't even matter.

Are you really that sure that authorities will not barge in to your house if you use unregulated coins? Think again.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The Media's Effect To Bitcoin? on: March 17, 2015, 03:22:47 AM
What Will 2015 Bring For Bitcoin And Media?
Of course, like any other topic around the world, media sometimes overshoot their reports about Bitcoin. Still, publicity is publicity, its doesnt matter if its good or bad.

I believe that 2015 will be a big year for Bitcoin in terms of popularity. Right now, there are a lot of good news coming each week. International businesses integrating bit[Suspicious link removed]gle accepting bitcoin, Dell accepting bitcoin and so on.

Media will slowly realize that Bitcoin is a game changer, a vital tool for mankind and people needs to be informed.

As Andreas said, give bitcoin two years...then lets see what will happen.

Many say that media stomps bitcoin through their one way reporting. However, I think bitcoin needs the media in fulfilling its potential.
Where Bitconi stands now, is also because of media's help.
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: March 17, 2015, 03:21:33 AM
...

I started into the BTC world after BTC had backed off its all time highs (over $1000), I started slowly buying at around $700 and having been buying more on the way down.  For the moment I have no plans to spend them.

That would change if BTC goes back up to $1000 or even above its earlier all-time highs.  I will mention below what I will likely do further below, but here is a chance to tell people WHAT you would do with some or all of your BTC if we have a BIG price rise within, say, the next year or two:

If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do?

*  *  *

1) Buy gold!

2) Look for a good investment in the BTC community

3) Very possibly hoard the rest

If I have that many maybe I will spend a day trying to look for an option where I can invest my BTC.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New decentralized DAppStore on: March 17, 2015, 03:16:50 AM
Years ago I created a website called bitcoincounsel.com, that was a directory of all Bitcoin related websites/businesses and just like nearly every other bitcoin directory out there I lost motivation in keeping it updated.  So I have created a decentralized DAppStore that not only includes Bitcoin and its related websites/businesses but also caters for the larger DApp ecosystem in general.

Think of this project as a cross between App Stores like Apples AppStore and the Google play store and Coinmarketcap.  It can be used to both advertise your project and provide reviews and rankings on related projects.

The DAppStore introduces a new token called "DAppStore Votes" or DSV, these votes are used for various functions in the DApp, but primarily they are used to cast votes towards projects of interest. Votes when cast are locked and cannot be used, but can easily be unlocked to be transferred or sold.

Its still early alpha quality code right now, although there is a live GUI you can try out here: http://dappstore.dappcentral.com/

It includes not only crypto-currency projects, but other DApps like BitMessage and TOR for example.

I'm aiming to release the full node source code in the next few weeks.  In the meantime, try out the demo GUI, get voting for your favourite DApps Smiley

Is it avaoilable in mobile? Android and iOS?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wall Street To Bitcoin: Does It Really Matter? on: March 17, 2015, 03:15:35 AM
I noticed that more and more EX/Former Wall Street guys are taking their talents to Bitcoin-related businesses.

http[Suspicious link removed]c-blythe-masters-swaps-wall-street-for-bitcoin/

I mean..Bitcoin was built in the first place to avoid these guys..

Bitcoin succeed without the help of these guys.
Now that they notice that bitcoin's popularity is skyrocketing, then they jump ship.

Well, we all know what will happen if Bitcoin sinks, they will jump ship again.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this bad or good news? on: March 17, 2015, 03:06:29 AM
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-value-gets-boost-fed/

IBM AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ARE NOW ON THE CRYPTO CURRENCY BANDWAGON AND IT SAYS THIS WILL "REPLACE" BITCOIN,NOT THAT THAT IS POSSIBLE BUT THIS IS BAD RIGHT?

A company who considers cryptocurrency into their platforms are considered wise.

They should not fall behind the trend.
