1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thorchain (RUNE) is soon obsolete, here's why. on: March 12, 2024, 03:44:22 PM
Yes lot of credit to Thorchain for being the first to figure out cross chain swaps, but hydranet is a completely different beast altogether.  Tech is vastly superior, scalable and just a matter of time till the rest of the industry takes notice.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find out cons of altcoins? on: March 10, 2024, 04:52:09 AM
Without shilling any coin names, I've been eyeing some relatively newer altcoins to stake a bit in and everytime I try to find information, most of what I find is the official sources or diehard supporters which make every coin sound like the next best thing to takeover the entire market. That's obviously not true. I've tried looking through coin-specidic subreddits too but obviously the mods aren't always going to leave criticism up under the banner of FUD.

I know there was multiple focused discussions on this sub on how to do your own research, but I either can't find them, or I find the ones that are too technical about trying to calculate market cap potential and coin estimates, which does not really matter to me. Does anyone know of reliable sources that can provide unbiased overview of limitations and potential problems that a coin and their devteam is facing?

Ideally if the project has a working product out already the analysis would be a lot easier. Nothing beats using the product and learing for your self if it has a future.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are people still using bitcoin ATMs? on: March 09, 2024, 02:58:16 PM
Hi guys,

I've been long fascinated with bitcoin ATM machines and love to spot them wherever I go traveling but haven't seen one for a long time in New York – are there any of them left in the city at all?

I keep hearing anecdotal stories of people using them but wonder if they are still considered a good way to buy bitcoin, given the steep fees these machines often charge.

Have you ever used a bitcoin ATM in NYC?

Can't talk about New York City but everywhere I have ever been and seen Bitcoin ATMs, they all have been very terrible. I don't know why Bitcoin ATM owners think it's a good way to manage business with extraordinarily high fees but besides Bitcoin enthusiasts no one uses ATM. People only use Bitcoin ATMs just once to test it and experience what it looks like, just like a fan thing. A friend of mine has Bitcoin ATM in his restaurant since 2016 and rarely one or two tourists a month come to use it and take pictures of it, that's all.
Don't use Bitcoin ATMs. It's better to buy Coinbase card if you live in the USA or get a XAPO card if you travel often. You'll get better fees compared to Bitcoin ATMs and these cards offer good ATM withdrawal fees.

Never used a Bitcoin ATM but curious about what the fees are.

Why do you need to use DEX if you are doing day trading on blockchain with high transaction fee like Ethereum. Besides Thorchain offers trading of real Bitcoin that’s why it’s fee high.

Trading it off-chain will make it just trading with wrapped tokens which is not real Bitcoin. Just purchased wrapped Bitcoin on less transaction fees blockchain such as BSC if you are just trading off chain Bitcoin.

Crypto holders is now conscious about their holdings and they don’t trust anymore any wrapped tokens especially Bitcoin because it’s not a real Bitcoin.

The dex is trading real Bitcoin on the lightning network, not wrapped bitcoin. Vast difference in security level. Basically if you believe lightning network is the future for bitcoin (i personally do) then the hydranet dex being the only one who has developed a dex solution using lightning is just going to explode in value in the coming weeks. Core dex is already live and web dex is on the way.
